The retaliation was not expected. Once his body hit the cold waters it forgot about the throbbing pain in his privates and frantically tried to fail upwards. Once his head broke the surface he heard the other yell at him 'there is no honor in a house of spies”. He growled spitting out the salt water. Angry ruby's glared at the noble. “fuck your honor, your home, and your lies you whore. ” He bobbled to a pole that held the pier and started to climb it.

he he turned and growled down at the other but otherwise did not move "i have been honest with my intentions since the beginning, not once have i tried to deceive you"

"And I have kept all my promises to you." He said reaching out for the harbors edge. "Even the ones I swore in blood." Ree slipped a little threatening to fall back into the murky waters. "It was never said I could not tell anyone." Ree flopped on to the harbor and rolled to his feet after a few quick breaths. He pulled his blade out from its hiding spot among his arm. "my family did not deserve what you did." He lunged at the royal aiming for his lower body.

easily he avoided the other and backed away just enough that any attack would be ineffective "one would think my safety would entail not risking my life. use common sense"

His fist went to back hand the boy turning and throwing his entire body into the punch. “Then go back to your ivory tower. It is no safer for you out at sea.”

he let the other swing and softly fell into the punch, at the full swing of it he grabbed the other by the waist and dropped them both to the ground. he knew he was at a disadvantage in strength but he was angry enough and the other was still off from his last attack. he did not give the other the opportunity for the first punch

When they stopped rolling, Ree found himself underneath the royal. He panted heavily from the exertion of the fight. Ree coughed up a laugh at his disposition. "No retorts from the whore? I didn't know you delicate flowers liked it rough." His hand ran itself over the confined posterior of Kais. He smacked the bottom. "I must admit, you will be one tough piece of meat to make tender." |
the words coupled with the hand on his backside were too much and reaching out he grabbed the thief by the neck and angrily throttled him. "i am not a whore, i never was a whore, i will never be a whore and i never want you to touch me like that again you damn dirty mongrel beast!"

Ree continued to laugh. The noble had said not to touch him. He did not say anything about kissing. He reached out and pulled the other into a kiss. "Then don't invite people to sleep in your bed."

he felt the anger leave him at the kiss and limply he let his fingers fall away, as the other pulled back he found himself in a dazed flush, "....i..didn't invite you..to anything though"

He was surprised that all it took to subdue the noble was a kiss. His arms found them selves around the others waist and pulled him back close to him. "Kais." He said being serious. It was then that he took his blade and pricked his finger again. It worked the first time Ree thought he would try for second. "I have not broken my promises to you, if you trust my blood then anything you demand of me until this journey is over is yours. I will guard you, and see to it that you make it home safely. I will take your secrets to my death bed. In return I ask for another boon."

he didn't look away though badly he wanted to in his shame. "ree, you have not asked for your other boon yet, until i give it to you i cannot make another with you"

He studied the grey eyes. "Why can't I? You never told me that one was the limit in the rules." He released one arm from around Kais pushing himself up. "Kais... Listening to you in the tub, you sounded like a bird in a cage taught to play the same tune. you are the first person I have told this, but I would like for you to be happy. You have made me crave adventure beyond my mothers house. How can I get you to trust me since every thing seems to have a price to you?"

"i did tell you this the last time you requested a boon" he wasn't so certain how to answer the other question so he decided to speak plainly, "trust is a commodity to be bought as is everything, i have spent my life seeing that when things are not paid for they mean nothing and are quickly lost"

he opened his mouth to explain that those were things he would receive anyway but as his lips formed the first syllable they fell into a smile and he went in another direction, "you are selling yourself as a slave with those words but i am a businessman at heart not a slave-master so i won't take advantage, i offer what you requested and this," standing up he looked around and took up his bag. shuffling about in it he pulled out a silver band, "to be paid in advance and spent how you please." coming back to the other he held it it

He inspected the ring slowing rising to his feet. It was nothing less then pure sliver and worth a lot more then the spoons he fenced earlier. He slid it on to the only finger where it would fit, the one before his pinky. “Deal.” He said once it was on. He walked over to his things and neatly refolded the clothing he had bought for Kais. "These are for you." He said with a smile. "I thought you would like to be clean while traveling." |
he nodded and accepted the somewhat wrinkled and dusty clothes. quickly he shoved them into one of his bags, "so are we spending the night at an inn or is your silence dependable enough to go back to your 'mother's' home? i still have not picked a destination or a ship so it is not as if you have any information to give"

He turned looking over the city. All of his things were at his home but the boy did not trust his mother. “I will not say a word to her since have requested that I do not.” He said at last mimicking a gesture that said he zipped his lips. “I...” He paused. “I would just like to say good bye. She is all I have ever known. Am I allowed to do that?” |
he nodded. "i never said you could not, i know you have close loyalties to her, i would be more surprised if you did not wish to stay a little longer." he tried to smile sympathetically. "i am sure you will miss her, we have another night, spend it with your mother"

He walked over to Kais rapping his arm around the others. "Come, lets go home then. I am sure there is still some bread and cheese left to eat before we sleep." He pulled the other along, guiding him through the streets where he knew there were no ambushes lurking around the corner until the hobbled shack came into view. This time the sound of the kettle could not be heard but the central light inside was still on. Ree led the other to the kitchen where sure enough the cheese and bread awaited.

he followed behind the other even as he was led back to the house of the blind woman. when the other started making a simple meal he offered to help out and digging around pulled the small ham he had nicked from the larder the other night and gave it to the other with a request to take a large slice out to see off his last night in his birth-home

He did as instructed. Ree wondered how the royal came across the meat, but did not audibly asked. Instead once he made the sandwiches he found his appetite was lost. Especially as the elderly woman came hobbling into the room. He could see the others reluctance to leave but he needed to have this conversation. In the end, he pulled Kais upstairs to the tune of a broken cup and a sobbing woman inside the kitchen. There was nothing left he could do especially since he would not give back the ring. He let Kais have the bed while he tip toed around the the little one, gathering his entire life's saving from various hiding spots around the room.

he didn't like the face the other made but to his credit he stayed by his side. he had no sympathy for the woman however and kept his heart hard. she would have lost him soon all the same, they were near to the same age by his reckoning and so the other boy would be soon to marry and leave. he only quickened the inevitable. rolling over in the boy's grip he looked at the dark face. this boy was who he entrusted his life with. an improvement over going by himself but still, not much. he sighed, he almost felt bad for the other but his own needs were more important right now. he'd send the other back when he reached his destination. letting the comfort of those thoughts lull him he rested in the strong arms and went to sleep

Ree woke to the others neck in his face once more. He slipped from underneath the other. His bag lay on the side of the bed. He was already to escape. Ree snuck around the house quietly trying to gather more of what he thought they would need for the journey. When he returned he shook Kais until he blinked angrily at him. “Wake up or we will never leave.” He pulled the young noble out of bed, helping him to get dressed through the grumbles. They left while the sun was still waking from his own bed.

the day was beautiful and warm and filled with foreign ships. he could not help but smile as he searched for something suited to their needs

He curled his body around the others leg, tucking his knees into the other thigh. “Watching, Ben and watching the Lady Roux has made me wary of Nobles. You are not like them Kais. You have not tricked me, you have not feed me medicine to sedate me. You have made me a better person by teaching me to read and giving a vagabond a chance... “ A heat rose from his face with his next words. “You... had wine with me....Kais.” He said softly “Will you kiss me?”

he wanted to argue and say he did attempt it, he did cheat the boy and twice ree had suffered because of him but the request was too much and feeling his own face heat up from the lightly begging tone he could not help but reach down and take those lips for his own

Ree happily took his kiss but did not demand any more then what he asked for. Instead he smoothed his thumb across Kais's face. When his moment of study was over he took another kiss, devouring the taste of the prince.

he could tell by now ree wanted more, even if the kiss was not pleading his habit would have given him away and so was confused when the other did not reattach a third time. he licked his lips. "why did you stop?" "i thought of retiring as a thief." he was lost momentarily until he realized what ree was trying not to 'steal'. he smiled. "didn't you say yourself it is not stealing if it is given? you are not stealing kisses from me when i ave offered them freely"

He watched the noble walk, the first few steps were met with a wince and a whine, the second attempt he became increasingly unsteady until at last Ree rushed to catch him before his knees gave way. Tucking his arms under the others knees he lifted him and toted him back to the bed. "I suppose you are my prisoner until you can at least walk with out falling, just enough to pass your guards, least more rumors fly."

the pain was wretched and he hated that his body was so weak against something that he usually could ignore by now. if he were of a more charitable mind he would pity women more but as it stood what was not taken by his own loathing was pulled away with ree's words, "there is only two reasons a prince would spend a day in another person's quarters, either they were plotting or making delegations of the sort ree would approve of and that i was here all of last night lends little credence to the former"

That made Ree laugh, though it ruined his plans to work in the garden since he was sure Kais would not want to be seen carried about like a blushing bride. "If you are trapped in my bed you are under my command. And I command you read to me and brush my hair." He said slyly.

"and i am a prince and this is my house. i could just toss you out and be done with it all." lightly he huffed as ree shifted and moved beside him, "i will read to you if you like but you can brush your own hair, you are not a child or a woman"

He moved around searching his belongings for a book the other could read. "But Kais, I want to be touched with out having sex." He said plainly. "You do not touch me in another spot. And even then only the brush is actually touching me."

saying nothing he held his ground and ree quickly hushed and came back with a book. he could see it was the ledger from ree's father and waiting for the other to settle against him and put it in his lap he tentatively let his fingers fall and tangle in ree's locks, "you are a fool ree, who said i didn't want to touch you?"

"You do not have to say anything Kais, I have eyes. I can see your hesitation." He said nothing as his body moved to see the words on he ledger and use Kais as a pillow. "I understand you can not treat me as my mother did, but there are times it keeps me from falling into melancholy, and if I am happy, Kais is happy."
