I have good eye measurement when cooking, but for some reason I always screw it up when baking without a scale.

tsukiko 08-24-2018 01:07 PM

i dhould do things by scale, but i do it the traditional way via cups and spoons

Kaderin Triste 08-24-2018 03:03 PM

Same. Although I would like to invest in a scale eventually. I do have some macaron recipes that are measured by weight instead of cups and spoons and I would love to experiment and see which method works better.

Derpy McBlueEyes 08-24-2018 04:35 PM

Derpy puts on an apron and a tiny chef hat and follows DbM around, holding a wooden spoon.

Death by Mirrors 08-24-2018 05:00 PM

I've done both and swear by the scale, but that's a personal preference in my opinion.

Derpy, want to whisk the egg whites? Or sieve the sugar?

Derpy McBlueEyes 08-24-2018 05:18 PM

"Sugar!" Derpy waits until nobody is looking, then licks his paw, dips it in the sugar, and sucks the sugar off of it.
Then he sieves the sugar.

Witchchylde 08-24-2018 05:56 PM

Real butter or margarine, though? Did we cover that question already?

Den 08-24-2018 06:25 PM

I do the traditional method... I've had a good eye for measuring since I was younger.

Real butter. it'll turn out better.

mdom 08-24-2018 06:50 PM

We are sinking the enemy margarine fleet with our butter cannon balls.

Witchchylde 08-24-2018 07:16 PM

Well-chilled, no doubt. Or boiling hot? Hot clarified butter streaming across their margarine prow!

KittyBeary 08-25-2018 05:20 AM

BUTTER RIVER >:V

Death by Mirrors 08-25-2018 07:30 AM

Maple syrup river with pancake boats and butter obstacles.

This needs to be a scenic item.

Death by Mirrors 08-25-2018 07:15 PM

Hell yes it does!

mdom 08-25-2018 07:20 PM

Imma eat that item

Death by Mirrors 08-25-2018 07:34 PM

Go suggest it first. I would, but I forgot where the thread is.

Quiet Man Cometh 08-26-2018 12:23 AM

Maple syrup would make a lousy river though. More like a maple syrup pit, with the crumbs of waffles sinking and being preserved for all eternity as maple sugar candy.

KittyBeary 08-26-2018 01:09 AM

;u; Pancakes drenched in syrup sound good right now

Derpy McBlueEyes 08-26-2018 01:31 AM

Derpy waddles over and clings to KittyBeary's leg.
"Yeah! Fowget cookies, I want pancakes!

Quiet Man Cometh 08-26-2018 02:52 AM

Chocolate chips can go in pancakes.

Or berries.

Or caramel.

Or cinnamon.

...Now I want to go to IHOP.

Pancakes for Derpy 2018 Campaign

Derpy McBlueEyes 08-26-2018 09:39 AM

"PANCAKES! PANCAKES! PANCAKES!"

mdom 08-26-2018 09:45 AM

*ihob

Witchchylde 08-26-2018 10:59 AM

I am SO glad they dropped the iHob promotion and are calling themselves iHop again. Maybe the burgers are still on the menu, but the PANCAKES are what matter!

mdom 08-26-2018 03:06 PM

Hehe it was a very weird marketing campaign xD

Death by Mirrors 08-26-2018 04:27 PM

I have no idea what you guys are talking about, but yep I agree pancakes matter.

Witchchylde 08-26-2018 04:41 PM

Oh, you missed when the International House of Pancakes switched to Burgers for about a month? Lucky you.

Death by Mirrors 08-26-2018 04:59 PM

Yeah, completely missed it. I barely ever eat burgers, my go-to dish when I don't want to cook is chinese takeaway (or occasionally pizza).

mdom 08-26-2018 11:56 PM

I only know because of the memes xD

KittyBeary 08-27-2018 02:36 AM

Yes, IHOP 5ever. >:V None of this newfangled IHOB

Kaderin Triste 08-27-2018 04:38 AM

I...also have no knowledge of this...

mdom 08-27-2018 10:06 AM

Did you miss the memes xD

Witchchylde 08-27-2018 10:13 AM

Pretty sure Burger King already offered pancakes, unless that's only MickeyD's. I miss Burger King, there isn't one within a hundred miles of this town.

mdom 08-27-2018 10:24 AM

D:
that's pretty far to go for a BK.
or PK

Witchchylde 08-27-2018 10:30 AM

We've got McDonald's, Wendy's, Carl Jr, and an A&W combined with a Long John Silver's. Apparently there was a BK here over fifteen years ago but it got closed down for vermin infestation. I think it was a hatchet job by one of the competitors.

mdom 08-27-2018 10:32 AM

D:
damn, that's dirty!!

Witchchylde 08-27-2018 10:46 AM

Yeah, from multiple points of view. Even if it was legitimately unclean by the lack of care taken by the franchise licensee.

Death by Mirrors 08-27-2018 01:43 PM

Maybe there'll be another one eventually. Here we had a Burger King that closed, opened up at a different place a year later, closed again after a while, reopened at a third, closed again and now has finally settled into the shopping area near the airport.

mdom 08-27-2018 01:48 PM

Maybe fourth time is the charm there

tsukiko 08-27-2018 07:51 PM

*noms on a butter boat sadly*
