The light from earlier sparked in Joey's eyes and he released Olivia in order to use his hands as he spoke. "Oh it's brilliant! You see, it starts out with this noble girl. Her parents are the duke and duchess of somewhere," He waved away the last part as if it were and unimportant detail, "Her parents are trying to marry her off to Prince, whose a really... unpleasant fellow. So she's sent to live in the castle with a few other girls buying for the chance. She tries to make a break for it but is caught by the Prince's bodyguard. Throughout her stay they begin to fall in love, but the Prince has taken a fancy to her and realizes the two are getting... close. He tries to have the knight executed, but on the execution day the girl slips the knight a sleeping pill and disguises herself as him. It's customary for the faces to be covered when taken to execution so no one knows until it's to late. It's really very sad." Joey said seeming not to take a single breath. "You too are the servant that attend to the girl." He added as an after thought.
"That's... certainly gonna be a tear jerker." Olivia said when he had finished. |
"Sounds it to me too, but I definitely like the story. Has a lot of substance." Sayaku smiled, having enjoyed Joey's elaborate explanation of a unique and interesting story. "Did you write this one yourself, Joey? If so, you're quite the playwright. I'm impressed. By that and your energy this early in the morning."
"He's basically always energetic." "That's for sure. He's more energetic then a billy goat I think...And I thought billy goats were scarily energetic..." |
Joey's smile softened and he seemed really please. "It was a collaboration between me and Seric, a friend of mine. He'd be directing it too, but he really wanted to act in it so...." He trailed off with a good natured shrug. "Personally, I'd prefer to act too, but they needed someone who wrote it to direct, and also I'll really enjoy seeing it all come together."
"I think he must eat multiple packs of candy every morning to pull this off." Olivia noted, added to the discussion of Joey's hyperness. |
((I'm with Olive. THere's no way in hell I could ever be that hyper in the morning...Even with a number of packs of candy. I'd get a sugar crash actually...))
"Well you two did a good job. And you'll be a fine director, I'm sure." Sayaku smiled, patting his friend's back gingerly. "Who's ready for breakfast? I'm starving." ((Sorry this post sorta stinks >>)) |
Joey grinned. "Thank you Saya." He did a strange bow toward his friend as if he had just done a great performance. "Yes! To the sustenance!" He pointed ahead of them and began to walk jollily. When they reached the cafeteria her turned to Saya and Olivia. "Oh, after classes come by to get some costume measurements." Then his eyes singled in on Olivia. "And we'll practice your make-up. It has to be perfect and very convincing by the time opening night rolls around."
Olivia laughed. "How about you leave the make-up to me? I didn't grow up with all my sisters and never learn how to do make-up. I've even done their's for them before." She told him, and being the kind of person he was he found nothing strange with a guy knowing how to do make-up. "Do the basics then, but leave the rest to the make-up artists. They know how the lighting on stage will effect it." He said with a smile, then rushed off into line. ((Oh, it's fine hmmm, I'm considering having Joey realize he's attracted to Olive,(not start to like her or anything, sort of just wanting to be closer to her without understanding why) you know, considering the play might have them spending more time together. Perhaps Saya could get a little jealous?)) |
((That could work. And he'll start getting confused as to why he's feeling that way 8D Oh and I plan on Saya's little sister, when she visits, having an interest in Joey despite being slightly fearful of his natural energy level... xD))
"Measurements? What sort of measurements do you need?" Sayaku looked at his friend, slightly unsure as to what was meant. "Eh, guess I'm still far from modern with some things." Laughing a bit, he followed his friends gingerly, hands carefully placed behind his head. "I wonder what it'll feel like to play a servant boy... Maybe it'll make me feel like I'm back on the farm... Somehow that sounds about right." "You're a genuine farmboy alright," Peter noted in response. "Joey, maybe you should give him my spot as a farmer instead. He'd be more convincing since he already is one." "But then I wouldn't be 'acting' now would I? I wanna do something different. Isn't that the point of acting anyway?" Sayaku grinned before looking at Oliver, patting the boy's back. "Besides, it'll be easier to work with Olive and practice the little we have to do in our own room. Since we both play people working for the same person." |
Joey laughed, enjoying Saya's inexperience. "Clothing measurements. You know, for your costumes. And your exactly right! It's important to get out of ones comfort zone when acting." A sly grin came over his face and he glanced over at Saya and Olivia with raised eyebrows. "You want to practice in private eh? You boys not as straight as I think you are? Perhaps I should throw in a kiss scene for y-" He was cut off by Olivia giving a sharp, but playful jab to the stomach. She knew he was kidding, but if he kept talking like that she would start to blush, which would not be good.
"Joey, I assure you I'm perfectly straight." She said holding back a laugh. To him the statement would mean she did not like guys, but it actually meant the exact opposite. Joey grinned and said, "Uh-huh, sure." Olivia rolled her eyes. ((Oh that's a good idea! I was actually thinking that Joey might take a liking to her.)) |
((Yay! I sorta wanna make her come early. Mostly 'cause she can't read...So she'd seriously mess up the date >>))
"Just 'cause I'm afraid of girls doesn't mean I have absolutely no interest in them," Sayaku remarked swiftly. "Besides, my point was that I don't do well practicing in huge crowds most of the time. Since we're in similar roles, it'd make sense." "I must admit, Joey, you really shouldn't assume that trying to find convenience and simplicity means orientation..." Peter rolled his eyes. "Ah well. I suppose it did seem a little strange..." "You too, Pete?" Sayaku grumbled. Why did they make such strange assumptions? |
Joey laughed gleefully. "Of course, it was Saya's idea," He suddenly pulled Olivia to him as if protecting her,"You plan on corrupting our little Olly don't you? You poor, poor boy Oliver. Don't worry, Pete and I will protect you." Joey's arm were around Olivia now in a sort of awkward embrace, awkward because Olivia looked more like she was being suffocated than hugged.
"You know Joey, Saya's not the one hugging me right now. I'd say that's more incriminating evidence than wanting to practice in our room together." Olivia said laughing. She was imediantly released by Joey. "Oliver! You wound me. Friends may hug." He said placing a hand on his forehead dramatically. |
"I wouldn't call that a hug anyway. Looked like you couldn't breathe. A hug should still let you breathe, last I checked..." Sayaku laughed, patting both Oliver and Joey on the back with a simple pat, showing a playful understanding of the situation. "So, what do you think is for breakfast?"
"The cafeteria offers the same food each day for breakfast, meaning you can eat what you like, even if it's the same as yesterday." "Perfect. Morning salads always energize me." |
Joey through Saya a wicked grin. "No, really good hugs don't allow for breathing," He said matter-o-factly. Olivia's face lit up. "Waffles!" She said gleefully as they got in line. As they got their food Olivia went over their conversations in her head. She had made friends with crazy people, that was for sure. "Ah, sweet nourishment!" Joey said as they sat down and dug into his food.
|
((Is my idea for Flutter (the sister) okay? I want to know before I bring her in when a good time is xD))
Sayaku took a seat soon after the others, taking a bit of lettuce into his mouth. "Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so it's a good thing we made it in time to eat, isn't it?" He smiled simply. "It'd be bad if we missed out on eating first thing." |
((Oh yes, it's a great idea. Sorry, I answered you in my head and then didn't think to write it down... I do that a lot ^^; ))
"I agree." Olivia said and she shoveled down a waffle. She hadn't realized how hungry she had been. Joey chuckled. "We can tell. I don't think the food will run away from ya Olly." She said then stuffed more of his pancake into his mouth. Olivia shook her head with a smile. "You're right, I should eat more like you." She told. Joey grinned and said, "Exactly, I'm a model for perfect table manners." |
Sayaku laughed at the conversation, quietly taking another bite of food. "Hey, where's Peter?" He looked around, noticing the boy hadn't sat down at the same time as them. Seeing the boy returned, his eyes widened to see a blue-haired girl, eyes a pale green. There was no way Peter expected what came out of the girl's mouth when they walked to the table.
"Big brother? Where were you? Mom said she'd tell you to meet me at the front!" "...Who exactly read the pamphlet to you? There's at least a month until the performance, Flute..." Sayaku sighed. Of course, Peter found his sister. "So you're the brother she was crying about..." "I-I wasn't crying!" The girl retorted, looking away quietly. Sayaku laughed, patting a seat next to him. "Just sit down and eat, sis. Worrying at this point won't get you anywhere. I'll take you to the main office after breakfast." The girl nodded silently and sat down, stealing a tomato from her brother's plate. He scoffed at this, watching her put a sugar packet into her water and drink it before taking a bite. "Ahem... Guys, this is my sister, Flutter. Flute, these guys are my friends. Peter, Joey and Oliver. Olive's my roommate." |
Joey grinned a wide grin, "Hey there sweety. I'm Joey." His voice was very friendly, though Olivia noticed it was slightly toned down. She assumed Joey was trying not to scare her away. "Hi, I'm Oliver." She said with a gentle smile. The girl was adorable and Olivia wondered how she was taking being surrounded by guys. After all, she knew the feeling. She wanted to find a way to make her feel at ease so she said, "Hey, you know you brother is going to be in the play."
|
"Mom said it would make sense if he was. Big brother likes to help out with community things." Flutter nodded slightly, staring at the emptiness of the table in front of her. "M-my name is Flutter Catane. Nice to...meet you..."
"Sorry. She's easily intimidated by people. Don't take any offense." "I'm guessing her reasons are similar to yours." Peter laughed nervously and Sayaku scratched the back of his head. "Sis, what are we gonna do with you? What'll happen if you can't get a ride home?" "The doctors told me it was safe to stay in this area..." "You know you can't stay at the school, dummy. It's all guys? Remember?" "That's right..." Flutter frowned. She'd forgotten. |
"I could room with someone else for while and she could stay with you if you want." Olivia offered. In all honesty she didn't want to leave their room. She felt comfortable around Saya and the thought of having to room with a guy other than him was a bit scary, but she doubted Flutter would feel comfortable if she stayed in the same room with them. "You could stay with us, couldn't he Peter?" Joey said. "We can find an extra mattress to borrow till she can get a ride." Olivia felt her heart flip. She trusted Joey and Peter, she really did, she didn't want to stay in a room with them. Still, she smiled and said, "That'd be great."
|
"She'll never fall asleep either way. She'll feel bad taking Oliver's bed." Sayaku shook his head, sighing. "Is there a hotel nearby or something I can put her in for the time being? Joey, you seem to know the area better then I do...Do you know anywhere nearby she can stay?"
|
Joey nodded, "Yeah, there's one really close by. It's a really nice place too." He said with a smile. "They put chocolates on your pillow and everything." He looked over at Flutter and grinned. "Best chocolates around, I promise."
Olivia felt the tension leave her body. By no means did she want to cause Flutter any discomfort, but she was thankful not to have to room with someone else, even if it was only for a little while. |
"Do you like chocolate? You can have it..." Flutter noted swiftly. "I hate chocolate." It was true, though a surprise to many. Flutter despised chocolate, something a number of girls her age adored. "i'll just take a strawberry and be set."
"Joey, you know the way there then, right? Can you take her there?" Flutter looked at Sayaku with startled eyes. "Relax, sis. I can guarantee the only thing you have to worry about with this guy is his energy level. He might tire you out, but he won't bite or anything. You know I'm right about these things ninety-nine percent of the time." "Y-Yeah but we shouldn't trouble him!" She retorted, apparently still uneasy." "Eh, it might do some good for him to get out of here for a while." Peter noted. "Thanks for being on my side." Sayaku grinned. Flutter slumped. |
"Ah, you don't like chocolate? Such a shame." Joey said as if it really were a tragedy. "I can take take her." He said to Saya, then turned to Flutter. "You have nothing to worry about, mon chérie. I will be a gentleman." She gave her a stunning smile that made even Olivia's heart miss a beat. Perhaps he could be charming when he wished to be. "We have him well trained, promise." Olivia said throwing him a grin.
|
"What does mon chérie mean? Big brother, is that some sort of pastry that has cherries or something? It sorta sounds like a mont blanc cake.." She giggled a bit, liking the idea. Mont blanc cakes were delightful, in her opinion. Sweet chestnuts. "Trained? Like a puppy?"
"He may actually be a puppy in disguise," Sayaku noted with a chuckle, responding to his sister. "Joey's energy level sure matches one. And he's nice like a pup. So maybe he is a pup." |
Olivia laughed. "He's definitely a puppy." She reached over and flicked Joey on the nose. "Just do that if he ever misbehaves. Works on my dog back home." Joey rubbed his nose as if it were actually hurt, but then he grinned. "Mon chérie means my dear. Would you prefer Mademoiselle?" He asked.
"You speak French?" Olivia said, surprised. "Fluently." Joey answered. |
"Can't you just call me by name instead?" Flutter laughed nervously. "To be honest, I'm not very good at English let alone French."
"Her first language was Japanese. She grew up in Japan while I grew up in Norway." Sayaku nodded simply, smiling. "I speak more French or English then she ever will considering how bad her language grades are. Then again, being unable to read doesn't help." "You be quiet, big brother!" Flutter whined. He laughed and pat her head. |
Joey smiled warmly. "Then Flutter it is." Olivia smiled at the siblings, they really were fun to watch. It made her miss her own sisters. "Hmm, looks like class is gonna start soon." She noted, slightly disappointed. She wanted to continue talking to everyone.
"Then shall I escort Miss Flutter to her hotel?" Joey asked, rising to clean his tray then sitting back down. |
"Don't you have class too, Joey?"
"He can afford to miss for this, I'd say," Peter said. This was a shocker to Sayaku, who had assumed Peter would be quick to protest the idea. "What? It's true." "Um...O-Okay." Flutter nodded silently. "Joey, I'm counting on you to take care of my sister, 'kay? Don't let her do anything stupid." "I should be telling you the same thing, big brother..." Flutter laughed a bit, smiling to the others. "Thank you for taking care of big brother." |
"Peter is correct. Besides, I work to hard for my own good." Joey smiled and then looked over at Saya. "I will protect her with my life." He said solemnly, his eyes sliding up to Flutter. There was something soft in his expression when he looked at her, which gave Olivia the impression that he really would protect Flutter with his life. "My dear Miss Catane shall we go?" He asked, standing. Olivia saw his hand sort of twitch and she realized he had meant to hold his hand out for her but decided against it. Which was good because Olivia assumed Flutter was nervous enough.
|
"Just Flutter is just fine, kay?" Flutter laughed a bit. His constant attempts at being overly polite both irked her and made her admire him at least a bit. However, she really got confused by it all the same. "Big brother, be good and come visit me kay?"
"Sure. I'll bring my math homework so we can work on it together." "Yay! Do you understand it yet?" "Not a bit." "Well I'll help then!" She smiled happily before running nearby to Joey, though not overly close. "Shall we go then?" "Why does your little sister have to help you with our math?" Peter mumbled to his friend, meanwhile. "She's a math freak, and math is my worst subject. That's why." |
Joey laughed. "No nicknames then? Alright Flutter." He gave her a crooked grin then began to walk, being sure she was with him. Olivia turned to look at Saya when they left. "You're sister is adorable." She told him with a smile. She hoped she would get to see her again.
((sorry, short post)) |
((It's a fine post, silly! :3))
"She's different, that's for sure," Sayaku noted, laughing nervously. "She looks more like mom while I look like our dad. So...Most people can't tell we're related at all." Flutter followed Joey quietly, staring at the ground and trying to watch her steps fairly careful. "Thank you for helping me." She noted quietly. Her voice was soft and almost hard to hear, but it held a similar pitch as her brother's though higher to some extent. |
Olivia nodded. "If I look very hard I can see it, just a little bit. She's nothing like my sisters, yet she reminds me of them." She said fondly, thinking of her siblings.
Joey looked down at Flutter a strange expression on his face. Before the others had acted like a buffer for his crazy antics. He really didn't want to frighten her. "It's no problem, really." He told her, barely catching her soft words. His voice was soft, different from the one he used around his friends. "You'll love the hotel, really, it has pool, and a game room, and a bunch of stuff." |
"Eh, she's not like a lot of people. But some people say that's part of 'er charm or something." Sayaku shook it off.
"As long as it has a bed in a room I should be fine," Flutter replied quickly. I'm afraid of water and, while the game room sounds fun, it isn't a necessity. I just need somewhere to sleep." |
"I agree, it really is. Ah, we should probably get to class." Olivia said, standing and dumping her tray. "Come one, English awaits." She wondered how Flutter and Joey were doing.
Joey's eyebrows raised high. This girl was very serious, which was something he himself was very inexperienced with. Being serious just didn't come naturally to him. "I used to scared of water, when I was little. In fact I would barely set foot in a bathtub," He grinned at her, "But then one day my dad asked me what I would do if I ever tried to act in a movie where I had to swim I told I just wouldn't audition for those movies, but I knew that new actors can't be that picky about what work on. So... I worked through it. It took two years." He told her. Then he felt a little nervous. He didn't normally share his life stories with others. |
"Yeah, it definitely does, doesn't it? I'm lucky that our first class is something I'm actually good at." He laughed a bit, throwing out his garbage as well. He looked around curiously. "I hope Sis and Joey are alright. I hate to admit it, but I'm still pretty worried... But...Something tells me Joey can handle it."
"You like acting then, I'm assuming." She replied simply. Strangely enough, that was the main thing she'd pulled out of the story- his interest in theater. "I don't really know much about those things... Then again, most of what I do know about people is through stories big brother tells me or things I see on the television..." She laughed nervously at that point herself, surprised to some extent she even threw that part out there. "When I was little...I was afraid of baths too. Because my uncle always made them a tad too cold, and I'd freeze up like an ice cube. I...Don't do well with the cold. I'm always cold anyway.. I've never found water that's warm enough to make me not feel cold. So it makes me nervous. Is that a stupid reason?" |
Olivia smiled at Saya's worry. His protective older brother side was kind of adorable. She had to stifle a giggle and the urge to give him a reassuring hug. There had been to much hugging today already. Instead she nodded and began to walk toward their class. "You know, I kind of think Joey could handle almost anything. Or at least act like it." She grinned and gave him a playful nudge with her shoulder.
Joey smiled broadly. "I love acting. I've never found anything I enjoy more. I'm... a tad bit envious of the people acting in the play, but I'll get more chances, and directing is fun. I choose all the cast." His smiled changed to a grin. "Oliver's acting in it too, along with Saya. He's playing a maid. Honestly I just needed someone to play the maid at first, but Olly's face is so girl like I;m kind excited to see him dressed like one. I wonder how convincing it will look..." He trailed off a smile on his face. "No, it's not stupid at all. This may sound a bit... odd, but I'm positive their are not stupid fears. If your scared, your scared. They 'why's' and 'what's' don't matter." He said giving her a soft smile. This girl was strange, but he liked her. |
"Perhaps. He is an amazing actor. I mean, we've seen more than one side of him already. I don't know where the acting starts, stops or anything." Sayaku laughed a bit to himself- he liked thinking about such things. "He's pretty hard to comprehend in some aspects... But he's a good person. That much is obvious."
"I like your idea about it much more then most people's." Flutter replied, giggling slightly. She'd never heard a single person tell her no fears were stupid to have- but she ignored those people most of the time, as whether it was stupid or not didn't change the fact that she was indeed afraid. "Oliver..." She tried to remember who was who at the table, then smiled when she remembered. "To be honest, he does look rather girl-like. I daresay he has more feminine a face then I do in many aspects... Perhaps he was meant to be born and Olivia but wasn't?" She smiled to the other boy. "So you are in charge of casting. Is it a hard role? I don't know what logic goes into putting one person to a part, but it does make me curious." |
Olivia agreed. Who was Joey? Was he simply the goof ball they saw all the time, or was there a deeper side to him? She suspected the later. "He's a person of many faces, that's for sure, but I think... there's something deeper to him. Isn't there something deeper to everyone?" She thought about it for a moment. "Well, at the very least his heart is in the right place." She smiled fondly, Joey was an individual, that was for sure.
"Olivia...." Joey tasted the word on his tongue and smiled. It did seem to fit the boy, oddly enough. "That's sounds about right. I think I'll get a kick out of calling him it sometime later. Oh, the look on his face will be priceless, I can guarantee it!" He laughed imagining the surprised expression he would wear. "Finding someone for a role can be very easy, or it can be very hard. Rarely is it ever in between. Sometimes people fit the part so naturally you see it instantly, but other times it take a while to find the character in them, but once you do? Boy! Is it ever worth it. Those ones tend to shine the most." He smiled as he thought of the actors he picked. He'd worked them all out know and he was sure it would work out well. |
"That's true. Everyone has a number of faces, I suppose. I remember in the village, there was this really mysterious guy that would come at least once a year during the harvest festival and make corn mazes for the kids. He was really good at making interesting mazes... Even sis loved them, though she usually collapsed at the entrance. He was a real nice guy too. But... He never talked about himself. So it was always hard to decipher him." Once at the door to their classroom, he opened it and held it open for Oliver and a couple other students heading into the classroom.
"There are some names that just seem to fit others more than even their own. I suppose to some extent that's where nicknames come from. I don't remember ever calling my big brother by his full first name. It's always been 'Saya' or 'Big Brother'. A close friend from where we were born is always Chini even though her name is Chinza... It's just natural to call someone something even if it's not their name. But it can be annoying sometimes too. Even if it just seems natural to Saya, I really hate when he calls me 'Flute'..." She shook it off, trying not to blabber on too long about the topic. "How can you tell so simply if someone is meant for a specific part? Does it have to do with how they act on a day to day basis? It sounds complicated to me...Maybe I should just stick to my goal on becoming a botanist." She laughed a bit to herself, smiling. "It's good that you seem to enjoy it though. Enjoying what you do is important, after all." |
Olivia felt odd as she walked through the door held open by Saya. It was obviously just a polite gesture, one he repeated for a few others that came through, but she couldn't help feeling happy. In a weird sort of way it was almost like a interaction between a gentleman and a lady, whether that gentleman knew it or not did not matter. She smiled at sat in her seat, ready for the lesson.
"It's... difficult to explain. I geuss... when you picture the character you want in your head you find the person the matches it the best. But not looks wise, that can be fixed with make-up and other things like that, you have to see if they can really become that character. It's just something you know I guess. But maybe that's because I'm an theater junkie." He laughed and scratched the back of his head. He looked in front of them. "Oh, here it is. Do you need help checking in?" He asked. ((Time skip to them getting their measurements/scripts?)) |
((Surely. Can you start that part off though? >< -knows nothing about such things...besides the script part- Each time I've been in a play, school-produced only thus far, we have to bring our own clothes and make a costume out of that.))
Sayaku took a seat easily, preparing his desk for class and then awaiting the teacher's entrance. "I've never been to such an establishment before, but I'll manage." She smiled simply, bowing politely as she had grown up doing, being foreign and not knowing any better. "Thank you for escorting me here. I hope to see you again sometime if you'd like." Smiling simply to him, she gave a quick wave before spinning to head to the reception desk, though falling partway there and catching herself on a chair. She was truly clumsy- but, she did try her best to get there in one piece. |
