I had actually never heard of this until now. ... I think seldom getting out of the house has something to do with it ^^; |
Lies~! I hate that I am an Aqurious always will be this thing can go blow it self
Haha. Nikko. You're funny. XD |
Yay 86 baby~!
I don't hear about it much on campus because most mormons (including myself) don't believe in astrology - but I watched the whole thing go down on twitter and facebook. mostly twitter, since I don't use facebook much. I haven't even bothered to look up if I might have moved or not, because it doesn't matter. the new constellation hadn't appeared when I was born, so I was born with the sun in Libra no matter where it might be now.
So all of us are still same as we where as children right Lucid?
@ Nikko ;; Yes, we are. But, I still don't like the idea of my cancer being a gemini now... xD |
Thanks, Lucid. Because, I know, I'm a Cancer and my boyfriend is a Leo and I born on June 30th and no way that my mother is a Cancer but a Leo. xD
Yeah I know.
yes. from a purely scientific standpoint, your sign hasn't changed. since signs are based on the positions of the sun and stars, nothing has changed at all. a new constellation is visible, and the earth's rotation may have changed slightly over the years, so the sun may be in a different constellation on a particular day than it used to. but there has been no magical time-traveling, the sun was positioned in a certain spot in the sky in the past and that past cannot be changed now or ever.
I know, and people just thinking, "OMG! IT'S CHANGED and " blah blah. Therefore, we can't change the past for the future and whatever you are born stayed the same.
*raises hand* Despite the fact that the 13th constellation was discovered quite some time ago suggesting it was already in place at our birth. To avoid complications the official addition was simply said, just 2009 and on
Ophiuchus has always barely been in the astrological circle, so I don't know why we've just now decided to rearrange the zodiacs. Not that it matters because the zodiacs were off to begin with
Thank you Let, that sounds so much better to me.
I'm not big with Astrology but I love Astronomy. I keep up with the news when I can so I knew about 13 several years ago.
I like it also but still I don't like the sudden change.
oooh, okay. I don't keep up with it, so I was under the impression that they were "newly formed" (and by that I mean probably zillions of years old, but the light just recently reaching us).
so if it's been there for ages, why the sudden change? |
Good heavens no. Granted the sky IS changing. There's a black hole in Cygnus eating the center star and everything but this "new" constellation has been around awhile.
People were just so content with the evenness of 12 to 12 months. This system set up for thousands of years didn't need to change. In truth the sun's path along the ecliptic isn't in each constellation equally so following a schedule is stupid. To know your exact sign you would have to consult star charts of the date. |

I still don't know why we've suddenly decided to include Ophiuchus in the zodiac when it's been there all along...
A system used for nearly 3000 years isn't about to be undone or altered just cause some astronomer says, "Um, look at this."
It's being changed now because the evidence is too hard to ignore. As for the sudden change, how do you slowly work a new constellation into a zodiac? You really don't. |
We could always just ignore the Zodiac and use the same science that's changing it to prove its superstitious pointless mumbo-jumbo. Throw that to the curb like the idea that the earth is flat...
You know there's a society in California that still believes that right?
Back gais! I poofed. Made me a shoppe. <33 |
