[HISSES AT YOUR TRAITOROUS IMITATION CRAB MEAT]
Speaking of seafood, I wish I could remember which thread it was where I said I'd into a shark. |
Godsdamn it now *I* want shrimp chips. And not the Calbee kind, either — I mean the ones you gotta fry yourself.
-pops a few tempura-battered shrimp skewers into an air fryer- <Give me a few minutes.> |
:D Shrimp chips. Shrimp chips! >:D Shrimp chips! *tries to start a chant again*
hmm I like tempura made with carrot leaves
carrot leaves are edible?
<.<; Shoot. Seaweed is edible.
ye, seaweed is p edible. needs spices, though.
plain salt works just fine
;U; If tears are salty, will that work as a substitute?
does vinegar go good on seaweed too
i have an idea. seaweed chips. |
^very common in Japan
also yes carrot leaves are edible at least deep fried xD not sure if they'd work in a salad, for example |
neat. did you know that flax seeds, although edible, contain cyanide?
I used to eat cereal with ground flax seed sprinkled on it. Got sick of the taste and texture. It was supposed to help with some my... female health problems.
How many til it's poisonous though? A pound?? Ten pounds??

Still, I didn't know they were like apple seeds, and contain cyanide. :] The more you know~+* |
Also, Halo (Ocean's Halo?) makes seaweed chips. I've been able to find them at Wal-Mart (US).
i vaguely want to try some. also, would seaweed be a decent filler option in a wrap or
*tosses shrimp tempura into a bowl* :]

huh, makes sense. i thought it'd make for a decent replacement option for lettuce, y'know?
not lettuce, people use it more like uh
as if one use dried kale flakes but tasting good |
Ohh, that reminds me. I used to make a salad I really liked that included pieces of dulse. But I can't remember what else it had.
what is dulse?
It's another type of sea vegetable. You can eat it dry, but it has more of a...meaty/chewy texture than nori? But can also be prepared different ways in cooking.
oh? worm. might have to bring this up to my dad. could put it in a wrap, i guess. :0c
You do have to be cautious about shells that might have become adhered to it.
admittedly, yeah. i'll look into it.
I’m a sucker for... uh... it’s, um, a type of sea snail? A lot smaller than your typical escargo. Common food item on the islands off the coast of Taiwan. Lots of work prepping them, though — they have a little end cap that you need to remove, and then getting them out of their shells requires a lot of practice (I don’t quite have the wrist motion down yet), or you’ll end up breaking off most of the sea snail in the shell, and then it’s nigh impossible to extract.
Hella tasty boiled and seasoned w a bit of soy sauce and garlic. |
I never tried sea snails!! I feel robbed of that experience
They’re good. I like the larger ones as well. French shit’s too expensive though.
i'm not too keen on escargot. my friend keeps snails -- she really enjoys looking up stuff abt them.
-u- I prefer gummy snails.
I need more cubes but I'm feeling too uninspired to make on topic comments

BEEN TOO LONG
o fudge, i haven't had snails in a long time. don't remember what species either lmfao, but they're small, black, and toothpicks were used to skewer the meat out. we used a wok to stir fry them.
We actually used needles for ours — both to remove the cap, and to twist out the meat.
sewing needles or actual specialized needles? :0
