> ADHD
> underdiagnosed I have ADHD. My son has it even worse than I do. My experience says the opposite is true: it's so overdiagnosed that people get used to seeing the label applied to people who are really just energetic and flighty and then they don't have a clue how to deal with the real deal. (ProTip: The normal things that motivate people don't work for ADHD!) (Also, +1 neuroatypical NB hat *waves* I didn't know we had a club.) |
it's underdiagnosed in AFAB people, afaik.
also, i was not aware you were NB. |
Is that a rose in wilson's hair?
|
yeah, it is! specifically the Faded colouration. i also have either the red one or the crimson one.
|
Awe cute <3

grumpy bastard man wants his boss to know that he likes her and puts a rose in his hair in solidarity.

As for being NB, I mean, I don't really talk about it much anymore, so it's not surprising you didn't know. It took me a few years to work through some issues, and it was kind of disruptive at that time. After I managed to settle into a good, positive understanding of myself and my identity, after I stopped being afraid and stopped resisting, the dysphoria eventually more or less went away. I also kind of have it easy-mode. I'm AMAB, present as male, and for the most part take on traditionally-masculine roles in the household as breadwinner and caretaker. The idea of presenting as NB actually triggers MORE dysphoria, which... kinda sucks. My current state of zen required coming to terms with that paradox. |
sucks that it gives you dysphoria, friend. :<
|
Autism is underdiagnosed in AFAB people, too. I was diagnosed with Inattentive-type ADHD as a kid of around 8 or so, and got an official Autism diagnosis back in 2017.
Also, AFAB, presents as female, but Enby, myself. Only real source of dysphoria is my chest, and that's more of an annoyance thing to me. |
I mean, I did COME to this resolution. It sucks, but kind of just in an academic sense, something I'd like to be able to do, but just can't. Kinda like I'd like to be able to fly -- a nice dream, but not something that's really in the cards. That's why I call it a state of zen; this isn't even a case of "if I don't think about it, it won't bother me." It's a true state of acceptance and inner peace. I am who I am, and I don't have to prove that to anyone.
|
that's a mood. afab here, presenting as masc / nb online, have to present as feminine irl because i don't think my family will understand if i did manage to come out.
boobs are a pain in the ass. |
*a pain in the chest
|
Booo. also, true.
I'm not exactly in a safe place to be able to come out fully. otherwise I would've by now. |
^that's exactly what i was going to say, mdom!!
i'm cisgender, hetero female, but two people close to me are bi, and i know probably more than i realise who are everywhere on the rainbow with their gender or orientation. it's a big deal when you're uncomfortable with who you are and there's no one who understands. *hugs* |
that's why communities, like this and the RP server in my sig, where people are made to feel welcome for who they are, are so very important.

i completely agree, Den :)

Yeah, presentation and dysphoria can get really fucking weird. Quote:
Straight-legged jeans. I’m super fucking picky about my pants bc as mentioned elsewhere, whoops butt and thigh genetics. Also one of the reason I like wearing long coats even though they make me seem even shorter. Sports bra and sometimes another layer over that. And then baggy band t-shirt. Though as of late, I’ve come to appreciate plaid shirts, both as a shirt and a jacket. Occasionally hoodie, sleeves and hood both up. ...actually, my sleeves are almost always rolled up. Subconsciously, that might also be a masc presentation thing hahaha. So yeah, occasionally I grab an eyeliner pencil and mess around with eyebrows and whatever. But generally I don’t. Today I walked past someone who... honestly I could not figure out their gender. We smiled at each other. Human interaction is weird. |
