I personally don't care if my OCs are out in the public... I usually put the line art of the art I do up for grabs.. I don't mind..

Also, haunty gave me an idea of actually putting my OCs entire name on the pic, and then "Character by: Takitae", so people are a lot less likely to be lazy and steal OCs.
