Those are both great!
*pets the pretty arts*

ZenKitty 12-29-2017 10:05 PM

Very nice art.

And wow. Mekatra - you've become a psychedelic fox dog.

Mekatra 12-29-2017 10:07 PM

I'm a hot dogdog.

To be fair HiveSwap just dropped first episode not too long ago, Sephy. Homestuck got even more popular.

-Sephiroth- 12-29-2017 10:07 PM

Thank you both!

edit: i'm glad it did ngl i missed talking to people about it and I have not left the fandom at all!

Mekatra 12-29-2017 10:10 PM

My husband got me into HomeStuck (and forced me to read until the Trolls showed up cuz I was gonna quit...) and I am not full of regret.

-Sephiroth- 12-29-2017 10:12 PM

I somehow found and read it on my own, around late 2011-early to mid 2012ish (to give a rough time frame) and It's one of those things that stuck with me?

Mekatra 12-29-2017 10:22 PM

It was June 2013 for me, and I only remember that because I was doing bead embroidery on a wedding dress.

-Sephiroth- 12-29-2017 10:24 PM

NICE!

Do you have pics of the dress still?

Mekatra 12-29-2017 10:29 PM

Not my best work, but the dress itself cost less than 20 bucks in materials.

I feel that I should state that I DID NOT make the wings

-Sephiroth- 12-29-2017 10:31 PM

I think it looks lovely! Are those wings on the back?

Kaderin Triste 12-29-2017 10:32 PM

That is some really pretty work on the dress! I don't think I'd have the patience to do it...

trystan830 12-29-2017 10:34 PM

oh that's awesome, Mekatra!!

Mekatra 12-29-2017 10:39 PM

Yeah, hang on I probably have a better pic of the wings.

-Sephiroth- 12-29-2017 10:40 PM

Those wings look amazing!

This guy's a wang tho lm ao

Mekatra 12-29-2017 10:46 PM

Wish I could say I made the wings lol. They were commissioned Here The people were amazingly professional and they got them to me so quickly. They're still in great shape five years later and I've worn them to a couple conventions and once on halloween.

They were pricey though. One of the most expensive single items I own.

That wang is my ex-husband lol

-Sephiroth- 12-29-2017 10:50 PM

I mean he's an ex for a reason.

Also good quality and expensive go hand in hand but hey paying for quality's not a bad thing.

Mekatra 12-29-2017 10:52 PM

So they say that the large wings are very comfortable to wear, which is totally true... unless you're wearing them for 3+ hours. Then you start feeling those buggers.

Kaderin Triste 12-29-2017 11:57 PM

It looks like the wings attached with elastic straps over the arms, yes?
I can see how that would hurt after a while.

Mekatra 12-29-2017 11:59 PM

They're plastic straps that buckle, they're not stretchy. XD

Kaderin Triste 12-30-2017 12:01 AM

Oh jeeze that's even worse!
XD
I know there's a corset + sturdy wire/brace setup one can do with wings, but haven't tried it myself since I generally don't wear items with a low enough neck/back to do it.

Mekatra 12-30-2017 12:25 AM

Yeah they do a strapless version that tucks down into a corset type thing... but uhh... oww after a while. There are few ways that you could wear larger heavier wings that would be comfortable for extended periofs of time

-Sephiroth- 12-30-2017 12:57 AM

I don't think I ever had to wear cosplay wings. I always felt like i'd annoy people at cons because sometimes people e walk into them.

Mekatra 12-30-2017 01:36 AM

If you cosplayed Sephy you'd just need one anyway lol

When I was wearing my wings I had to be VERY aware of where I was and who was around me. I spent a lot of time leaning against walls when I wasn't walking around.

and I took them off in panels or stood at the back.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

I wish I could cosplay Sephy, but a mix off being a bit self conscious about my body and not wanting to put effort into hiding boob makes me shy away.

Mekatra 12-30-2017 01:47 AM

Bruh, just get a binder. It's so much easier than wrapping. Hubs could probably give some decent suggestions if you ever decide to give it a go.

As for body conscious, just be you, sugar.

My last cosplay was an item from FF...because I wanted to wear my wings again lol

I had a binder but these puppies are REALLY hard to hide even with one

Mekatra 12-30-2017 01:55 AM

I know that feeling... but seriously like, crossplay is becoming a bigger thing. Be lady Seph.

I could! Maybe

I'd probably 86 the wing at least until I make/purchase a cosplay i'm fine with!

Gotobed

Mekatra 12-30-2017 02:03 AM

Okay but like These are cool and light

-Sephiroth- 12-30-2017 02:04 AM

Ooh I might bookmark that!

Mekatra 12-30-2017 02:07 AM

For a single wing you're probably gonna want to secure that to your actual jacket or something though, cuz those are hard to balance.

-Sephiroth- 12-30-2017 02:08 AM

Probably, someone's probably done it and made tutorials though! Maybe I should try to make my own Sephiroth cosplay, I have an old sewing machine I haven't used...

ZenKitty 12-30-2017 10:23 AM

That's really lovely bead work Mekatra.

Mekatra 12-30-2017 10:25 AM

Thanks <3 I should do more bead embroidery, I'm just lazy lol. Also I tend to stick to more "period appropriate" crafts these days

ZenKitty 12-30-2017 10:39 AM

I can't even begin to imagine how long that must have taken you to do. Regular embroidery is a slow process but then putting those beads through the thread on top of that - whew!

-Sephiroth- 12-30-2017 10:46 AM

Good morning! How is everyone?

Den 12-31-2017 11:31 PM

So what's the theme for January? lol

Kaderin Triste 12-31-2017 11:33 PM

I don't think we have one yet...
I have been so busy that I almost forgot we'll need one and I don't recall any actual suggestions...

XoGizmooX 12-31-2017 11:34 PM

Something new - a craft type you have never tried before

Den 12-31-2017 11:34 PM

.... I got nothing. I'm jet-lagged and cold-lagged. I'm staying in and chilling.
