That was me also for a while except instead of school I had taken time off to get mentally well and my dad always made mention on how I never did anything and my brother got on me for even being on foodstamps and it was like wtf.
at one point my brother made a statement on my 21st birthday about how can I afford dogs if I have ebt what do I feed them steaks and laughed at me (At the time I was doing temp labor to pay for everything and wasn't making alot but enough to get by) and it pissed me off so bad that week my dogs starting eating better then me, I put them on a healthier diet where I would buy chicken and pork and beef in bulk and chop it up and mix with rice and and a ladle of their food, because he can suck his own phallic endorsement.
We ended up eating the other half of the meat I chopped up for them for our dinners and just had casseroles XD

That makes me think of the lady I bought Digit from. She hadn't vaccinated him or de-wormed him or anything at all because she believed that cats don't need any of that stuff. She had been feeding his momma pumpkin for the worms she said. I had made a comment about her asking price being pretty high for a cat that she hadn't even had looked at by a vet. She fired back with "if you can't afford my price, maybe you shouldn't have a pet!" What if he had a heart defect or something, and she never took him to get looked at? Then she wanted $80 for him. I mean, I paid it because I wanted him, but really. . .

That's my snobbish animal breeder coming out. XD I had to take so many puppies to the vet for my mom to get checked out before she sold them. I don't know if you know this, but taking 3 puppies by yourself to the vet is very hard! They all want to be in your lap and cry like crazy xD

The only reason to charge money for an animal is to cover expenses of medical bills, personally. or a SMALL rehoming fee (10-25) so you know they are willing to pay for it and not get rid of it cuz it was free.
I've had to give a few of my cats their first shots myself, getting it from the local feed store with some needles and steeling my soul up and doing it....
god I hate giving my pets shots .-. and if you get the animal directly from a breeder, you have to look at the fact the spent how many months taking care of the mother with vet visits and all that? reputable breeders have a need to have a price on their animals because if not they can't offord to take care of the others, much less come back from the thousand some odd they just put into a litter of anywhere from 3-9 animals!

The most (I) have ever payed was $10 for Hax.
My parents however bought a purebred german boxhead when I was a baby, and studded him out and got a puppy instead of the studding fee, which was about appropriate? but Milo (millenium) was the last of Thorsons breeding and I haven't been able to find any of his sons in the area to get back onto the bloodline T.T I miss having Rotti's alot, their so cuddly and loving with those wonderful marking XD

I don't even get my started on purebred animals. That's what my mom breeds, purebred Bernese Mountain Dogs.

So anyway. Digit is not a purebred by any means, and he has all these extra toes (which is why I wanted him xD) But judging from the woman's home, she just had a few cats and they did all of the work. He just got his first vaccines and rabies shots and everything when I got him fixed.

unfortunately lucy and molly still have theirs because I couldn't afford to get it done at the same time as the fixing, but it doesn't snag on stuff soooo?

we just did the back legs, they use the front ones to grab stuff.

18 people in 6 hours comes out to 3 people an hour not counting the 4 people who came in that weren't patients and had questions about medical T.T
this wouldn't be so stressful If I wasn't the only person here and if we had a doorbell ringer so I knew when people were coming in T.T
and if each person used their 20 minutes for service fully that would put me at a full hour wasted on all 3 of them oh dear god

i just lost a potential customer. She wanted to know about hemp oil and I was like "I'm sorry we don't carry that, it is illegal in the state of oregon." so she says "well . . .do you have any information on it?" and so I said "again, no, unfortunately, since we aren't allowed to carry it." So she rolled her eyes at me and left.

Brady told me how I could have handled it better ._.

Ah see I wasn't sure about Washington! ya they wrote in newest law that the only hemp thing we can sell are "products such as t-shirts."

I'm not sure as a law to it but it doesn't make much sense to have it in our store if it's just hemp with no effect really.
Even liberty lotion is/was hemp oil AND cbd.

Also, mom worked in a shelter as a young adult. Bad stories... Current dog suffers from kennel and abandonment trauma. I think I scare him as I have difficulty functioning sometimes due to my own issues, and he doesn't understand.

Hemp and Mj are both from the Cannabis species, but are completely different plants if that makes sense.
Both contain cannibinoids, but thc is not found in hemp while it is found in Mj, but cbd can be found in both.
my big thing in 6th grade was wanting to be an herbalist and I had this great big book of herbs and what to do with them and spent weeks making dandelion tea and feverfew salves to name a few so I can completely understand where you come from there law XD

I just read a thing yesterday on "11 things we do that dogs hate."

I tested them all out on my dog and she had zero of the behaviors the list said they would have to show hate.

Like hugs --- it said dogs hate hugs because it is a dominance thing for them. It stated that they may tense up, pin their ears back, lick their lips nervously or look away from you. My dog licked my cheek a bunch and put her head on my chest XD it was pretty darn sweet. It also said they don't like having their head pet. Duchess just started furiously swiping her paw over her head when i patted her and then ramming her head into my hand when i stopped. Dogs are weird.

Maybe it's meant as big dogs? That hugging thing applies more to my mom's dog...though he does like to rub up on you like a cat.

And yeah...though my mom knows more, I like learning herbal and farming methods. (Actually like learning most things)

I had something to say about big dogs but I am not quite sure it counts since dogs treat children different than adults.
My dogs are about 60 lbs each though aren't that big XD

...over 100 lbs.
And many animals don't see children as a threat. (It may just be that he sees everything as a threat...and mom is just the one who saved him/disciplines him most)

maybe because my dog is only 13 pounds and she feels she must be touching me at all times.

I can't go anywhere without her sitting as close to me as possible. At night she clambers under the blankets and sleeps curled up against my belly or behind my knees

Spent this morning from 750 till 1120 with a friend while they put their dog down because some asshole hit him on the side of the road

The dog stayed with us for a month and has been playing with my dogs since they were puppies, it was pretty hard to see my friend the way he is right now.
It made me worry about my dogs even more T.T

My worst fear is duchess getting out and getting hurt. She just bolts for it whenever she gets out of the front door. I'll chase after her shouting her name and she'll stop and look at me then keep running. I've chased her in huge circles around houses before. Uggg
