"huh?" That was a question from no where, what was he suppose to say to answer that even. Though he did seem to think about it before answering it, though there was the thought to say nothing. "Well.. you did save my ass back at the fairy capital.. that counts for something. Aside from that what am I suppose to tell you? We have only been traveling for two days now. It's rather hard to say you know someone in that time." He shrugged a little though he wasn't quite done with his answer. "Though seeing as you asked it guess we could put easy on the eyes and not quite as annoying as most of your kind into the mix as well." There was probably a few other things but he didn't voice them, there was also the fact she wasn't like most of her kind, she thought about the issues as she wanted to and not how she was told to.

Dalea was waiting for little things that he liked or for him to just be silent. She nodded slightly at the beginning, figuring that would be all he said. As he continued, she blinked slowly and sort of stared at him. Then she smiled a little. He liked her eyes? Then she nodded slightly, swaying a little. "Thanks."

He shook his head a little. "Your not going to thank me when i tell you that we have to go through one of the largest known human settlements..." He didn't even like the idea, hell if he could avoid it then he would. But they guarded the only pass to get into the area they needed to get to, aside from that it was the safer of the other routes to take.

Dalea looked at him, then nodded slightly. "Humans aren't a problem. You do know that we can use my charm to get through. But, you'd have to be close to me the whole time."

He sighed slightly at the thought of it, it was hardly what he wanted to hear. "Never said they were a issue... was more of thinking if we had to stop there or not as being a issue... seeing as resting near that area is risky." He paused a moment before glancing at her "especially if you glow each time."

Dalea blushed softly. "I can seal that ability when I need to." She put her hands on her hips after a moment. "Well, you wouldn't need to stop inside the city. Human cities aren't so large that you can't cross them in one day.'

"He smirked a little knowing tat had struck a little bit of a nerve with what he said. Though it was the truth after all. "I'm not meaning due to size, more of how they are run, certain entrances are not open at certain times." He shrugged a little. "Though if we keep moving we might be ok, I've just herd rumors about the larger towns cutting pathways off if they are dangerous to mortals during the dark hours."

Dalea blinked at him. Where had he heard that? She then thought. "To not look suspicious, we'd have to act friendly towards each other." She then quickly added before he had the chance. "I know touching me appalls you, but if you want to get through with little trouble, its a good way."

He had to give her a odd look at the word appall. "I wouldn't go that far... heh.. Is it wrong to respect someones personal space?" He shrugged a little, what was that suppose to mean it wasn't like he had said he hated her or didn't have thoughts on the matter ... though he did do a good job earlier of keeping the said thoughts to himself even though she was tempting them.

Dalea blinked, then shook her head slightly. "I guess not." She'd never been told that she was invading their space. This was one weird trip. Then she fluttered along ahead of him a little, thinking to herself and humming a little. It wasn't like he gave her any indecation that he wanted her to touch him. Other than...those thoughts that he wouldn't share with her.

Whatever he had said seemed to kill her talkative mood for a few moments at the least. Though his thoughts were elsewhere to admit it, seeing everything she had tried to do to pry information from him earlier. But that ended up being distracted as he stopped and seemed to search out where a noise he had heard came from, recovering the elven form he had from before instantly. It was probably nothing but he wasn't about to blatantly ignore it risking both of their safety.

Dalea felt him shift back to the elven form he used and she turned to look at him. "Are you alright?" She'd been too deep in thought to have heard whatever it had been that he heard. She wanted to know what had made him be so cautious.

"It's nothing." He said rather quickly before resuming his walking, he was probably just being edgy. To admit it he knew he was getting weaker and it was making his cautious on his actions that was certain. Sure he knew her powers were fine in this area but he disliked the thought that he'd be of little to no help if it was needed, aside from melee combat.

Dalea flew back to flutter beside him. "Are you sure you're alright?" She was concerned for him, but she seemed like she was on edge because of his actions now. She would fight if she needed to, but she really hated ambushes.

"I aid it was nothing, just over reacting." He shrugged a little. "I wouldn't worry about it too much, it's not like there is dragons here or anything heh..." Though in one of the mountain regions they needed to cross there would be, let alone they'd be the fire type and if they were really lucky they might cross paths with a ice dragon or worse in the snowy region. Though he never voiced those thoughts to her, she already seemed edgy just because he had flinched.
"Though here in a bit we should be able to see this damned town." He sighed heavily at the words. "about time too .." he grumbled a little, it felt like he had been walking for forever even though they had a few breaks in the traveling. |
Dalea relaxed a little at his reassurence. Then she seemed to relax as shse fluttered by him. Her mind wandered of what being in the mountains were like. She'd heard stories from the ice pixies that lived up there. They came down for the annual High Fairie Court. It was quite a spectical, many creatures were allowed inside the fairie mound to celebrate in festivities and what not. Though, lately there wasn't much to celebrate for other races.
When he spoke of the human city, she blinked at him. "I'll have to walk soon...sad. I was enjoying myself." |
"Now you know how I feel then.. " He smirked a little. "You know very well Dryads don't normally walk when there is a chance to avoid it." There was enough nature in these areas that he could use his abilities to make traveling faster, though it'd come to a dead halt in it's progression as soon as they hit the snowy mountains. Sadly that was sooner then later. "You know.. it's probably a good thing your tagging along." He never bothered to look at her as he spoke, he didn't want to admit he'd need her help to get across the first range they needed to cross. "Cold weather and I do not get alone in the least..." he half hissed out his words, sure these areas got snow but it wasn't year around.

Dalea blinked when he never looked at her when he spoke. She took that as an insult, but then understood why. She nodded slightly and looked ahead. "No worries. I think I'll need your help at least once on our little journey." She knew that there were things out there that were more fearsome than fairies at their worst. She also knew that some of them were right in their path. They tended to be in areas where it was near impossible for life to thrive.

"Thats not encouraging you know.." He laughed weakly, maybe now was a bad time to tell her his powers weakened the further they traveled. Though maybe he could pull something off f it was needed. He'd have to save any energy until then to ensure he could if such a situation occurred.
He seemed to pause a moment before gesturing his hand towards the road ahead. "welcome to the lovely town of Alentery.. where it's occupied by humans and nothing but. Aside from a handful of slaves hat were unlucky enough to be captured and planed in bonds." |
Dalea blinked and slowly went to her feet. She had her wings slowly disappear. She then looked at Var and smiled. To anyone, she would look like a woman in her 30's with long blond hair to her waist and braided. She wore a blue sundress, sun hat and sandals. It looked as though she had just gone out for a walk. She could touch the clothes and they were real until she decided to change them back. "Alright, you now. What would you like to look like? Human only, please."

"aw but i detest that form... " he grinned a little before answering her question on his looks. He had half human after all so it was natural he had a human form, it favored his dryad features a little keeping the deep green eyes, though the hair was a rather dull dark brown. He could pass off as being at least 35, maybe a few years older then that even. This form included a minor bit of facial hair and his dress seemed to change as well. Just common clothes of these areas, nothing over the top or that would draw attention.
He looked at her with a bit of a tired look in his eyes knowing all too well he hated this form but i had been useful a few times in the past."Does his suite you or should i go disguised as a potted plant?" He smirked a bit knowing he were merely joking, but she wasn't the only one with the ability to change formed, just he couldn't provide assistance to others forms like a fairy could. |
Dalea smiled, waiting for him to decide. She was going to help him keep his appearence up. "Now. There is no need for you to use up any energy. If you just hold my hand once we are inside the city, I can take the load." She knew the colder it got the less energy he would have. She liked the looked he chose. He was quite...handsome. For human standards anyway. She smiled and slowly reached out and touched his facial hair. "Nice touch."

"Not by choice trust me... also one of the reasons id rather not lose being a dryad.. I tried being a human for a while. It's hardly as fun as it sounds." He gave her a bit of a look like he was annoyed at the fact, in truth he didn't have complete control over this forms looks, the most he could change was the clothing style or eye and hair color, everything else seemed to always be set in place when he switched to this form.
Though he wasn't going to turn down her assistance for keeping the form, it took little to no energy but it could add up in the long run."well... shall we go then?" |
Dalea wayched and listened to him. She knew it was hard for him to accept her assistance, but if she had to she would make him if it was for his own good. She could rest for a short time and be completely refreshed, he couldn't as they went further. She started walking along side him, then sneakily slipped her hand over and gripped his gently. "Don't freak out. Rela so it doesn't look suspicious." Since he still looked younger than her, she changed her appearence slightly so she looked young enough to be dating him.

He had to give her a odd look when she said relax. "You act like I've never been around a female before" He chuckled slightly at the thought of it. "I'm not going to blow our cover trust me, I've been around humans long enough i know how they act.. though some more questionable then others." He shook his head slightly. "Though we might still have troubles.. " He was more or less speaking of the guards or knights in the town.

Dalea giggled softly. "Oh, I'dm sorry for assuming. But, last time you were all rigid when I touched you." She let the hint of a dirty thought linger, then she shrugged. "The police won't be too much trouble. I'll just give my friend's address if they ask where we live." Her eyes widened slightly as she realized she'd revealed that she knew more than she should.

"eh... it caught me off guard last time... " Ok sure he didn't have common interactions with females but he wasn't to the point he was scared or wanting to avoid them. Though with her next words he looked at her before speaking. "friend huh?"

Dalea tried to ignore his look, looking straight ahead. "Yes, a friend of mine lives here." She left it at that, knowing her 'friend' wouldn't appreciate a visit from the police, but they'd be out of the city and in the mountains before they new.

"I'm not going to ask what type of friend you have to be living in such a place.. not my business" Though he could take a guess at her friends type, either being human or a half breed. "either way we should be in and out before anyone notices... unless you were planning on seeing this 'friend'."

Dalea looked like she would break out in hives. "No no no. We will not go see this friend. I made him mad last time I was here. That man instills in me the very essence of fear." She shivered. "I'll give him a couple decades to calm down first." Just from this reference referred to how old she really was.

"Wouldn't call that a friendship if your scared to go near the person." He shrugged a little, not that it was his business anyway. Really he didn't care one way or another, he needed to hurry up and get this journey over with. Plus pray to the goddess that this was even the right direction to be headed in. Though he fell silent as they entered the town, not that he was worried but the less attention they drew the better. Even fairy magic was only so powerful.. there were ways to see through it.

Dalea shrugged. She was his friend, but she wasn't stupid. When you piss off a creature natorious for having a bad temper, steer clear. When they entered the town, she went to idle chit chat. She couldn't have people staring at them because they were too quiet. She'd just have it look like the typical one sided conversation, where the guy is usually ignoring the girl.

Sure he heard whatever she was rambling about but most of it didn't need a comment and he knew it. Really he was too busy keeping a watch out on the humans around them. He knew there was wizards in this area though he wasn't sure if there were ones here powerful enough to see through the appearances they had. "We'll have to see if the gates are still open on the far side of town, if not we're stuck here for a night."

Dalea paused in her rambling to comment on his statement. "Well, unless you've got any human money....pray that the gates are open. If they're not, I've no choice but to make amends to my old friend." She grimaced when she said that too.

"off hand no i don't carry any around.. but if you and your friend are on such bad terms there are ways of getting some without seeking him out." Ok sure the methods he had in mind we're completely honest, but they would work if it were needed. "Your choice because I don't think we have that good of luck and most towns have a hour when they dislike folks walking about so we'd have to find some form of shelter.." Though he was against the idea of staying in a human town over night but they might have little to no choice.

Dalea gave him a sideways look. "I will not steal or do anything immoral to get it." Then she looked to be in thought. "I will just make amends with him. It will make things alot easier." She knew it would hurt both her pride and body to make such amends, but she would do it.

"Never said I was stealing it now did I? Gambling is perfectly legal, we'll just say i have a talent for it I'm not proud of." He shrugged a little. "but have it your way, I care less what means we get the funds by as long as we're not drawing attention to ourselves." It wasn't like he was planning to go clear out a tavern or anything, more like one or two games then leaving. Though she seemed displeased with the idea of making amends with this so called friend of hers, he was a bit curious on that. What the hell could make someone want to avoid someone else for a few decades..

Dalea looked at him sidelong. "That is something that I consider immoral. playful bets are fine, but going in and knowing you're going to win is cheating in my book and I won't use that money." She'd rather sleep in a gutter. She nodded then. "We'll have to go down this street to find him." She nodded down the street to their left. He lived in a condo in the not so nice part of town. It was very appropriate for his...kind.

"I said its a talent, not that i'd win for sure.. tsk not my fault human card games are far too easy to call bluffs on." He'd leave it at that, he was starting to go back to his thoughts that faeries really were blind to how the world worked outside of the groves. He kept any further thoughts to himself seeing as she'd probably disagree with him anyway. Really he had half a thought to leave her in her friend's care and go about finding his own way for tonight. He had been more or less forced to travel with this fairy for the past few days, a break from her sounded nice.

As they headed down the street as he spoke, she got visibly nervous. She tried controlling as much as she could. Police might think she was here to pick up some drugs or something. She glanced at Var when they neared her friend's place. She turned to him and rubbed her arm a little, letting go of his hand. "Um...you can do whatever you like...if you don't wish to go in with me. I don't think he'd take kindly to me bringing a male here that he doesn't trust." She looked at him, then held out a stone attached to a string, making a odd looking necklace. "If you wear this, I can sense if you get in to trouble and I can help."
