I used to fancy that I was a decent writer. And I suppose I was, but only in putting words together to make them sound nice; better suited to poetry, and short poetry at that, but never prose, certainly never prose that required any kind of arc. I mostly wrote in emotions.
|
Ahh... But I do love that sort of writing. I'm a sucker for that perfect feeling in a piece, no matter how short it may be.
|
Yeah. I don't know. I've been thinking of maybe picking back up a little bit of writing, but ... oddly enough I feel embarrassed. Even if I'm the only one to ever read it I get extremely self-conscious. Anyway, I've taken up more tactile pastimes, like knitting and crochet. I realized when I was in high school that I never actually wrote much. And I really sucked at essays. I mean , if I finished them they generally turned out OK, sometimes even quite well, but I rarely could get myself to finish one...
|
Oh boy. Essays are an entirely different monster, and they suck like no one's business.
I had to do one for one of my classes once, where we did an oral presentation before turning it in? I read maybe half of one book on the person mine was about. Didn't write anything. Aced the oral part, had no essay to turn in. The look on my teacher's face after how well I did was spectacular. ... School writing. It kills your soul. |
What house are you in Femme? I'll add you to the list.
I adore Pottermore and can't wait for the other books to be updated! |
Yeah, they really suck but somehow, people who never had any interest in poetry or anything of the like (or at least, writing it) seem not to understand how writing them is different from writing something else. First of all, an essay requires an organization of thought. Yeah... that's the exclusion of me.
@Kali I am a Ravenclaw :) |
Completely different kinds of thinking, that's for sure.
I'm super excited for what the next book has for us, no doubt. |
Yah! Definitely... hmm, what is introduced in the book that would carry throughout the series?
|
Besides what's introduced, what's generally available in the second year that hasn't been in this one?
Probably because first years still need flying lessons. You see where my hopes are. |
Yes that is what I mean also. Hrm... I don't know how flying would work. Then again I suppose it could be something creative in its execution the way that spell-casting is.
|
The casting really surprised me. It's absolutely brilliant.
|
Alrighty. I shall add you to the house list, I think that brings us up to 5 Ravenclaws.
Also, I'm thinking of adding Pottermore screen names in parenthesis next to everyone's names on the house list. |
That sounds good to me :3.
I found this funny... a couple of weeks ago I went with my family to Biggby (it's a coffee place like Starbucks) and I had on a Hogwarts hoodie, and the barista says "so what house are you?" and I answer "Ravenclaw" and he says, "So you're a nerd, eh?". In my head I thought... you kind of have to be a bit of a nerd to know that. I don't know. I just found that amusing. |
Aha, that made me giggle.
By the way, don't think I've said it yet today... Puff is the best house! I like the idea of adding screen names. |
Aww, I love Harry Potter. :3 I was a slytherin school girl for halloween last year.
|
I have three sisters... two of them have read and like Harry Potter. I'm a Ravenclaw; my twin sister is a Slytherin; my second eldest sister a Gryffindor... and so we assigned by default my eldest sister to Hufflepuff, in conversation. And she was like, but no one important was from that house (she guessed by the way we were talking I think). And the three of us, in unison, reply "Cedric was a Hufflepuff!".
|
But was Cedric really important? I mean, sure, he died for the cause and all that...
But I think people really over exaggerate him. >>; |
Tonks was a Puff, too.
|
He was important in that he was named and developed as a character... In the same way that, say, Seamus was important.
|
Alright, I could get behind Tonks. C:
|
Yay! Tonks wins everyone over!
And so I say again: Puff is the best house. |
I think the funny part about the thing with my sisters is we all just said it at the same time o_o.
Tonks is great, though. And I definitely think that Hufflepuff could get a little more love. |
Tonks is a badass. But Slytherin is still the best House.
|
The best part about Slytherin, for me, are its colors.
|
I would have more love for Slyth if they weren't so damn conservative in nature. Honestly, they're the exact opposite of the Puffs.
The common room for Slyth sounds gorgeous though. |
Slyths are the best kind of conservative, though. It's almost ridiculous. It's probably why I like them so much.
Crazy, elitist bastards. <3 |
You like abbreviating the house names, don't you?
The thing that Hufflepuff is missing is a metallic color. Gryffindor has gold; Slytherin silver; Ravenclaw bronze. Haha, best kind of conservative... I think the only Slytherins I can appreciate are Narcissa and maybe Slughorn. And Regulus but we don't really get to "meet" him. |
I never noticed that about Hufflepuff.. good eye! xD
|
Yes. Yes, I do.
Well, it might not be one of their main colors, but Puff is associated with copper. I will admit, I would like to see more Slyths that aren't on the dark side, because they do exist, just don't get nearly enough love. |
What are the Puffs colors? >>;
|
Puff is black and yellow, and their common room is decorated with a copper touch.
|
Yellow and black.
Copper? Where is that? EDIT: You answered my question before I posted it. Haha. But I don't remember that. |
Ah, I see.
I think, deep down, Malfoy was actually once good of heart, but we all know what peer pressure can do to a teen. Especially if their parents jump on the bandwagon. D: |
Not much was said in series about Puff rooms because they're the only place Harry didn't get to. But, it was elaborated on in Pottermore, something which us lovely Puffs got to see~
And about Malfoy, it's so true... Poor boy. |
Malfoy was one of my favorite characters, because I hated him with every fiber of my being. It takes a lot for me to be on a hate train about someone. Him and Snape. I think he was good of heart all the time, he was just jaded and went about the execution the wrong way. Tough love, as they say.
|
Yes, fortunately he had his mother to look out for him in the end and so did not fall prey to Voldemort's vengeance. Lucius... well, he is just too cocky and superior to really earn much pity, even though in Voldemort's final years he made Lucius's life... well, rather difficult by his own standards.
EDIT: D'oh! Snape! How could I forget him >_>. I think it was insecurity which brought out the monster in him in his younger years, a monster which was ultimately beaten by love... |
I feel very alone in the gryffindor common room...
|
Lucius could die in a fiery pit of suck for all I cared. There was no love in my heart for him, even through my hatred.
And I loved the guy who played him in the movies. PERFECT. |
Jason Isaacs does play that role beautifully well. He has a similar role in Captain Hook in the 200...3? Peter Pan. But now... he's on t.v.
|
Ah hahah. He is Hook? Nice~
I also thought Tom Felton did wonderfully. But Alan Rickman, by far... the best. |
