-Giggles- That's my literal job this thanksgiving. I have to make the gravy because my boyfriend's Nana doesn't know how to make gravy. She always buys it in a jar, so I'm gonna show her how to make it.

dragoness129 11-21-2016 02:23 AM

I make it from the packet mixes.

setsunaela 11-21-2016 02:27 AM

My great grandma taught me how to make it from scratch when I was little. Since my boyfriend's mom found that out, now that I've moved in with him, everything that involves gravy, I am to make that gravy. I don't mind, it's pretty quick for me to do now :D

littl3chocobo 11-21-2016 02:32 AM

my gravy is usually lumpy because i am impatient XD tastes good tho'

dragoness129 11-21-2016 02:34 AM

I like most gravy.
Not the sausage gravy though.

setsunaela 11-21-2016 02:36 AM

Mine comes out lumpy sometimes, but it usually smooths itself out as I cook it. My boyfriend never minds lumpy gravy though so I don't care if it's a little bit lumpy..

Edit: Lol talking about gravy I just got the "Great Gravy Boat"

dragoness129 11-21-2016 02:40 AM

Does your kind have hard boiled egg bits in it? My husband's Nana makes hers with egg.

It knew you needed it! ^_^

setsunaela 11-21-2016 02:42 AM

I've never put egg bits in it. Hm. No, I usually just make plain country gravy, though I put chicken or sausage or beef or whatever in it if that's what I'm making.

littl3chocobo 11-21-2016 02:42 AM

no eggs here XD the beef and butter and veg are enough flavor XD

dragoness129 11-21-2016 02:46 AM

My mom is gonna do the gravy this year for our Thanksgiving dinner.
I gonna see if she can put eggs in it. I like hardboiled eggs.
It all goes lovely over mashed potatoes and turkey.

setsunaela 11-21-2016 03:16 AM

I haven't even got a clue what else we're having besides gravy for thanksgiving XD this is my first year having it at Nana's, and also my boyfriend's first year. He usually went to his other grandma's house for dinner.

dragoness129 11-21-2016 03:19 AM

This year we are having it with my mom and grandma and grandpap. Mom had moved back to Pennsylvania three years ago, and we just moved back up ourselves.
The past couple years we had had it with my mother-in-law and his Nana's houses.
So it will be a change for us too. We have a list already of what we wanna make.
I am gonna make so much Baked Mac and Cheese. That is always my favorite thing! SO ADDICTINGLY GOOD!

setsunaela 11-21-2016 06:20 AM

This is gonna be me, boyfriend, boyfriend's mom, at boyfriend's mom's mom's house.. Boyfriend's aunt MAY be there, and some of her kids MAY be there, depending on their schedules at work and whether aunt's chemo is kicking her butt too hard, but the core four are the only guarantee. Boyfriend's dad will be going to his mom's house, the grandma that everyone normally goes to. I think next year we will go there with dad, and mom will go to her mom's by herself.

Tohopekaliga 11-21-2016 08:09 AM

All this talk of fancy gravies... sounds tasty.

I don't know how to make gravy...although I'm sure other people in my family do.

Shadami 11-21-2016 10:04 AM

I'm making the mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie this year :D

Kitarun 11-21-2016 11:13 AM

Toho... Gravy is so simple. You take all the juices left in the meat pan, add some water, add some flour or cornstarch for thickener if its too runny, add more water if its too thick. Stir it all up till its the right consistency- should pour smoothly. Nobody likes lumpy gravy.

...well, nobody in my family, anyways.

Shadami 11-21-2016 11:23 AM

no wonder i don't like gravy... xD

trystan830 11-21-2016 11:29 AM

dragoness!!

we're having mac & cheese for our Turkey Day dinner! =)

(and chocolate chip cookies for dessert.)

Kitarun 11-21-2016 11:30 AM

Hey look! I look like Im out of a dr seuss book!

Shadami 11-21-2016 12:20 PM

i just read said book last night.

Kitarun 11-21-2016 12:27 PM

Lol

Shadami 11-21-2016 12:31 PM

its one of the girls favorite bed time stories. xD

Glitch 11-21-2016 12:48 PM

I realize I am a bit late to the gravy talk but --- I love making gravy. I like to bake the turkey so I can make the gravy ^_^ I don't make stuffing because that would take away from the gravy D:<

Pessimisticat 11-21-2016 01:51 PM

This event is making me wish I was having an actual Thanksgiving >_>

But I've come prepared to this food fight with my Pizza Suit and trusty Bread Weapon :P

Shadami 11-21-2016 02:00 PM

my thanksgiving is going to be my daughters and I. My mother in law, and one of my brother in laws. no one else will be there.

trystan830 11-21-2016 02:13 PM

we'll be me, hubby (B), our two daughters (J & M), a family friend (F, my daughters call her 'Aunt') and her mom (Aunt I, i call her 'Aunt'!)

Tohopekaliga 11-21-2016 02:24 PM

No day is complete without your very own Breadly Weapon!

Potironette 11-21-2016 02:28 PM

Owo how does that Breadly weapon page work? Can you get to it normally?

http://trisphee.com/item/view/Jackie%20Flapper and what does that %20 mean :o?

Tohopekaliga 11-21-2016 02:32 PM

I just made an Announcement about it. :D

you can type [item]Jackie Flapper[/item] to get Jackie Flapper

Tohopekaliga 11-21-2016 02:34 PM

And to answer the question, %20 is how a space is encoded into a URL. :)

Potironette 11-21-2016 02:40 PM

Ohh, I've always wondered why google search things had percent things all the time!
This item thing is really cool :o

Jackie Flapper
What if it didn't exist
jackie flapper
jackieflapper
jackie%20flapper

Edit: Oh hey, they all work! Well, to make links.

Tohopekaliga 11-21-2016 02:42 PM

The forums don't try to validate what you're asking for, it just makes a link, and the destination page (the item viewer) figures out what you actually want.

Savory, sweet, salty, mmmmm!

LOL I'm actually not a fan of sweet. Sour, salty, bitter... oh yeah. XD Though a good pumpkin pie with much cinnamon and ginger and NO whipped cream I also love.

Yams are a totally different species. Many varieties of sweet potato ARE sweet (like the purple ones). And actually, sweet potatoes were the first plant called potato. What is now the common potato is actually a late comer to the name. And sweet potatoes also come in dry white varieties that make fluffy mashed potatoes to shame the best common potatoes. And this old loser can eat those without poisoning herself.

*ends nerd rant*

Tohopekaliga 11-21-2016 02:50 PM

lol, well done on picking out an item name I forgot about for validating.

Potironette 11-21-2016 02:51 PM

It's the weirdest named item I've seen in the shop, and my favorite item <3

Maro 11-21-2016 03:29 PM

I'lkl eat just about anything at least once honestly.

Tohopekaliga 11-21-2016 03:31 PM

As would I. :D

Athilea Majiri 11-21-2016 04:01 PM

So, how is everyone doing today? I, for one, could go to sleep right now. I'm not going to, but I could.

i know this because the code broke on Sapherna the other day. so whenever you typed anything all the messages got turned into20%things20%that20%looked20%like20%this. it was hilarious as everyone panicked and we all started typing.like.this or other unique ways to get past it like underscores.
