He seemed to look over her with the bow before putting a hand on the weapon to keep her from drawing it. "normal weapons won't hurt it, its a damned creature. I'm not sure if you've heard of what a necromancer is but that thing is a beast from one... they are said to be mages of the dark arts that use the dead as their weapons this is just proof of such powers." He paused a moment thinking of what else to tell her "the name this one had been given is a corpse eater, they are commonly found in darker areas and on battlefields.. one we took care of yesterday and then this one is the first sightings we've had reported to the magic circle in a long time or that's what i was told." He sighed a little watching as Rhyldrin seemed to have whatever he was planning under control. "so far only two types of magic even works on killing the creatures holy and fire, being just a cleric I have only healing holy magic it's not the same as offensive holy magic heh... so i'm pretty useless here." He smiled a little even if it looked weak "though we did have a templar traveling with us so we had both fire and holy magic in our little group, he parted ways to make sure his folks were ok in the capital. But Rhyldrin here is a spell blade or thats the fancy name given to them now a days for a melee mage, and his element happens to be fire." He seemed half proud of this fact that he had a chance to travel with a spell blade, apparently such types were rare let alone someone who could use fire to their will it wasn't the easiest element to train.
he stopped explaining about what the creature was or that he thought that they'd be fine before he spoke again. "if your going to shoot it just make sure you don't hit Rhyldrin, he's already going to be in bad shape after this... " once more he never explained himself of why though it probably had something to do with why he didn't eat this morning and why he was worn out last night. Though he was pretty sure she wouldn't need to fire anything at the beast. During most of this fight it seemed Rhyldrin would stop for a few seconds in certain spots though it was unclear of what eh was doing when he did pause. Catching his breath was one of the things he was doing, the other half was the fact he was trying to get his final strike set up and it did take time for it. "tsk damn it this one moves more then the last one.. " He hissed at it avoiding another spit ball the beast did, that was the last thing he needed was to be it by the fluids from the thing. Though Abel did forget to mention it's spit was a sort of decaying acid... Making a final pause in his rounds he had finally finished putting together the symbols he needed in a circle around the beast and at the same time forced the creature to stay in the same area. 'i need to learn a easier ways to do this..' he breathed out to himself before he shot his hand up and a fire barrier burst from it engulfing the spit wad that nearly got him. "heh... close.." Abel noticed that last attack nearly hit as he looked at Judith she didn't seem too shocked by how reckless Rhyldrin was, then again if they did know each other she probably knew his fighting style. "Rhyldrin stop playing with it and kill it already!" He yelled at him though he knew he wasn't really playing with the creature but he should hurry up he was already wasting energy wit that last block he did. |
Judith watched the creature as Abel explained what it was. It made her a little disappointed that her weapons would not have any effect on it. "That's too bad," she finally said, she still held the bow in her hand tightly. "I would like to help but like you said my weapons won't harm it." Judith paused for a moment wondering what she could do to help Rhyldrin. "I could always distract it," she mumbled to herself then looked back at Abel. "Though I don't want to end up making it angry and then it hurts Rhyldrin." she laughed when Abel said to make sure that she didn't hit him. "I have good aim, don't worry about that." Judith pulled a arrow from her pouch and began walking slowly towards Rhyldrin. She stopped, drew back the arrow then let it go. "Oh that didn't do much good," she said watching as the arrow bounced off of the creatures shoulder. She ducked as the creature swung it's tail at her. Judith heard it crash against the tree behind her and then the sound of the poor tree being knocked to the ground behind her. She brought herself up and turned looking at the tree that had met the ground. It turned and screamed at her. Judith moved just in time to avoid being struck by it. She wondered how angry Rhyldrin would be at her though now he had the chance to strike it down. |
He was about to say something else when Abel noticed the woman had already made up her mind and gone off and shot at the beast "oh shit.." He said with a look of disbelief on his face. After the beast noticed her and turned he quickly ran for her and put a barrier between her and the beast before grabbing her hand and making her run with him "I don't remember light elves being reckless too!" He said as they ran back towards the house though he released her and pushed her in front of him so she'd be closer to the building before he stopped and drew a larger symbol in the air that glowed there for a second before it made a wall that covered the full front of the building. "geese... never a dull moment.." he laughed slightly thinking about it though he kept his focus on the barrier he just made.
Rhyldrin was cutting it a bit close with avoiding the beasts attacks before it seemed to get distracted, though he quickly saw who was doing such a stunt. 'tsk.. she;s still the same' he thought before he quickly took the chance and threw one blade into the creatures side as it turned away to go chase the two running. This returned it's attention to Rhyldrin, these things were strong but they were stupid without a master. A few spots on the ground glowed after a moment with Rhyldrin standing a few mere inches from the beast, though he seemed to have this planned as each of the markings connected for a split second before forming a circle around the creature. Once this was complete he put a bit of distance between himself and the corpse eater before finishing a small chant he had been working on under his breath. "Now join your master in the depths of hell!" He hissed at it before the ground beneath it suddenly seemed to erupt into flames engulfing the creature and forming a fiery vortex inside of the circle. This light show lasted a few mere seconds before it died down leaving nothing but the charred remains of the beast, though that quickly fell apart and turned to ash. Abel let the barrier drop once the flames were finished as he looked back to see if Judith was still there, either way the dragon was as he gave it a smile "See I told you he'd be fine now didn't i" Though he knew Rhyldrin wasn't going to be standing for more then a few moments but using a similar spell to that one just the other day. Though he didn't let it be known he knew that as he rushed over to Rhyldrin's side. "So... guess we should get up with Jagen and tell him to send that report as completed..." Rhyldrin nodded slightly before stepping backwards and leaning against a tree. "Guess so.. heh" He laughed slightly before putting a hand to his mouth and wiping it, the last thing he needed was Judith asking why he had blood coming from his mouth though if she had followed Abel he was sure she had seen it anyway. He didn't seem to want to move from the tree and truth be told .. he didn't he hardly had the energy to stand there let alone wanting to move. Vrine finally walked over to Rhyldrin as the dragon shoved it's head into his hand that was laying at his side. "tsk.. still a attention whore.. " He laughed again slightly, it was rather funny though he wasn't sure it'd be as funny once the dragon was fully grown if he acted in such a way. |
Judith laughed at Abel's comment. "I'm sure that it's never a dull moment when you're with Rhyldrin," she couldn't help but smile at the thought. Judith remembered that there was always something happening when she had been with Rhyldrin, though a majority of it wasn't very pleasant. Rhyldrin seemed to always be saving her, it felt a bit odd to be dragged away from danger by another man this time. "I wouldn't call myself reckless," she said and shrugged. "I'm more adventurous than anything, but having two children holds me back from doing some things that I want to do. They're also too young to be brought into the forest, knowing Sophie she would take off and I would lose her." it was true. She didn't do much because she feared that she would either lose Sophie or Vaden. The most likely scenario would be Sophie taking off to explore an area and then getting lost. It would kill Judith if she couldn't find her. That's why she was extremely angry when she found Sophie with her brother much deeper in the forest than she usually was. Judith let her bow drop to the ground and she wandered over to Rhyldrin. She looked back at Abel and smiled. "I'll help him over to the house," she said and continued to walk. When she reached Rhyldrin she stood in front of him. "You push yourself too much," she said and brought a hand to his face. She brushed a some hair away from his face. "You always worry me, Rhyldrin. Please rest," she brought her hand away from his face and it fell by her side. It wasn't the first time that she had seen Rhyldrin beat up like this. "And eat, I can make you something." she smiled warmly at him. "Can I help you walk?" she asked and brought herself to his side. |
Abel agreed with her that two kids could hold her back a bit "I had a younger brother .. he was always running off so I know what it's like. I think he worried our mother to wits end at times with his pranks and always being late." He seemed to let it drop at that, though it was his late brother now the fights between the two kinds had claimed his younger brother almost as soon as he graduated the military. Though he tried his best to put forth his best foot and it did take a while before him and Rhyldrin even got on speaking terms, he didn't want to accept that things were different at first. "I rather miss the dull moments in truth" He said more to himself then anyone. He did finally smile at her though "it's not bad to want to venture at times.. staying in one place with no change for too long isn't healthy for you"
At first he seemed to be ignoring her with her talk of him worrying her and that he pushed too hard. He didn't think he did, he did what he had to do and he needed to gain better control of the element he had but that couldn't come without pushing himself further each time. "She's right you know, that's why your bleeding and you know it." Abel said standing next to Judith with his arms folded. "its a side affect of using too much energy when your body hasn't recovered it." Rhyldrin sighed before speaking though it seemed towards Abel "No one asked you..." He couldn't even bring himself to try and shrug off her worry it wouldn't stop her from doing so. "You worry too much" He laughed a little though he winced shortly after regretting that choice of words. Abel kept his thoughts to himself, he'd probably help get him to the house though he'd be impressed if Rhyldrin willingly let anyone help him. But something seemed different between the two of them then how he treated most, it was almost like he was someone else instead of the person Abel had known for the past five years in training. Vrine quickly took to nudging Judith's hand when it fell to her side trying to get a bit of attention before they started walking. Rhyldrin sighed finally thinking about turning her offer to help down "If I said no you'd do it anyway.." So instead he let her help or at least the best she could, he could walk mostly without her help though he was forcing it by far. "You do worry too much though.. you'll end up having wrinkles before your old" He smiled a bit after he spoke. "I do eat I promise.. just not right after using that spell." Abel was walking along side both of them with the dragon on his side as it tried to stay out of the way. Abel was only close by to ensure Rhyldrin didn't fall over, though he doubted he'd show his true fatigue.. he was good about hiding that he had noticed over the years. "Well.. I think once we get him somewhere I'll take my leave. I told my family I'd be home yesterday" He laughed slightly knowing he was late, his parents were probably worried or at least his mother she was a worry wort but she had reason to worry. "Besides he'll be fine in a few hours, he just needs some rest and to keep him away from the drinks." Rhyldrin glared at him with the last half of the sentence. "and why do I need to stay away from them?" Abel smirked a bit "because it's not polite to drink in front of a beautiful young woman... and it'll kill you" Rhyldrin wasn't amused by this apparently, really that was the best comeback Abel had for it seeing as drinking didn't make Rhyldrin's temper short and he never seemed to be overly affected by anything he did intake... he would know seeing as it was common that some of the groups would go out drinking and put bets on who would last the longest. It always ended up being a tie between Rhyldrin and a dwarf as far as he knew the two never settled it. |
"You know me well," she said and let out a laugh. Rhyldrin was right, even if he had told her to go away and that he could manage on his own she would have helped him anyways. I guess that Sophie gets that from me as well, she thought. Always doing things even when I tell her not to or doing things without my permission. Though Judith also thought that maybe she got that from her father, she at least got some of her attitude and temper from him. Sophie would throw fits if she didn't get what she asked for or wasn't allowed out of the house. She was also often smart with Judith, her brother and others. It didn't matter who you were, Judith would at least like to think that she would be polite with the king and queen. When they went into the home Judith brought Rhyldrin to her room and allowed him to lay in her bed. She didn't mind if he got the sheets dirty, she would just clean them after he was done resting. "It's much more comfortable than the couch or the guest beds." she smiled at him then stood. Judith left the room then came back with a glass of water, she placed it on the side table beside the bed. "I'll make you some food in a little bit," she said then went to the door. "I'm going to tell the children that it's alright now." then she left the room and went to the children's room. "You two can come out now," she said as she opened the door. The children ran to their mother and buried themselves into her warmth. "Are you alright?" Vaden asked his mother, Judith smiled down at him and lifted him into her arms. Then she lifted Sophie into her arms as well. "We were worried about you!" Sophie said as she held on to her mother afraid that she would leave them again. "I'm fine, don't worry." she said to them and squeezed them tightly in her arms. |
"Heh I would think by now I would" Was his reply to her saying he knew her well, he had only known her as a child even if there was a few gaps in when they spent time together she hardly changed. He didn't say much of anything during the walk back to her though it was rather funny that he did just now admit to giving into her. Though he kept his thoughts to himself with her being the only person he'd give into.
He tried to protest being in her room, though she hardly listened to him. "Like I care about comfort... not that your listening" He sighed a little knowing she wasn't. He didn't get a chance to protest anymore before she left. Abel had already taken his leave of them telling him to not cause her any trouble. He gave her a look of what was he suppose to say to her saying she was going to take her leave for a few moments to tell the children it was safe again. What was he suppose to say not like she was going to willingly let him get out of bed... though he hated the thought that he was being forced to rest even if he did need it. Vrine had walked into the room after Judith left and hoped onto the bed before half laying across Rhyldrin's lap. "heh... least your the same." He said to the dragon placing a hand on his head lazily, it seemed to be enough to keep the dragon from begging for attention. He was still trying to get over what he was told by Judith, how was he suppose to really react to that ... maybe it would be better if he left. Sure Judith wanted him to stay but the children were already five... it wouldn't be easy if almost impossible to really bond with them.. not that he really saw himself as a kid type anyway but that was aside from the point. Vrine lifted his head and looked at Rhyldrin who had finally settled down a little instead of shifting trying to make up his mind if he just wanted to leave now to get it over with... really the thought of staying still was what really bothered him. "Don't look at me that way" He said after noticing the dragon was watching him with pleading eyes as if to say he had missed him and don't go. "Tsk.. spoiled.. that's what you are and looking at me or your whining isn't going to change anything" Though by this point the dragon figured he wasn't leaving so he cooed softly before laying his head back down. After a little while he did finally settle down enough to get some rest, though if he didn't then Judith would never let him out of this bed. Just a hour or so was what eh told himself he needed. but in truth he'd probably stay asleep till she came back to wake him up or until Vrine wanted attention from him. He was going to have to speak with the Light elf King.. though he hated the thought that he owed someone something.. he felt like he did if all this time he had been helping Judith.. but he was only going to seek that audience if he settled on the idea of staying here. He still was debating if he was going to or not. It might be easier on the children if they didn't know and if he just left. He had no idea what Judith had been telling them over the years if they asked about their father, what could she tell them really. It wasn't like he had done anything that was ground breaking when he was around... But Judith seemed to want him to stay. For now he'd let the thought go or he'd never get any real rest with his mind so active. Letting things play out was for the best anyway. |
Judith wanted Rhyldrin to stay. There wasn't a day that went by that she didn't think about him. Even without the children in her life she would have thought of him frequently but with them here every time she looked at them she thought about him. Though it wouldn't be easy to introduce him to the children as their father. She didn't really know how they would react, surprised maybe a little sad that he wasn't there for five years and happy that he was now back. Judith blamed herself for keeping Rhyldrin out of their lives for so long, she wanted to tell him but held herself back. Then again Judith didn't know how long he would be around, what if he had a mission and was gone for weeks, months maybe even a year or more? She had no idea where Rhyldrin was headed after he brought Abel home or if he really wanted to stay here with her and the children. Judith brought herself to her knees and gave her children one more squeeze before letting them go. Sophie had become annoyed by how long she was being held and wanted to play. "Don't go outside," Judith warned her, Sophie groaned she wanted to go outside she had been scared of the creature that she had seen but she was also extremely curious about it. She would probably ask Rhyldrin about it later. Judith stood and looked down at her children. "Please, stay in the house today." she said to them and smiled. "You have plenty of toys here anyways." Vaden nodded and went to a wooden chest at the end of his bed. He began to pull out various toys that he loved. Sophie seemed annoyed though, she didn't want to spend a day inside playing with toys, she thought that that was boring. Though she eventually dragged herself to her own chest, deciding to listen to her mother for once. Judith left the room when the children began to play, she wandered over to her own room and lingered by the doorway for a bit. She wasn't sure if Rhyldrin was asleep or not but if he was then she would try her best not to wake him. She raised an eyebrow at Vrine who she noticed was up on the bed when he shouldn't be. She quietly walked to the other side of her bed and crawled into it. Judith let out a sigh and laid on her side. Her eyes wandered over Rhyldrin, he seemed so beat up how could he always do that to himself? "I'm only letting you on the bed this one time." she whispered to Vrine and ran her hand down his side, the dragon snorted at her. |
Vrine moved a little so Judith had more room, though the dragon was hardly willing to give up his spot. Even if Rhyldrin had been strict on him where Judith and the children weren't the dragon had a certain bond with him still. The only good thing that the dragon really had going for him was that once elves hit a certain age they didn't age like humans or other races that had life spans of 100 years maybe at max. Though at the same time with the war that had been going on between the two races most that were elderly didn't make it through.
Rhyldrin never moved if he was pretended to be asleep when Judith came back. Though with his current state he was pretty much out anyway. He could only reject rest for so long before his body gave in. Normally he could use what he had trained in for five years without any affects to him. Only the large scale spells like the ones he had been preforming for the past two days really took a toll on him. As far as his plans after he made sure Abel was home .. he didn't have any. at first he was going to avoid seeing Judith. He didn't want to open any old wounds by seeing her.. but apparently fate had other ideas for the two of them. Was it for the better though, even though he was sleeping his mind was still being restless or at least every once in a while it would drift into the thoughts of going over what information he had now. It wasn't like he had to go on missions he had passed the training.. his main plan was to continue being a sword for hire.. in certain areas that line of work was picking back up due to race cross overs from other lands and a few small skirmishes between the two elves. Though.. if he was going to try to stay here. A job that didn't require him to cover the four corners of the continent might be a better idea. He'd figure out something after he woke up.. his head was starting to kill him by this time. It'd probably still feel like he was kicked by a horse when he woke up. (~yay a bunch of random nothings x'D~) |
Judith was quite tired herself, if she wasn't cooking or cleaning she was chasing after Sophie and Vaden, mostly Sophie of course. If she wasn't even chasing after them she was dealing with Vrine and his constant need for attention. She also had to walk to the capital, it wasn't that far but it was still a good walk there and back to get supplies. Right now taking a nap sounded like a good idea. Just a little one so that she could have some energy for the rest of the night. She didn't feel too worried about Sophie today, the girl seemed to be listening for once and that meant that Vaden wouldn't be where he shouldn't be either. Judith knew that she didn't have to worry about sleeping too much. Vrine would probably nudge at her to feed him somewhere in the early evening, she usually started supper at that time as well. Judith buried her face into her pillow and let out a happy sigh. Then she fell asleep. Judith was right when she assumed that Vrine would wake her up. She felt him nudging her hand and when she let out a groan and ignored him he nibbled on her fingers. "Stop it," she mumbled and lifted her head from her pillow. Rhyldrin was still asleep beside her and she smiled, it was good that he was finally allowing himself to get some rest. She lifted herself from the bed and stood, Judith stretched out her arms above her head and let out a yawn. Vrine followed her out of the room and into the kitchen. When she placed a bowl full of leftovers on the ground the dragon began to eat it happily. "I don't understand why you beg at the table when you get it anyways." she said to him and laughed quietly. Sophie and Vaden had come out from their rooms, they had gone into the living room which now looked as if a big gust of wind had torn through it. Toys were scattered all over and she noticed that the fire place had been lit. Judith was about to yell at them for it, though Sophie was probably the one who had done it but as she looked at them she realised that they were asleep. Judith pulled a blanket off of the floor that was covered in toys and laid it on top of them, they were passed out on the couch, clinging to each other. She almost looks like an angel, Judith thought and looked at Sophie. How can a little girl be so much trouble sometimes? Then she went back to the kitchen to begin to cook. |
Even after Vrine and Judith left he seemed to stay asleep a while longer. Though it wasn't much longer, his head was hardly going to let him stay asleep. Opening his eyes finally he sighed slightly before moving a hand to rub his forehead. 'not doing this again' He complained under his breath knowing he'd have this headache for at least another few hours. Really he hadn't noticed that Judith even took a short nap.. he probably would have questioned how out of it he was if he did know... he disliked not having his guard up at least a little. Not that he needed it here but still.
Vrine had just finished eating by the time Rhyldrin had bothered to get up. Quickly making a chirp sound it walked over to him and started whining for attention right away. "Your still a pest you know that" He laughed slightly before picking the dragon up and holding him with his belly up. "There happy now your getting attention." Vrine cooed a little not really seeming to mind that he was upside down. Seeing as the dragon had met him before he had walked out of the room he walked towards the kitchen hearing some noise from there. Seeing as Judith was busy he leaning against the door way still holding the dragon. Really he was still half asleep himself so he hardly minded just standing there. Though he was ready to listen to her tell him that he needed to rest more... though he'd disagree with her on that. (lame post is lame xD) |
Rhyldrin startled Judith when she realised that he was there. She had been too busy preparing supper to notice him right away. She walked over to him and smiled at Vrine in his arms. "Isn't he heavy?" she asked curiously then ran her hand along his belly. The dragon cooed and wiggled a bit in Rhyldrin's arms from the touch. Judith brought her hand away afraid that Rhyldrin may drop him if he moved too much, she had forgotten that Rhyldrin was ticklish on his belly. "I'm making something for supper, are you finally going to eat?" she asked and looked at Rhyldrin. Judith didn't want to annoy Rhyldrin but she wanted to know if he really did plan to stay and if she should tell the children that he was their father. "Are you going to stay?" she asked, Judith seemed like a puppy begging for a treat or a child that really wanted a toy. "I understand if you're busy or if you don't want to though." Judith would be disappointed if he decided to leave but she couldn't make him stay if he didn't want to. |
"Eh.. not really" He seemed to shrug it off is he was heavy, though he didn't seem to really be struggling with holding him so he couldn't have been too heavy. Vrine whined a little after Judith stopped rubbing his belly but he settled back down after a moment trying to look at both of them standing there. "spoiled.. " He said again before setting Vrine back down on the floor, the dragon hardly seemed pleased with being set back down. Rhyldrin stood back up before answering her, he thought of a few smart remarks but didn't say any of them. "If I do will you stop worrying?"
Sure she had a right to worry about him but still.. he did think she worried too much at times. Maybe it was a female thing, either way it was probably a good thing someone worried cause he never seemed to. Vrine sat next to Judith and looked at Rhyldrin seeing if he could con a bit more attention out of either of them, though he knew he probably wasn't going to win Rhyldrin over. He'd have to wait till the children were awake again. He didn't answer her question at first, thinking if it was better to stay or not. Sure she wanted him to stay and truth be told he didn't want to leave.. things could be different now it wasn't like before where it was a risk of both of them being shunned.. or at least not as badly anyway. "I was planning to stay. I do have a few errands I need to take care of but it won't involve me traveling off anywhere" One was a talk with the king of the light elves, he felt like he at least owed him a thank you or some form of debt for looking after Judith all this time. With her last sentence he smiled a little at her before moving a hand under her chin lightly and making her look at him. "I've been busy for the past five years. I think i'm due for time off. I already said I wasn't leaving as long as you want me here I'll stay. I don't have to accept any assignments from the Circle of Magic." Though he was going to have to figure out some form of work that would keep him close to this area... he had a good idea of where to look. He let go of her chin, though he was still watching her. "it's your choice, it's been your choice all this time." Really he would have rather known five years ago about what he was just finding out, but it couldn't be helped now. At the least he could try work things through now. Though this was hardly where he thought he'd see himself.. in this situation where he was planning to settle down somewhere. But it'd probably be better for his health anyway.. it'd keep him out of taking on assignments that could potentially get him killed. |
Judith always struggled with moving Vrine. Sometimes when he would beg at the table she would have to use all of her strength to push him away. Maybe she wasn't as fit as she once was before she had the children, though she had managed to keep off any unwanted weight. Judith's hand wandered to one of Vrine's ears and she began to scratch him. She looked down at the dragon and smiled at his reaction to the touch. "Vaden mostly gives him attention, I will find them sleeping together or playing games. Sophie sneaks him food often. I try not to spoil him that much, I'm more strict with him. I don't even allow him in my bed anymore but if one of the children sleep with me he forces his way on to the bed." she let out a sigh and looked back at Rhyldrin. "My feelings for you have not changed a bit," she said and approached Rhyldrin. She placed her hands on his shoulders and rested her head against his chest. "There wasn't a day that I didn't think about you or worry about you." Judith looked up at Rhyldrin and smiled. "It's nice that you're back." |
"I'm sure your still easier on him then I ever was... though i wasn't sure how you were suppose to train a hatchling either. I always thought something was wrong with him cause he never acted like any dragon I had heard of.." Though it was sort of funny in it's own way.. the dragon acted more like a family pet then anything. He had thought about taking him to the northern region to see if somehow the dragon could be released there.. but it seemed like that wasn't going to happen. He smiled a little at her saying the Vrine would work his way into the bed, he never mentioned that Vrine had always managed to work his way into the bed no matter what he did when he was a baby.
He listened to her, really he sort of felt bad that he seemed to cause her to worry so much.. sure it came with the profession but he didn't have to be as reckless as he was. He wrapped his arms around her to hold her close, something he had wanted to do over five years ago. "You really do worry too much.. have I once left you for good? I told you I'd come back" Vrine watched the two of them before walking off to the living room, the dragon seemed bored with the two of them finally. "I'm not leaving this time, and I'll look for something else to do with myself so you won't have to worry" He said with a slight smile on his face, really he should have just stayed in the first place and found some form of work near here. She wouldn't have had to do all of this by herself then for all these years. "To be honest.. I'm sorry I left. It crossed my thoughts I should write you to see how you were but I didn't want to ruin whatever life you had found for yourself. Heh.. I was satisfied thinking you were happy somewhere" Sure there was more he could say but why .. she could probably guess he had missed her. After a moment he did let her go before speaking again. "As much as I'm enjoying just standing here.. I think you have a few things you need to attend to" Seeing as she was cooking before he interrupted her. Plus his head was still killing him. 'I wonder if Abel got up with Jagen... ugh I'll go find him tomorrow so he can send that report' He thought to himself, it was better to at least make sure it got the right information on it.. and knowing Jagen it'd never get sent unless someone reminded him. He had something he needed to do in the capital tomorrow anyway.. so it wasn't like it was that out of the way. |
Judith hesitated to return to what she had been doing. She had not began to cook yet she was just laying out what she needed and wanted to use. It made her happy to know that Rhyldrin would stay and try to find some work here rather than taking off for days. If she didn't see him for a few days because he had found work elsewhere she didn't mind, she would mind if she didn't see him for months though. Then again she couldn't control everything and if they needed it then she would have to get use to not seeing him as often as she would like to. She smiled at Rhyldrin and played nervously with the strings on her shirt. "I think that we should tell them," she said, Judith managed to keep the smile on her face. It made her nervous when she thought about telling her children that Rhyldrin was their father. Though she didn't think that either would react too badly. They would probably be happy to have someone else around the house, especially Vaden who always asked where his father was and when he would come home. "If you stay here then they should know." she added, Judith leaned out of the kitchen and peered into the living room where the children were still sleeping. Vrine had gone to them now, he had climbed up on to the couch and was curled up into a ball in an attempt to fit in what little space he had. The dragon let out a say as he closed his eyes, he would wait until the children woke up to play and beg for attention. |
He wasn't sure if he agreed with telling the children.. sure it was their right to know if he was planning to stick around. But at the same time five years ... that was a lot of time to a child. That was a lot of time that wouldn't be easy to make up.. he knew that but it was only because he had lost his parents when he was rather young. Hell even the work he could probably get would have a daily risk to it it's not like he could just go turn a new leaf at the snap of a finger. He sighed finally knowing she was right they'd have to tell them.. he really didn't want to be around for the reaction though.
"I guess it's more of when... " He was a little concerned about how they would take the news. They were use to having just Vrine and Judith around but to just suddenly tell them that someone that's not been around for five years and just suddenly showed up is their father... He saw this ended badly in some form or another. Though he didn't say anything about his worries, but the more he thought about the more he knew something was going to go wrong with this idea. The girl from what he saw was a little spark for sure, but he doubted either one of them would take to the news very well. "So when are we going to tell them.. heh I'm not even sure how you bring that up really.." He'd rather take on any foe then have to deal with this.. any day. This was hardly in his plans from a few years ago not that he minded deep down, but it was't his strong point and he had little to no knowledge of what to do with children. Vrine shifted again trying to find a spot to be comfortable in, he finally did even if he did look like he was squished. |
Judith didn't know when would be the proper time to tell the children that Rhyldrin was the father. She couldn't just wake them up and tell them, she would have to wait. It wasn't appropriate to tell them at dinner or before bed so maybe she would bring herself to tell them after dinner when they had settled down and were playing with each other and Vrine. "You don't have to tell them," she said and Rhyldrin and looked at him. "It's going to be difficult to bring up but I think that I can manage to do it on my own. Please don't worry about it, alright?" she smiled at him even though it was hard to smile. Deep down Judith was all over the place. She had not expected to ever see Rhyldrin again and somewhere deep down didn't want to because of the children. She felt as if she was in his way of living the life that he wanted. Though she was also happy that she had crossed paths with him again, it really did seem as if they were meant to stay together. Judith looked over at Vrine curled up beside the two sleeping children. "He's never going to stop being an attention whore," she said and laughed. "I'm sorry that I ruined what training that you had done with him. I don't know too much about how a dragon should be raised but I have tried to be strict with him." she let out a sigh and returned to what she had been doing. "You're not going to get away with not eating this time," she said and looked over at Rhyldrin. "Don't argue with me or insist that you don't need food or that you're not hungry." then she went back to chopping vegetables. |
"heh.." was his only reply to her saying he didn't have to tell them, really he was glad to hear it cause he had no idea where to start that one at. Though he did catch that she seemed to be forcing herself.. what was it. She wasn't as easy to read as she was when they were kids he could always pick out when she was thinking about something or when she was down. But now he couldn't, not that it was really a surprise quite a bit had happened over the last few years before the peace even he couldn't really tell what she was thinking. "you tell me not to worry yet I know damn well you have something on your mind.. " He laughed slightly "I think I should be the one telling you not to worry not the other way around."
Once she started talking about the dragon he sort of looked at the curled up Vrine and shrugged a little. "I didn't have him trained to begin with.. just simple commands.. I was training him like you would a dog. Thats the best I had, everything I had looked up on them said they were sensitive dragons and that the environment they were raised in affects them." He sighed a little before going on "But I hardly know what that means.. he's been raised like a house pet for most of his life." Though he was still trying to figure out what they were going to do with him once he got some real size to him.. the dragon wouldn't stay small for long and at his full size he'd be larger then the house easily. "I wouldn't worry about it too much, he seems healthy so you must have been doing something right" He said towards her though he was still a little lost in his own thoughts. He was about to say something else when she suddenly told him he wasn't getting away with his normal lines and to not argue with her. He held up both hands as a sort of sign of defeat before he spoke "Wouldn't dream of it.. not while your holding a sharp object anyway" He smirked a little, really he probably didn't have to worry about her and her skills anymore. Not if she hadn't practiced in a while.. but then again he wasn't about to test her too much either. |
Judith decided that she would tell the children after supper, she told Rhyldrin and he seemed alright with the idea though really neither of them were alright with it. It wouldn't be an easy thing to tell the children that he was their father, she couldn't even imagine how she would begin to tell them. How could she possibly bring up that subject with them? Judith paused for a moment attempting to calm herself before going back to preparing their meal. After supper she had not brought it up right away. She thought that it would be better to tell them when they were settled in the living room playing with Vrine. She began to clean up but nothing could distract her from her thoughts. Judith wandered into the living room after she was done cleaning and was quiet for some time before the children looked up realising that she was there. She brought herself to where they sat, in front of the fire place. Judith brought herself to her knees and ran a hand over Vrine's head and smiled at her children. "There's something that I have to tell you two," she said it with ease but deep down she was nervous. Sophie and Vaden looked at their mother listening. "I know that this may be sudden but Rhyldrin will be staying with us." she said, Sophie tilted her head curious of the reason behind this. "Why?" she asked without hesitation. Judith smiled nervously at her daughter. Judith didn't really know how to tell them, though she eventually just decided to come out with it. "Well, he's going to be a very important man in your life. He has not been here for the past five years, but he will be here from now on." the children stared at her, both knew what she was saying but at the same time wanted her to be more clear. Judith let out a sigh, this was as hard as she had thought it would be. "He's your father." she said. Vaden smiled and hugged his mother, he was excited by the news though Sophie's face dropped and she seemed unsure how to react. Sophie stood, Judith did as well. "Sophie, what's wrong?" she asked as she examined her daughter's face, what was going through the little girl's mind? "I'm going for a walk!" she cried then ran to the door, she opened it and fled from the house. "Sophie! Come back here!" Judith screamed she ran to the door and peered out but she couldn't see her daughter anywhere. |
Sure he didn't mind her idea, but what could he do they would need to know. Though the more time that passed he seemed to question if staying was a good idea let alone how could you ask someone or tell them that there was a person who wasn't here for the past five years was now going to be part of their lives. Either way he didn't voice his thoughts, he was sure that they'd find out soon enough how the children would react.
He didn't get in Judith's way of explaining, really he stayed very much out of the way not really wanting to know how the two reacted. Though he did hear the whole conversation between the three. Watching Judith run to the door after the girl he walked up next to her before speaking. "I'll go look for her." He felt like it was partly his fault anyway, the girl didn't seem thrilled about the news. Sure he had no idea really aside from a general direction the girl went.. but he could track someone far easier then Judith could in the forest that was certain. Besides that the girl hardly seemed to listen to Judith anyway so things couldn't be that much worse. (grr lame post is lame i will make up for it D<) |
( Alright, since we have no clue where to go from here we will go back in time and change some things up. Back to when they first met each other again! c: ) Judith breathed in carefully afraid that the knife that had been placed against her throat would easily sink into her skin. Her snow white eyes looked into his. If this Dark Elf were to kill her then he would have to look at her in the process. Though she had her doubts that he would kill her, especially if she managed to get her own dagger. Judith didn't take her eyes away from the Dark Elf, even as she moved her hand slowly to her side. If she looked down he might become aware of what she planned to do and that wouldn't help her at all. Judith didn't want to die, she was still young and had a lot of potential. All she could think about was how her parents would react to news of her death, it would break their hearts and other Light Elves would be devastated as well. Though when she thought of her brother she didn't think that he would shed a tear for her. He never did seem to love her like a brother should. When she finally reached her dagger she slipped it out and didn't hesitate to bring it to the Dark Elf's stomach. She pressed it against his stomach, threatening to sink it into his flesh without a second thought. Judith didn't want to kill, it was the last thing that the poor girl ever wanted to do. She didn't even want to be involved with the war but the elders had seen something in her that she didn't even have. She missed her home, her parents and the other Light Elves. Judith let out a heavy breath, now wasn't the time to let her mind wander off. She had to concentrate. Besides the Dark Elf probably wouldn't spare her if he didn't have a good reason to. This was probably a very good reason to let her go. Even if he didn't die from the wound that she would give him, it would probably become infected and then he could die from that. At least she hoped so, if her life ended here then at least the man who killed her would die as well. "If you let me go then I won't harm you," she finally spoke. Judith hesitated to blink, she was afraid that he would slide his knife across her neck because of what she had accomplished. She cursed herself for being so unprepared. Yes, she was well trained with the bow but she lacked training in close up combat. Judith tended to avoid any close up action with the enemy, sometimes if she didn't feel threatened by an enemy she would remain silent as she hid allowing them to pass by peacefully. There was no need to bring attention to herself if it wasn't necessary. The other Light Elves in the war would be furious to learn that she let Dark Elves by without striking them down. It wasn't an official rule but they were always told to kill any Dark Elves on the spot. "I'm not afraid to give you a nasty wound if you decide to take my life." |
He thought he had the upper hand this whole time, careless. To let such a mistake happen. His eyes narrowed a bit as his ears went back to show his annoyed mood at this little stand off they had going. She had the spot right no way he could survive if she pushed the blade there. 'tsk... stupid you now better then to leave their hands free' he scolded himself as he still held the blade to her neck.
Though oddly at the same time he seemed a little amused by this as she spoke. "you've got a little spark don't you" He grinned a bit he didn't trust this girl not to push that blade as soon as he removed his that was certain. "Sorry but I can't follow such a request... not when you have just as much of a advantage here as I" He kept his eyes fixed on hers trying to read her. Though his mind kept going back tot he fact this could be the one who ends him if he played around too much or taunted her onward. Sure he could cut her neck easily.. he might be able to do it before she pushed the dagger into his gut but that was a risk that could be fatal if he failed to get away from her in time. 'tsk shit I don't want to let a damned light elf go... female or not what right do they have to live let alone here in the forest!' Truth be told he wanted nothing better ten to kill her. His talk about doing other things to her before were all in good humor or at least it was humorous for him. He didn't really want to die here either.. this was close to where the light elves patrolled commonly so he'd take a guess there was a encampment close by. That's not what he needed either to have a group of guards find this. He had to admit she did get the better of him though..that along was a rare feat. "ok fine how about this remove your dagger... I won't kill you. Even dark elves have standards.. " Though he was hardly happy about saying that aloud he wouldn't kill her, she did best him if it came down to it and a stale mate didn't seem like a smart idea to either side. He waited to see what she'd do, sure he could go back on his word and most would but ... that's not how he was trained or rather that's not how he was raised before his parents passed. He wouldn't take back his word not if she did as he told her to. Though the next time they met he'd get revenge for sure. |
"I suppose that I do," she said to his comment about her having a spark. She kept the tip of her dagger against his stomach making sure that he could feel it's presence. "If you don't remove yours then I won't remove mine. It's as simple as that, I rather not die but if you choose to take my life then I'm going to take you with me." she said then smiled at the Dark Elf. Judith seemed confident about being able to kill him, even if he decided to take her life. Judith raised an eyebrow at the Dark Elf who still remained on top of her. She didn't really feel as if she could trust him, even though he seemed sincere about what he had said she knew that trusting someone so easily could end her life. Judith didn't even trust some of her fellow Light Elves at times, the war had done that to her. The war had even done more than that to her. Judith hesitated to remove the dagger from his stomach, she actually had to push herself to do such a thing. Her stomach was in knots and her heart was pounding so hard in her chest that she could hear it. "You seem sincere," she said and allowed the dagger to drop from her hand. It fell on the damp grass beside her and she breathed out heavily wondering if what she had just done was smart at all. |
He hardly seemed threatened by her saying she wasn't going to remove her blade till he did so first. He wasn't going to let a light elf tell him what he had to do that was damn sure. He never moved a inch he was sticking to what he had said if she didn't remove her dagger he wasn't removing his blade from her neck. She needed to hurry up and make up her mind he disliked being this close to the light elf patrol area, he had made the trip this far for a simple scouting request to see if he could find what happened to the last spy they sent out this far.
He kept his eyes focused on her, though he was taking in a few features by this time. She really was a catch that was certain.. though he never expected that she'd pull a stunt like she had. If he made it out of this he might start up a deadly game with this one. Though he didn't give in any hints to what he was thinking about as he kept his ground. Her hair though... what was it the color was strange for a light elf, but something about it was eating at him like he remembered such a color from somewhere. He put the thought aside he didn't need to get distracted it'd give the light elf a advantage if he dropped his guard. That was a odd thing to say.. to a enemy anyway. He thought as she spoke saying he seemed 'sincere' After the blade had dropped to the ground he quickly pulled the dagger back from her neck and spun it once before it connected with it's holder. Afterwards he held both hands up for a moment to show he wasn't hiding a second dagger before he spoke. "Tsk.. can't believe I'm letting you live" He sort of hissed out before he bothered to get off of her. He had never been backed into a corner like that even some of the most experienced fighters wouldn't have thought to pull that off with a blade to their throats mere inches from death. He stood a few paces from here making sure that he wasn't giving her enough of a range to draw her bow and fire a shot off. Close range seemed to be her weakness and he was playing into that. Really instead of letting her go he should have killed her, but something in his mind told him not to. That sparing her was the 'right' thing to do... odd time to pick up a conscious. "where ever you came from.. go back to it the field isn't you place" He said coldly to her, he noticed her eyes.. sure she had killed but her eyes were still kind. She didn't belong here. He heard a few shouts not too far from where they were as his ears dropped back again. Though the girl seemed to get distracted for a moment, he guessed they were light elves. In her moment of distraction he slipped from view and left her there, from the sounds of the shouts they didn't notice he was there... they just saw the girl on the ground probably. Once he had covered a few miles he stopped and leaned against a tree catching his breath as he stood there. Curious, he thought why would they send a girl who had no real desire to kill? That was odd indeed. If she didn't take his advice and return to her home he might turn this into a little game of cat and mouse. He smirked at the thought, it had been a while when he last tried to enjoy stalking prey, or that's the way he thought of it. Somehow he didn't see her going home, not if she was the archer that was reported to kill without a sound. The two light elves that had shouted finally got up to Judith as one of them offered to help her up and the other quickly asked what had happened. They wouldn't understand that she didn't strike out at a dark elf so it probably wasn't a good idea to say that. |
A Light Elf having dark hair was a rare occurrence, it was just like a Light Elf being born with darker skin or a Light Elf being born with darker eyes. It didn't happen very often, Light Elves usually shared the same characteristics. Fair skin, eyes as white as snow and light hair. Though those who were born with different features were not shunned. Other Light Elves envied them because they were different. Judith's mother was pleasantly surprised when her daughter was born with dark hair. As a young child her mother would brush it and whenever Judith wanted her hair braided her mother would tend to her hair. Her brother was also born with dark hair like hers. Though he would make a fuss whenever his mother wanted to tend to it. Judith flinched when he finally pulled his blade away from her neck, though he seemed to take his time to get off of her. She let out a heavy breath, relieved to still have her life. Judith found it odd that this Dark Elf was letting her go. Only moments ago he had felt so strongly about killing her, when she had looked into his eyes she saw nothing but a killer thirsting for blood. Judith had encountered some Dark Elves that fought with her even when they lost their weapons in a struggle with her. They had tried to use anything to gain a upper hand, to kill her. She remembered the feeling on ones hands around her neck. Though this one had seemed like those others at first, it seemed as if he had become an entirely different man even if it was for a short time. There seemed to be some good in him. "I don't have a choice," she said to his comment about going home. When she had tried to convince the elders otherwise they dismissed her and told her that she would be good on the battlefield. She wondered if they had sent her there as a cruel joke because of how much trouble she had caused as a small children. Though maybe they were just stubborn and thought that skill could push someone to be a good fighter. Judith looked behind her when she too heard the shouting, they were familiar voices. When she turned back all she could hear was the Dark Elf running away. "I'm fine," she said to the first man, she stood resisting any help from the two. Judith brushed off her clothes that had become dirty from falling to the ground. "I fell," she said when one asked what had happened. "I fell and hit my head quite hard, I don't know how long I have been out." she added then finished brushing off the dirt from her clothes. The two didn't seem too convinced that that had happened, though the didn't question her further. "It's a good thing that you two came along, even if I were still out. I don't want to know what could have happened to me if the enemy found me first." her eyes wandered over the surrounding area, wondering if the Dark Elf was still close by watching the three. Then she looked back at the two men, they seemed a bit on edge. "Let's go back to the camp," she said and pushed past them. Judith wouldn't tell anyone what had truly happened. |
"Well did you find the missing scout?" Was the greeting he got upon returning to a small group of dark elves that were gathered in what seemed to be the middle of no where. "no... but I think I found that archer that's been picking us off" He grinned a bit. The others questioned the look he was getting on his face.
"But that's the last time I'm going out under your orders... " He glared at the one that was about to talk. "I'm no lap dog of the Queen I have no desire to get pulled into this war... I move to my own accord." The one stood up from here he had been sitting as he walked over to Rhyldrin and pushed him against a tree. "Your turning your back on your own people when your one of the best fighters we have next to the Queens own?" He growled at him as he spoke. "Tsk I'd release me if I were you" Rhyldrin warned him before forcing his hand from his shirt collar easily enough. "I'm not one of the Queens lapdogs I refused that off.. As i've stated many times I'm a blade for hire if the light elves gave me payment I'd not have a second thought for working for them" His eyes were cold as he watched the man who had just forced his back against a tree. "Now if your done trying to tell me what I can't do" The man glared at him before turning his back to him "Don't expect help then, though im sure you'll be back once the Queen hears of this" the man grinned a bit before turning back again though his grin dropped as he was met wit a blade that was mere inches from his nose. "If she wants me to follow orders she better issue them herself and it'll be after I've drawn my last breath... that or she better bring her wallet.." The man backed down though he wasn't happy about it. Rhyldrin quickly re-sheathed the sword on his back before he turned to walk away. The man was more then pissed at the sudden outburst. "Grr! What the hell if he thinking, we're in the middle of war and he picks now to declare that he doesn't give a damn" He slammed his fist against a tree before returning to the middle of the group that was still gathered. Really he was just tired of being sent on such missions, send him somewhere to put his skills to use but damn all the search missions that never came back with good news. He hardly seemed worried, and he wasn't so long as the queen had the war to deal with he knew he was safe enough. Also him and the Queen went a ways back.. his father was the head medic of the capital after all. She'd probably let him do as he pleased for now, really the war was in a stalemate as it was. Both sides pushing back and forth there wasn't any end in sight. This break off from the military command also allowed him to hunt down that little flower he had run into that day. He'd have to watch himself though she was quick to draw and fire that was certain. She had nearly gotten him.. even with that he wanted to keep with his little game. It was a risk that was rather exciting to him. If only he knew why his mind kept eating away at him that he should remember something. He didn't have time to worry about that now, or that's what he thought as he walked forward into the night. There was almost no fear for dark elves in the night's shadow, light elves couldn't see in the dark so the only way they could walk at night was with a torch.. and that was easy enough to see from a distance. The two light elves ensured that the girl got back to camp safely enough, though the story was a bit far fetched they left it alone. The dark elf she had run into today had a reputation of his won with the light elves... Though no reports that he ever let one live, it was also the very one her brother was seeking out from unfinished business from years ago. Though he didn't openly speak about the elf his men knew what they were looking for.But rumor was the one he wounded as a child was long dead, but her brother seemed to doubt this for some reason. |
Though the Light Elves had continued picked at Judith for a while they finally gave up when she insisted that what she had said was nothing but the truth. "Why would you think that I was lying?" she barked at them, she was personally insulted that her fellow Light Elves didn't trust her. Though deep down she didn't trust any of them too much either. When they finally reached the camp she was greeted by a few other Light Elves who were curious as to what had happened to her. When Judith told them the same thing they looked at one another and didn't bother to question her either. She wasn't going to change her story at all for anyone. As Judith made her way back to her sleeping quarters her brother Brishen was waiting for her, his arms were crossed over his chest and he didn't seem too happy. "What is it now?" she asked him as she stopped to stand in front of him, Judith had never really liked her brother. As children he often teased her and hurt her, even now he was still cruel to her. Despite Judith being three years older than him, he was much taller than her and he was built. Brishen raised an eyebrow at his sister's question, she usually didn't speak to him like this. She would often be polite to him to avoid conflict. "You fell?" he asked her in a mocking tone. "I hardly believe that you just fell, Judith." he added then looked at her waiting for the truth. For a moment she thought of telling him what had really happened, but she quickly dismissed such thoughts. "Well, believe it or not that is what had happened." she said then slipped into her quarters quickly. Brishen didn't follow her, she heard him mumble something then walk away. She sighed relieved that her brother had decided not to bother with her. Judith fell into an uncomfortable bed that was just big enough for her body. Judith closed her eyes and couldn't help but think about the Dark Elf that had let her go. There was something about him, she thought to herself and buried her face into a lumpy pillow. What was it? His hair? No, it wasn't that. Judith opened her eyes and looked around the small room. There was something about his face, I have seen it before. There was something about his eyes. She brought a hand to her face and massaged her temples, all of this thinking was giving her a headache. Oh never mind, I'll never see him again anyways. Judith closed her tired eyes and began to attempt to sleep. It took some time before she finally did. |
During the night he had ventured back towards where he had crossed paths with that strange girl. The one person that had given him such a close call.. his life was in her hands for a few long moments. It's annoyed him the longer he thought about it, he had let himself get careless thinking it was just a female. Stupid on his part, he thought as he paced the area trying to get his mind off of whatever was bothering it. 'Why do I keep thinking that I should remember something' He was frustrated with this as he left the area finding that staying here wasn't helping his thoughts at all.
Though he was hardly done with the girl... he could toy with her a bit longer if he ran across her again, the odds were they'd send her into a similar area. He knew the direction of the light elf camp and was dangerously close to it in his traveling through the night. It was just a small camp, he counted maybe 50-70 heads strong.. a few more then he could take on by himself that was certain. Though he wasn't looking to start a fight just yet either. Quickly leaving the area he at least had a better idea of what he could expect in this area.. that meant they'd have at least ten patrols during the day a few scattered about at the night hours. The rest was just to prevent dark elves from gathering a few units together to take out the encampment. As it grew closer and closer to being dawn he made sure to cover enough distance to prevent any patrols from crossing his path so he could rest during the morning and peek hours of the day. Though this was a little risky on it's own, he probably should have abused the cover of the Queen's men for a bit longer. But he was use to sleeping with one eye open so to speak.. he'd just have to watch himself. Though he did put enough distance between the light elf encampment and himself to prevent the normal patrol range from crossing his path.. if they sent anyone to just walk the forest that didn't mean they wouldn't run into him. He did try to pick a spot out of the way and in a darker section of the woods. Aside from that he was staying up in the tree, like hell he was about to sleep on the ground, though the tree put him at a disadvantage if a archer spotted him. But that was a risk he'd have to deal with if it came to it. The light elves and dark elves had a few small skirmishes before day break came around, some close to the camp of the light elves seeing as Rhyldrin did pass that information along. It'd be wise for the light elves to move the camp.. but they probably wouldn't not with the general of the camp being Brishen.. his name even had meaning over in the dark elves area. He was well known for being ruthless and taking captives to get information out of them before killing them in some brutal way. Most stayed clear of the camp just to avoid crossing blades with Brishen... Rhyldrin thought things a little differently, being this close to your enemy kept him on his toes and it was also the last place they'd probably look for a sole dark elf being a few mere miles from their base. He'd hardly care if he crossed this so called dark elf slayer.. he'd test the rumors to see if his strength was able to hold true. |
Judith had spent most of the night tossing and turning, it seemed like her body was protesting a good night's sleep. She was having nightmares again, they always seemed to come back when she began to think that they would leave her alone. Every hour or so she woke up, her throat felt dry but her entire body was drenched in sweat. At one point she became restless and left her sleeping quarters to take a brief walk. It was always the same dream she was being chased by Dark Elves or some sort of creature that she had never seen before, she couldn't really tell what it was before she abruptly woke up. She would sometimes wake up screaming, though no one questioned her behaviour or asked if she was alright. Other men suffered from nightmares, it was common. When Judith returned to her bed she couldn't sleep anymore. She had thought that taking a brief walk would calm her but all it really did was make her feel more awake. It was early in the morning now anyways, others would be up and then she would be expected to be awake as well. She let out a heavy sigh and rubbed her tired eyes. She wanted to go home but it wouldn't be allowed. Maybe I can pretend that I have gone insane, she thought and laughed to herself. It wouldn't be that hard to believe. She pushed herself to get out of bed, she really didn't want to leave it's warmth but she had to. Judith pulled out clean clothes from under her bed and removed the dirty ones, once she was dressed she strapped her pouch full of arrows to her waist then her dagger. Judith took her bow then left. She had a feeling that it was going to be a tedious day. A few men said good morning to her as she left the camp, though she kept to herself. It always worried her that she was surrounded by men. Judith didn't think that all men were bad, but war changed people. It didn't help that one of the top men had been eyeing Judith ever since she was a teenager. The forest shook as the wind pushed the trees and other plant life. Judith had been wandering around for some time, she was being cautious though. She didn't feel like encountering any enemies today or any other Light Elves, she just wanted to be left alone. She brought herself to a rather large tree and pressed her back against it. She slid to the ground and sat on the cool ground. Judith closed her eyes for a moment then opened them to examine the surrounding area. She wished that she could live in the forest. It felt so peaceful, it was quiet and it was beautiful. |
Even in his resting state he knew someone was near, though he wasn't going to make any movements just yet. They didn't seem to notice him so why start something. The person was about 40 paces away so it was a safe enough distance so long as he wasn't discovered. Though his luck was going to run out soon, as if he wasn't already taking a risk by being this close to the enemies camp.
He had no real motive, sure he enjoyed killing but that hardly meant that's all he did with his free time. Also it didn't seem like a smart move to go about killing the patrols with the main force of this camp so close. The person that had been walking about seemed to stop, this eased his thoughts of being discovered a little as he kept both eyes closed. His breathing remained faint though he did move a hand to rest on one of the daggers he had with him just in case. Little did he know the bigger enemy wasn't even the person that was walking near by... it was a smaller creature. A small furry creature was making it's way up the tree to be near Rhyldrin. The beast had been tracking down it's keeper this whole time, being use to being left behind. It sat there clinging to the side of the tree a few inches from Rhyldrin and making little to no sound as it seemed to think of what to do. It's white fur made it stick out against the tree bark, the small wings that seemed useless as they laid flat against it's back had crimson colors scales covering them till they met up with the fur, the webbing of the wings were a almost transparent white. Apparently Rhyldrin had been too focused on the stranger walking near by so he never noticed the hatchling that had come to his side. The creature made a sudden high pitched screech loose near his ear, it sounded fearful in it's cry seemingly confused by the elf had not moved when he had approached. The sudden noise was something he wasn't expecting as he missed his footing for a second before catching himself before dropping to the ground. Standing after he had landed he rubbed one ear before glaring at the tree watching the small creature climb down the trunk. He was still a bit groggy and having nearly fallen from a tree hadn't helped matters. The creature cooed lightly staying on the side of the tree as it looked over at Rhyldrin. It didn't seem to understand why he was getting such a look from it's keeper. Though it was still very young and about that time Rhyldrin really regretted keeping the thing, this was going to get him killed. After his thoughts came back to him he quickly drew both blades from their sheaths as he stood there with his ears back, the noise probably tipped off whoever was near-by. 'tsk... stupid dragon..' he hissed under his breath as the creature moved from the tree and quickly climbed to sit on his shoulder. Though it knew very well what it's keeper was doing by this point as it remained quiet this time around. For the time being he didn't see anyone, though he knew he heard someone not moments ago walking the forest floor was good at giving people away. But it bothered him he didn't pay closer attention to the direction. 'just what i need a scout spotting me here and telling the commander in charge of that camp.. heh' though t would probably draw the leader of the camp out at the idea of a sole dark elf this close and knowing most generals he'd probably want to show his troops how strong he was by killing the intruder. |
Judith had surprisingly fallen asleep shortly after she had sat down. She had not planned to fall asleep, especially in the forest where most Dark Elves could be found. She had tried very hard to keep her tired eyes open but once she had closed them again they remained closed. Though she hadn't slept for long before she was abruptly woken by what seemed to be a high-pitch cry. Her eyes shot open and she slammed her head against the trunk behind her, the noise had scared her. Judith groaned softly and massaged the back of her head. What was that? she thought then stood cautiously. She tried to replay the noise in her head but eventually couldn't remember it. She had never heard something like that before. She finally removed her hand from the back of her head and picked up her bow that she had placed beside her. Judith's looked over the surrounding area, a mixture of fear and curiosity overcame here as she began to walk towards where she thought that the noise had come from. Maybe I was just dreaming again, she thought then let out a sigh. I don't remember if I was dreaming though. Judith couldn't even remember a dream that had had such a noise like that. It could have been a wild animal, maybe a few fighting and nothing else. Judith ran her free hand over a few trees as she continued to walk, she moved quickly and quietly, not wanting to alert any possible enemies of her presence. Her eyes continued to shift from one place to another, she couldn't let her guard down. If they did see her then at least she would see them as well, she hoped that anyways. Judith's ears perked up as she heard a sudden noise, she narrowed her eyes and stopped walking immediately. She brought her free hand to her side by her pouch and wondered if she should draw an arrow. |
He stood there a few moments before lowering the blades and putting them back in the sheaths. Though he did keep one hand close to where a dagger was, he was hardly putting his guard down. He didn't hear anything as he waited, he was expecting at least a arrow to be shot at him or troops to be rushing to the area if it was a scout that he heard before. Though both seemed to not happen, odd.. he thought to himself before he started walking thinking it was better to leave this spot at the least.
He was planning to scold the dragon once he found a safer location to do so in but for now he kept his noise to a minimal. He wasn't sure if he was alone just yet, but apparently if there was someone in the area they didn't know his location either. Rhyldrin wasn't about to play this game to wait and see who found who first.. not this early in the morning. Not with the odds against him in this situation, the disrupted sleep not helping any though he did have a few good hours worth so if combat came up he'd make due. He probably got off at least four or five steps before the dragon suddenly jumped from his shoulder and darted off into the forest. "tsk damn it!" He hissed out before he moved to go after it. 'stupid lizard.. where did you go' He was tying to find it and keep his location hidden. If he didn't locate the thing soon he'd leave it, though it was odd to think he was even wasting this much time looking. It scurried along the forest floor as it spotted a girl standing there, being curious and a attention whore it walked up to her with a soft cooing sound. It just wanted attention and it's small size probably wouldn't scare anyone, though dragons in these parts were very rare. The creature had smelled the girl and thus why it ran over to her, it was probably too friendly for it's own good at time and probably Rhyldrin's as well. Hearing the coos he smirked knowing it's location though about the time he noticed it's location his ears went back as he drew his swords again. 'tsk...' that's not what he was expecting to turn a corner and walk into. His weapons were drawn as soon as he noticed the bow though it was unloaded for the moment he knew too well the speed archers had even at this range a shot would be fetal. The dragon hardly seemed worried as it sat in the distance that was between the two of them before letting out a yawn. Rhyldrin was hardly amused, sure he remembered the red hair.. but that didn't mean the outcome would be the same with her having the upper hand even with a unarmed bow. 'should have just left the damn thing' he thought to himself, he felt like a idiot even bothering to follow the damn dragon it'd have come back.. it always did. |
Judith turned as she heard the little dragon cooing, she stared at her confused as to how such a creature could be out here. At first she wasn't too sure what it was, but then it became clear that the creature was a dragon. From it's size she assumed that it wasn't that old. Probably a few months, maybe a year or two but she wasn't really sure. She brought her attention to the trees that surrounded her. Did it have an owner and was that person near? She wasn't sure if she should approach it or not, though it didn't seem to be a threat. Then again maybe it had been trained to lure unsuspecting people into a trap. Judith slowly approached the little dragon, she brought herself to her knees and reached out one hand very slowly, she didn't want to frighten the poor creature. "What's your name?" she asked softly, when the dragon nuzzled his face against her hand she smiled. "You just want some attention, don't you?" she asked. Judith began to scratch under his chin, then behind his ears. Judith couldn't help but laugh quietly to herself, the dragon was acting like a kitten. |
He sighed under his breath thanking everything she didn't seem to notice him. That's not what he needed she'd surely call for help if she encountered the same dark elf twice within a 24 hour period.. Though he was a bit annoyed he had to retrieve the dragon some how.. or he could leave it with her couldn't he. It's not like the beast had done him any favors and really he wasn't losing anything by leaving it with someone else.
The dragon coo'ed more and purred as she paid more attention to it. It was hardly use to getting what it wanted, it was with Rhyldrin after all he didn't have time to attend to it's wants when they were in the middle of a war zone. It rolled onto it's back before wiggling back and forth against the ground. Rhyldrin was still staying where he was trying to think if he wanted to leave the dragon or not. She seemed to have her guard down for the moment and she wasn't really paying attention to say the least 'why the hell would they send someone that's so easily distracted to the front line?' He had to admit the elders of her kind must hate her or something for them to send her out here. Granted she was a good shot that was certain.. Putting both blades away again he sighed before stepping out from where he had been stalking her and the hatchling. The dragon quickly rolled back over to stand up before trotting happily over to him. he had both hands up showing he wasn't holding a weapon, trying to prevent her from freaking out and drawing her bow. Though even if she did draw he had a few other tricks to avoid getting killed here. He glared at the dragon as it walked over to him. "you get me into more trouble.. " he hissed at it. He half wondered if the goddess hated him or something or wished to see his death sooner then later. Though granted he did go against the messenger to the goddess.. or also known as the Queen of the dark elves but still! The dragon cooed at him though he wasn't amused by it before he spoke again "You better take that elsewhere, your already in trouble without trying to be cute... " After he made sure he wasn't going to get a arrow as a greeting he'd take his leave. If he knew it was this girl again he would have had a bit more fun with this but he didn't have the upper hand this time. |
Judith hesitated to attack the Dark Elf as he showed that he had no weapons. Why attack someone who had no intention of attacking her? Though she wouldn't let her guard down as she had just moments ago, she should have known better. Of course the dragon had an owner, it seemed friendly and wasn't afraid of her. It would make sense that it was use to Elves since it was the pet of one. Judith stood from where she had sat and kept her eyes on the Dark Elf. Is this the same one? she thought as her eyes wandered over his body. Her question was answered when she saw the familiar scar under his eye. How many Dark Elves could have that? His other features were also familiar. She had to try very hard not to smile at what he had said to the dragon. The little dragon had made him come out from where he was watching her, she wondered why he had allowed it to come along with him if all it did was get him into trouble. "Why bring him?" she asked him curiously. Judith kept her free hand by her side, preparing herself to defend herself if needed. "If all he does if cause you trouble it doesn't make any sense to bring him along." she smiled at the Dark Elf, she couldn't hold it back. |
He wasn't sure if she was going to attack or not at first. Though he did lower his hands but it was also in case she decided it was better to try and shoot him. Really he could have killed her when she had her guard down, but why waste the energy on it. she said before she didn't want to kill .. so why bother killing someone who isn't a killer her eyes still looked as innocent as the other day.
The dragon cooed more and pawed at his leg. Getting another glare from Rhyldrin the dragon snorted before trotting it's self back toward the girl. It was only doing this because she had given it attention before and it knew all too well Rhyldrin was mad at it for running off. The girl's question of why he brought it along was a bit sudden. He gave her a slightly unamused look before answering. "I didn't let him go anywhere, I left him at home, where he should learn to stay before someone decides to cook him as a meal.." He still held one hand near a dagger he wasn't going to trust this girl not after the last encounter. Though he had to admit the last one was fun in it's own way. This was hardly the best place to be chatting with a light elf.. probably only a mile away from the camp he had scouted out last night. He was asking for a death wish wasn't he. "tsk really if you want him you can keep him, it'd be doing me a favor" He said out of the blue, the dragon seemed to like her enough why not leave it with her. It'd be her problem then and not his, though at his luck the damn thing would still go off and find him or he'd end up running into this girl again... "whatever your choice I'm leaving. I hardly feel like being killed or tortured today.. heh let alone with the odds stacked against me" He smirked a bit with a slight gesture towards the direction of the camp. Though a second later he turned and started walking away from her, sure it was probably stupid to put your back to a archer.. but he some how didn't see her wanting to draw and kill him. The dragon titled it's head watching Rhyldrin walk off a little before it looked to the girl again as if waiting to see her answer. Apparently the creature wasn't as dumb as it acted. Though really Rhyldrin had reasons for cutting this encounter short, he heard a few more footsteps being not too far off. He knew that was probably a patrol group and that's not what he needed to cross paths with during the day time. |
Judith watched the little dragon as he came back to her, her smile became bigger when he began to paw at her leg for attention. "Why would you keep him if he's so much trouble?" she asked then looked up at Rhyldrin. She was a little confused when he told her that she could keep him. Though if he was just going to leave the poor thing here then she would gladly take it back to camp with her and care for it. She would have to hide him though, she didn't want to think about what the others would do if they found out that she had a dragon. Judith had heard about them before, though this was the first time that she had seen one. They were rare and she had never heard of one with white fur either. She really didn't know what to say to such an offer, though it seemed that the Dark Elf really didn't want to keep the little dragon anymore. She heard footsteps behind her and quickly leaned down, Judith reached out her hand and when the little dragon climbed into it she quickly placed him in her pocket. "Stay in there and please be quiet." she whispered to him. When Judith turned her eyes met her brother's, he didn't seem too happy to see her. |
He never bothered to answer her as to why he kept the dragon, really he didn't have a answer. It had provided company for all the times he traveled alone. Even if it was a bit of a handful from time to time. Either way the dragon was better off with her then with him. She seemed to care more for it at the least. Besides that he wasn't sticking around to see if she took the dragon or not he hardly cared to be honest. If she didn't then the creature would probably track him down later.
The dragon seemed to understand as it kept silent as he was placed in a pocket. It wasn't sure that this was such a good idea, and it half wanted to follow Rhyldrin. Though for now it seemed to know it was better off staying still and keeping it's head down. The dragon was very uneasy with the presence of this new male that was near Judith. The aura he put off was nothing but death and blood lust... Rhyldrin had barely covered enough ground to prevent himself from being seen. 'geese ... cutting this a little too close' he warned himself before he checked this new comer. His eyes narrowed seeing the red hair.. this elf seemed familiar... There was no way this was the same damn one that gave him the scar all those years ago... red was far from a common hair color for light elves and what were the odds of two of them being in the same area like this. He had half a mind to get the jump on this new comer. revenge would be all too bitter sweet if this was the same one from when he was a child. Though that's about the only thing that clicked into his mind, the fact that the girl was probably the one from his childhood as well. From the looks of things this was also the general of this little camp. That made this all the better. Now he needed a plan of some sort.. at the moment the girl was too close she'd be in the way for a clean strike.. sure he could kill her in the process but it was better to get the killing blow in the first strike then it was to miss.. he wasn't going to chance the rumors of this general's skill being true. |
"Judith, what are you doing here?" her brother barked, he always found a reason or two to pick on his sister. Brishen stood straight, his shoulders back and he looked displeased as always. If something wasn't perfect or at least the way he wanted it then he wasn't happy. Though even if things were as he wanted them he still always seemed displeased. Judith couldn't remember the last time she had seem her brother smile, even as children he was always sour. "What does it look like I'm doing?" she asked him, she seemed to be mocking him. Brishen narrowed his eyes and looked over his sister. "Nothing, that's what it looks like. This is the second day that I have heard of you acting strangely, what is causing this behaviour?" Judith hesitated to speak, she really didn't know how to answer that other than telling him the truth. "I'm not acting any different than I usually do, you must be seeing something that isn't there." she laughed quietly to herself. "I can't stay around and chat for much longer, I have to watch for Dark Elves." As Judith turned to leave her brother took hold of her wrist tightly. "I swear, Judith." he hissed under his breath. "If I find out that you're lying-" Judith pulled her hand away from his. "I'm not lying, you can leave me alone now." Judith walked away from her brother, though she avoided the direction that the Dark Elf had gone. She could feel her brother's eyes on her, if looks could kill then she would certainly be dead right now. Judith finally turned once she had walked far enough from her brother, her eyes wandered over the surrounding area making sure that he was gone and had not been following her. She was thankful that he had not followed her because he could really hurt her if he wanted to. He wouldn't even hesitate to do so once he found a good reason to. Judith let out a sigh, relieved that she was finally alone. Except for she really wasn't alone, she had nearly forgotten about the little dragon that she had hid in her pocket. She reached a hand inside on her and smiled when she felt the little dragon nuzzling himself against her hand. She wrapped her fingers around him carefully and took him out. "You're not that bad," she said to him then brought him to her shoulder, when he perched himself upon it she tickled under his chin. "You just want some love, don't you?" she mumbled as she continued to spoil him with attention. "I'm going to keep you," she laughed quietly when the little dragon cooed happily. "Though you have to be quiet and behave, I don't want anyone else to know that I have you." Judith brought her hand away from the little dragon and he chirped happily. How am I going to keep you? Judith thought let out a sigh. I will have to hide you under my bed or bring you with me whenever I leave. I wouldn't want you sneaking out to follow me then one of the other Light Elves capture you. I will have to train you and feed you, what have I gotten myself into? Judith's eyes wandered over the forest, she wondered if that Dark Elf was following her, perhaps he had been the entire time. If he was and if he decided to try something then he would get a nasty surprise. Judith wouldn't allow him to get an upper hand, even if he had a knife to her throat again she would find a way to get out of such a situation. |
