Well, I'm back from the pub, so here comes my reply...
If you take it to such lengths, does that not mean that friends you make online are not exactly your friends. They're more friends of the character you are at the time you talk to them? To some degree they don't know you as you, they know you for the way you are and act as a character? I assume your character still maintains your interests, likes and dislikes etc, but just the overall feel of you as a person is not really you. Correct me if I'm wrong, I literally know nothing about how this sort of thing works, especially at the level you say you do it.. I can relate to you on the whole language thing, if only to a small degree. I suffer from Disphraxia, or I think I do at least. My parents never believed me and claimed I was simply making excuses for not doing as well in school as they wished (compared to older siblings etc etc), and it never proved to be a big enough life issue for me to go to a docotor myself and have it confirmed/dis-proven. The reasons i believe i have it is due to living for 8 weeks with someone who works with 'special'(or what ever political correct term you find appropriate)children at a school. According to her, through my explanations of issues, and observing me for the 8 weeks i lived there, i have all the major traits for it. While it's more of a memory issue for me, that does effect my use of language. I have trouble distinguishing words that are similar (their, they're, there and all those types) as well as an awful memory as far as spelling goes (only really evident when i don't have a spell checker available). Then there's my inability to remember/comprehend punctuation.. and so many other things. I have two of the puppet master items, if that's the name of the new DI, if you want one. Or i can buy you one with the remaining Runes I have lying around? both those options are open to you if you wish to take me up on them. While I don't have many scars, due to healing without them most of the time, I sometimes wish i did. They're cool in appearance, they prove as a reminder to hardships you've been through (which may not be seen as a plus for some..) and they're character defining, not to mention a conversation starter :P If you don't have the scars, you may forget what you've been through, what you have survived and just how strong you can be. I live in the capital city of Scotland, so I have all the clubs and bars I could ever dream of. Which sucks really, since i don't drink and dislike drunks. the only reason I go so far to this pub is because most of the people who go with us live or work near it. I don't rally know anyone who lives near me. All i know is i live in a not to great area and it's known as weed central.. So all in all i think i can say i have roughly the same kind of people around me, if not worse. In regards to that you can say it wasn't even the car accident that killed the person, but the little shard of glass that popped their heart, or what ever the final fatal injury was.. if the tyre is not at fault, neither is almost all of the car and what ever was crashed into. Only the exat thing that proved to be the killing injury.. (I'm thinking on this a little to much..) Aaand... this is damn long. Sorry. |

The line between the character and myself is a fine one indeed. I have asked myself that very question, and I believe that the balance I've found is a good one. As far as this account goes, I think that the purely in character moments are blatant enough to be obvious, and the out of character ones, like this, are all of my own emotions and opinions, just lacking a few of the 'lols' and emotes to go alongside it. That, and I'm a touch more vulgar outside of the forums. If we're getting into the fine details of it all, there are some differences in the likes and dislikes, and in those cases, I follow my own, even when they go against the character's, because this is my main, and it's how I choose to present myself. I think, if I were to play with her a little more, you would see that there's a drastic difference between the balance I maintain here, and how things are when I'm fully in character only on my mule. Ahh, I see... The usage and punctuation doesn't escape me as much as the words themselves. I can stumble over trying to remember a simple word that I've used thousands of times before and had no trouble with. Like, I can feel it's there in my head, I just can't grab it. It gets... irritating, to say the least. And gets worse when I'm more stressed, and being unable to express myself properly to relieve it starts a rather vicious cycle. I'd be happy to buy from you. I'm not sure about price though... I suppose they would be around 5k or so? It's really not anything I'm worried about, though, so if you'd rather save them for yourself or someone else, it's quite alright. I fully agree with the scar thing. Even some that are very, very hard to bear... They may always be painful, but with enough time, they're a beautiful reminder of the strength you possess. And, whether that strength was wanted in the first place or not, it's truly a remarkable thing to have. Most of my drinking is done at home... Honestly, I rarely do it with others around, and almost never when I'm, well, not in a bad place at the time. It's a weakness that I'm keeping a careful eye on, lest it become a real issue. Aha. Causes of death are an interesting thing to think on, when related to an entire chain of events. It's... sad, perhaps, but I stand by the belief that as far as sleep goes, the lack of it will never kill a person. Speaking of achievements, I already got that one when setting up a certain thread... -grins- |
