Part of me wants to say yes to this, but I know that a lot of people maybe can't afford supplies for a new hobby/craft.

But I'll let others maybe vote yes or no before I nix the idea (for now).

...maybe our theme could be turtles? ;D

XoGizmooX 12-31-2017 11:38 PM

TURTLES TURTLES TURTLES

XoGizmooX 12-31-2017 11:39 PM

Or Trisphee related theme

Kaderin Triste 12-31-2017 11:43 PM

Theme suggestions:

Turtles
Trisphee related item(s), ex: a scarf to mimic the Looney scarves, a stuffed animal similar to one of the many animal items we have, etc. I guess?
New Craft: Try a new craft or hobby that you have not previously tried!

Vote now!
XD
(Voting to close....before I go to work tomorrow...)

Trisphee related items.

Kaderin Triste 01-01-2018 12:22 AM

Just for the record, I'm using the Trisphee theme suggestion as an excuse to buy a pattern I've been dying to get for about a year...
XD

Even if it doesn't win as a theme, I want to make it.

Mekatra 01-01-2018 12:33 AM

I'm alright with doing a Trisphee related item <3

Kaderin Triste 01-01-2018 01:56 AM

I like that there's so many options with the Trisphee theme. From complex DI items to simple commons and accessories, there is something there that pretty much every crafter could do something.

I will still give others a chance to vote, but will definitely keep the Trisphee items theme available if we don't end up doing it this month.

XoGizmooX 01-01-2018 02:01 AM

I could even see Au-runes shaped soap for the one who makes soaps

And I could finish up my stickers that I never completed

Kaderin Triste 01-01-2018 02:12 PM

Looks like we have a new theme!

**ANNOUNCEMENT**

I hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing winter break, but with the new year, comes a new theme!

Mekatra 01-01-2018 02:14 PM

If I were better at sewing I would make Staff themed plushies..

Kaderin Triste 01-01-2018 02:18 PM

That qoulb be adorable!
I ber Trystan could make those. She's amazing with custom amigurimi dolls!

I'm kind of being boring and making a skirt like the knee skirt item we have. Only I'm loom knitting it.

Mekatra 01-01-2018 03:27 PM

Hmm, I dunno what I'll make yet. We'll see.

Den 01-01-2018 09:36 PM

... Staff plushies would be cute...

Kaderin Triste 01-01-2018 09:44 PM

*adds staff plushies to my list if I have time*

Mekatra 01-01-2018 09:51 PM

I'll really have to think hard about what I wanna do

XoGizmooX 01-01-2018 09:55 PM

Maybe I can make a Phoenix ^…^

Mekatra 01-01-2018 10:06 PM

XoGizmooX 01-01-2018 10:14 PM

Yeah I'm not sure if it's supposed to be -dirty- like a man part lol or if one of the hand mods match up to hold it but lmao I love it like this

Mekatra 01-01-2018 10:16 PM

^right there

SparX 01-02-2018 01:48 AM

Awesome. I am much to exhausted to read back atm and didn't see the title changed yet.
thanks.

Kaderin Triste 01-02-2018 02:28 AM

That's because I don't have control of title changes.
XD

Damies 01-02-2018 03:06 AM

Bleah. I have been so un-crafty this last month. x nx

Then today I go and do four paintings....

Kaderin Triste 01-02-2018 03:40 AM

Well, I mean this last month WAS kind of taking a break from crafts (or rushing to finish presents) so it's fine that you were uncrafty...

Damies 01-02-2018 04:02 AM

I've been really listless and unmotivated to do anything really. I think my seasonal depression is rearing it's ugly head. But I am optimistic about the new painting hobby I am taking up. xP

Kaderin Triste 01-02-2018 04:06 AM

Yay! New hobby sparking interest and fighting the winter blues!
I've kind of been the same (which is why I STILL haven't finished a couple Christmas presents and why it took me until the last possible week to finish a fox that should have done by thanksgiving...) but have some new projects I want to make if I can get my current orders done quickly...
XP
Might have to turn down orders for a while until I am better prepared...

Damies 01-02-2018 04:48 AM

GET YER STUFF DONE! DO THE THINGS! Magical Motivation GOOOOOO!

Kaderin Triste 01-02-2018 05:07 AM

Lol. I wish that actually worked.
I will be freeing up my loom that I need tomorrow (just have one leg and 4 or 5 rows on the elephant body I'm working on), then I can start on a fox.

My main items on my craft list for Tuesday are: Finish elephant body, get fox colors out and ready, place stitch markers on pegs for skirt.
And possibly start work on the fox, but only if it's not too late since I have a (super) early shift Wednesday. Seriously, I have to be up no later than 5:30am so I can get there on time.

trystan830 01-02-2018 10:59 AM

hmm... i have no idea what i might do to fit into this theme.... i have a blanket i've been working on, and i have a pair of socks i want to make with some cotton yarn... so, yeah. still sorting myself out this time.

Happy late new years! Does anyone have advice for someone who might want to start quilting this year?

Mekatra 01-02-2018 03:54 PM

What kind of quilting are you thinking about doing? I've made a couple (they were terrible according to my grandmother lol) My aunt also runs a quilt shop so I can ask her for advice if you have any specific questions.

I want to make a nice warm blanket for myself and my GF, and we have some old spare clothes and other things we don't need. So i guess patch quilt/

Mekatra 01-02-2018 07:53 PM

Are you planning on tying it or do you have access to someone that can quilt it for you?

So something like a 9 patch would be fairly easy. Do you have a sewing machine available?

-Sephiroth- 01-02-2018 08:07 PM

I have a sewing machine, and I have yarm that I can use to tie.

Mekatra 01-02-2018 08:43 PM

I would probably suggest a simple 9 patch to start with.

-Sephiroth- 01-02-2018 08:55 PM

Thank you!!

Mekatra 01-02-2018 09:20 PM

Just gonna throw out there if you plan on working with any stretchy materials like t-shirts you're going to want to invest in some decent interfacing.

Den 01-02-2018 09:48 PM

Interfacing is going to be your friend.
