mdom 08-28-2019 01:35 PM

is it too far?

Stabbsworth 08-28-2019 01:38 PM

not really. just takes about thirty minutes to drive out there. plus we might be able to get sushi via the supermarket or something.

Merskelly Metalien 08-28-2019 03:57 PM

<x] I love chicken and rice.
Not a big sushi eater tho, o-o; surprisingly. Being a ded alien mermaid, I like a lot of seafood, but sushi..actually don't like it. :/ I'll eat shrimpies. and sometimes lobster. and squid. and octopus. and cod. and salmon. and mahi mahi. :] and tilapia. ^-^ and maybe some anchovies.
But not tuna and not crab. >:[ ehchk. I've eaten sculpin, which is acutally pretty tasty, :} but I somehow draw the line at tuna or crab which aren't venomous at all hehe. x]

Stabbsworth 08-28-2019 04:22 PM

ugh, god, i hate tuna. and whatever shit they use in fishcakes.

Merskelly Metalien 08-28-2019 04:45 PM

:/ Tuna is just nasty to me. I can't get into crab. Too much work, and meat is not as good as shrimp.
At times like these. ^-^ it's best to eat rice!

Espy 08-28-2019 04:49 PM

I'm from the Cali Bay Area, my mom's family is from a small chain of fishing islands off the coast of Taiwan, and my dad is the only one on his side who grew up with his grandparents, who loved seafood...

..so I also grew up with a lot of seafood. Being in AZ is a sort of torture.

Merskelly Metalien 08-28-2019 04:57 PM

Oohh neat! I used to visit the bay area when I used to tag along with my dad on fishing trips off the coast of long beach towards Catalina. :] You ever had Sculpin before? :] or maybe Pacific Whitefish? We used to eat what we caught and what was legal size, and not restricted because they were sometimes reported to have too much mercury in them to be safe to consume.

Stabbsworth 08-28-2019 07:14 PM

i love crabsticks, but it's imitation crab.

Espy 08-28-2019 07:30 PM

Pacific Whitefish is used a lot in fast food, I think, so I've had plenty of that. Personally, I'm a sucker for lingcod and black cod.

Merskelly Metalien 08-28-2019 08:45 PM

>w< hehe, aww, too bad. Fresh whitefish is way better! Cod is delicious tho. :D Never had black cod. or ling cod! :D I bet they taste great!
I'm a sucker for blackened salmon. <w> mmm! With brown rice and steamed veggies!

Den 08-28-2019 08:48 PM

...I want sushi now.

Merskelly Metalien 08-28-2019 09:21 PM

*taps CRT's side of the bar*
Does this bar have sushi? :/

Espy 08-28-2019 09:29 PM

<What sort of sushi would you like?>

mdom 08-28-2019 10:19 PM

SALMON SKIN SALMON SKIN SALMON SKIN

Den 08-28-2019 11:18 PM

yum. Crunchy salmon skin is the best.

mdom 08-29-2019 12:32 AM

*high fives*

no salmon part wasted

Den 08-29-2019 12:35 AM

I actually really like the canned salmon that's just a hunk of fish cooked in the can. The spine ends up really crunchy and nice.

Biomecha 08-29-2019 01:27 AM

Not that into salmon, but the skin is definitely the best part.

Same here, I hate the cans that leave out the skin and bones. They seem to do that for the smaller ones.

mdom 08-29-2019 02:52 AM

Oooh I never had it canned, I think

Espy 08-29-2019 02:59 AM

-grills up some salmon skin to top some rice-

-wraps them in nori-

<I am glad you asked for salmon and not, for example, unagi, because I do not have unagi.>

Panda 08-29-2019 03:26 AM

Have a lovely night everyone!

Major 08-29-2019 03:28 AM

I reeeeally can't say I like salmon.

But I do love sheepshead! A friend of ours caught some and gave us a few pieces once. Delicious!

Stabbsworth 08-29-2019 10:11 AM

never tried unagi. think i've tried salmon on ginger on rice.

mdom 08-29-2019 05:46 PM

-steals some nori-

Stabbsworth 08-29-2019 06:02 PM

<...Fine. Don’t forget to drink water, though.>

I haven’t had nori as a snack in over a decade.

mdom 08-29-2019 08:27 PM

My sister likes to give it to her dogs
it's an expensive dog snack |D

bluebird 08-30-2019 12:02 AM

i like the expensive spicy dog snack

bluebird 08-30-2019 12:03 AM

Den 08-30-2019 12:43 AM

I've had monkfish liver before, and it was tasty.

Espy 08-30-2019 12:48 AM

yeah gosh there’s just too much packaging on nori

monkfish liver is tasty

Den 08-30-2019 12:49 AM

I love Nori as a snack.

bluebird 08-30-2019 01:24 AM

asian snack packaging in general too. is this the secret to staying thin
opening snaccs is 20 cal, and the snack itself is 20 cal.

never had monkfish. whats it taste like? :o

Den 08-30-2019 01:30 AM

Hard to describe how the liver tasted... was good... I've heard Monkfish itself referred to as "Poor Man's Lobster"...

bluebird 08-30-2019 01:49 AM

i love lobster. gotta try monkfish now

Stabbsworth 08-30-2019 10:31 AM

i think i've tried proper crab a while ago?

uuuuu my widdle cubesies.

Major 08-30-2019 07:15 PM

Ah, that reminds me of snow crab tempura... It's been too long...

Stabbsworth 08-30-2019 07:17 PM

my widdle cubesies.

i can recommend crab sticks, but they're imitation.

Merskelly Metalien 08-30-2019 07:17 PM

;-; I love tempura shrimpies. and now I'm craving them. :[
*to the CRT behind the bar* You wouldn't happen to have tempura shrimp too, would you? :{

Stabbsworth 08-30-2019 07:22 PM
