I can kind of crochet? It's just been over a decade since I did it last...

Mekatra 12-17-2017 02:22 AM

I'll stick to my chainmaille.

I'll gladly spin thread though, like half of all day I'll spin or weave.

Actually the last of the "basic" weaves I learned was European 4 in 1. Everyone always says it's so easy, but it's hella unstable until you get a couple rows in, so no, it's really not. Byzantine or Box maille is actually an easier starter weave... or Persian. Basically anything that isn't Euro 4 in 1 lol.

My obsession lately has been the square wire rings. They're so pretty. A bit of a bugger to work with, but so fun.

I'm still envious of you string workers. I just can't...

Yeah, I started with the Euro 4 in 1, then moved onto Byzantine (my fave!) and helms chain, which I can kind of do, but definitely need to check and buy different ring sizes when I can afford to, and fairly recently started on box chain.

Square cut rings are so cool! I bought some to use for a Byzantine weave lanyard for a friend, but we had a falling out before I finished it...so I guess I get to keep it when it's done...

*sits and procrastinates like a pro again*

Den 12-18-2017 07:46 PM

>.>;; *kind of doing that, too*

Mekatra 12-18-2017 07:59 PM

If you can do byzantine you can do boxmaille lol it's the same thing.

I am also procrastinating. >.<

Death by Mirrors 12-18-2017 08:41 PM

Yay, procrastinators of the world unite... tomorrow!

Mekatra 12-18-2017 08:52 PM

Let's not and say we did

Essentially yeah it is. It's pretty easy I just haven't really done anything with it really.

Mekatra 12-18-2017 09:18 PM

I am making a necklace out of it right now funnily enough.

Kaderin Triste 12-18-2017 09:20 PM

Nice! I think I have a small chain just kind of started with it. I was possibly doing a bracelet? I do a lot of those...

Mekatra 12-18-2017 09:21 PM

We make a ton of bracelets. They have the highest profit margin

Kaderin Triste 12-18-2017 09:26 PM

I haven't actually sold anything...
>.>
I just make all the stuff (mainly bracelets and earrings)...and then....have it around in a box.

I really had been saving up to put them in a craft fair type thing my one job hosts in November, but they decided to cancel it this year at the last minute and I just haven't gotten around to doing anything with my chainmaille stuff yet.

Mekatra 12-18-2017 09:28 PM

My husband and I are getting ready to try to go from me having a regular job to trying to live on our crafting alone... which is scary, but I'm looking forward to it.

Kaderin Triste 12-18-2017 09:32 PM

I bet you'll be fine! Although, I can understand how scary it could be.

Mekatra 12-18-2017 09:37 PM

Thank you. I know we'll be okay because we'll be out where if we have to we can do a lot of other work to make up the difference, but I still worry

Death by Mirrors 12-18-2017 09:51 PM

Sounds awesome. Scary, but awesome. I wish you lots of success on that, Mekatra!

Kaderin Triste 12-19-2017 10:19 PM

Ah, I almost have finished the fox I need to make! I was gonna have it done today so I could slip it into my coworker's room for her (along with a price tag, because I'll be damned if the bitch is getting it for free), but I haven't gotten one leg or the tail on.
Might try to finish it up while I do my cleaning stuff...

SparX 12-19-2017 11:13 PM

I have low hours this week at work so I am hoping to doodle
or I may just waste life away becoming the best of everything in skyrim
but still

Kaderin Triste 12-26-2017 03:36 PM

Ahhh...I totally still have unfinished presents to make...

But December is drawing closer to an end and we need a new crafting theme for January!

trystan830 12-26-2017 03:39 PM

i finished all my hollyday crochet on the 24th! wee!!

i'm seeing friends on the 30th, and i'll give them them then.

no idea about a theme... i'm currently making a skull snowflake though... XD

Kaderin Triste 12-26-2017 09:30 PM

Yay! Lots of crafting!
XD

We'll get a theme eventually! I'll see if I can think of something later.

Mekatra 12-26-2017 09:34 PM

New Theme for a new year!

trystan830 12-27-2017 06:25 PM

i finished my skullflake - it's crochet thread, and right now the fabric stiffener is drying on it. i'll post a pic once it's all dry. i think it's too big to hang on my tree, i'll have to find somewhere else. XD

Kaderin Triste 12-27-2017 06:39 PM

I am excited to see it!

Also, I have the next 2 days off and am totally going to try to finish a scarf AND an elephant!

trystan830 12-27-2017 06:44 PM

yaay for days off! i have sunday and monday off. and i'm teaching a crochet class saturday, so i don't have to be in until 2 p.m. XD

ZenKitty 12-27-2017 07:33 PM

I'd love to see your skull flake when it's done Trys.

We usually put my grandma's crocheted angels on our tree. Lovely and full of memories.

Mekatra 12-27-2017 07:36 PM

It sounds like it is going to be incredibly adorable.

trystan830 12-27-2017 07:48 PM

taa-daa!!

Mekatra 12-27-2017 08:56 PM

Oh it's so pretty! How lovely!

trystan830 12-27-2017 08:59 PM

thanks mekaatra!

Mekatra 12-27-2017 10:20 PM

You're most welcome, supreme string witch!

trystan830 12-27-2017 10:23 PM

so i'm a supreme string witch now? how much higher up is that than a 20th level?

Mekatra 12-27-2017 10:24 PM

Hmmm, I guess it depends on the levels of the other string witches. You're the highest level one I know

trystan830 12-27-2017 10:26 PM

awww, thanks!

ZenKitty 12-28-2017 11:20 AM

That's a wonderful ornament, Trys.

You're the highest level string witch I know too. Awesome talent!

trystan830 12-28-2017 01:46 PM

thank you, Zen!! =)

Kaderin Triste 12-29-2017 07:07 PM

*crys because I am not a high level string witch*

Lol. Took me a while to actually see the skull design in the snowflake. Pretty cool!

trystan830 12-29-2017 07:37 PM

bah, don't cry.... the skulls are subtle, and if you don'tknow what you're looking for, you won't see them right away.

and thanks!
