Gallagher 12-03-2017 12:23 AM

ah, yes. a classical look.

Glitch 12-03-2017 01:40 PM

BWAH rough night. baby is teething again ;-;

Mekatra 12-03-2017 01:43 PM

Ugh, my friend's birthday party was so fun... but I stayed up until 5 in the morning and my body wouldn't let me sleep past 9Am... I feel like the barely moving (not walking for sure) dead.

D: Put some whiskey on her gums (bad advice from ancient parenting manuals)

mdom 12-04-2017 02:54 PM

Awww Winter already has tooths!! Growing up so fast!!

Claire Bear 12-04-2017 02:56 PM

my boyfriend has suggested that we use the whiskey trick when we have kids and i totally flipped out on him

"NO ALCHOHOL IN OUR BABY EVER, NO NO NO NO NO" lol ;-; i'm gonna be one of those hellicopter type parents i know it.

Mekatra 12-04-2017 03:00 PM

Just let them face some challenges on their own or they come out seriously unable to handle anything. It's really disconcerting to see an adult that is actually incapable of doing things they really need to be able to because their parents did everything for them.

Claire Bear 12-04-2017 03:02 PM

;-; god, so true. my mom over mothered me and i had a hard time becoming an adult.

-_-

i think the main goal as a parent is to just try and do a better job than your own parents did lol.

Mekatra 12-04-2017 03:05 PM

My parents basically abandoned me to figure shit out on my own at a somewhat young age, which sounds like awful parenting, but I am decently well adjusted compared to my friends that were in college before their parents let them do anything on their own.

I also am excellent at grocery shopping for cheap because my mom would literally take me to the store, give me a hundred dollar bill and say "buy enough groceries for the week and you can keep the change" so I became VERY good at budgeting and meal planning.

I feel like too many people focus on giving their kids all the things they wish they had instead of teaching them all the things they wish they knew.

Gallagher 12-04-2017 03:06 PM

oh me me me, i'm grown and can't function!!!

Mekatra 12-04-2017 03:07 PM

Do we need to have "How to Adult" classes?

Claire Bear 12-04-2017 03:08 PM

lol. you gotta find something in the middle of giving too many responsibilities to a kid or not enough. i think its probably much harder to do than it sounds in theory.

Claire Bear 12-04-2017 03:08 PM

i could use a how to adult class, tbh.

Mekatra 12-04-2017 03:09 PM

I can't explain how the hell taxes in America work though, so that's an adult thing I can't help anyone with.

Espy 12-04-2017 03:10 PM

<-- was top of their class in primary school
<-- started dropping in hs maybe due to undiagnosed adhd
<-- is currently a mess

(my mom: WHERE DID WE GO WRONG, WE TRIED TO GIVE YOU EVERYTHING.
me: ye just answered yer own question)
