Accel World is an actual anime? I suppose I shouldn't be surprised considering I'm playing a game based on it XD

Animes are made into games and vice versa pretty often so yep not really surprising but I know what oh-I-didn't-imagine-it-tho feeling ^^

With how established all the characters were I figured there had to be a backstory somewhere. Now I know XD

I thought SAO was an MMO in itself? How does this incorporate both?

It's a story that somehow has the two VR worlds connect to each other, hence both groups meeting each other. It's odd since apparently, their VR worlds would not be compatible normally, them being so different. But it works out. I really like SAO so it's been quite enjoyable to me at least.

.hack// Is my favorite far and between of VR world animes but you know. Overlord probably second . . . and then Log Horizon and thennn Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash then probably Season 1 of Sword Art and then Accel world XD

And as far as good? not a ton of option of CR or funi, The most recent one I watched I would suggest would be lovestage! purely for the fact its actually easily available. . . and maybe the fact main character is a hardcore Otaku and other main character is a total normie.
I haven't watched the entirety of worlds greatest romance, in fact its quite long so I kinda just stopped. . . watching. . . .because it was so long. . . and it jumps between different love stories.. . . bleh.
