thanks Ashwood!

Kaderin Triste 04-02-2018 08:11 PM

Psh....I'll never stop running! *gasp...pant....falls over dead*

Den 04-02-2018 08:17 PM

All my unprimed minis are no longer in such a state. I'm debating about painting a one or two tonight...

Kaderin Triste 04-02-2018 08:34 PM

Hokay guys, I currently, (until my one boss decides to overwork me), have a bunch of free time to start my Ape-ril project. But I don't have much brown yarn... so what color(s) should I use instead?

EverAshwood 04-02-2018 10:02 PM

I was gonna use red for mine, since I don't have brown but I do have dark red
But then I found a sock monkey pattern so now I'm doing yellow so I can still have a red hat that contrasts

What colors ya got?

Kaderin Triste 04-02-2018 10:21 PM

Practically everything except brown.
I have a huge yarn collection, but brown just isn't a color I've ever bought unless it was for a specific project.

XoGizmooX 04-02-2018 10:24 PM

Tan orange black grey white red ????? Depends if your making like an ape or gorilla or chimp etc

trystan830 04-02-2018 10:25 PM

also, Kaderin - no dying allowed. XD

Damies 04-02-2018 11:58 PM

MAKE A WHITE GORILLA LIKE FROM THE MOVIE CONGO!

Edit:
Also I dun goofed a project a little bit...

Kaderin Triste 04-03-2018 12:45 AM

I don't actually have a gorilla pattern. Just a cute little monkey. I think it only requires 2 colors.
Although I could do sort of a mis-matched type with all the arms and legs different colors...

Den 04-03-2018 01:05 AM

Franken-Monkey! Do it.

Kaderin Triste 04-03-2018 01:27 AM

*checks pattern*
If I keep the "accent"/light color the same, I'll need...8 colors, but if I do even the light color parts all different (including each ear different colors), I'll need 14 colors. I can do this! Just whatever I grab at the time that I decide to work on it!

EverAshwood 04-03-2018 11:33 AM

I BELIEVE IN YOU, KADERIN

@damies DANG what happened?

Edit: The
(Sock) Monkey's Paw lol

Kaderin Triste 04-03-2018 02:57 PM

Dayum! You're gonna be finished before I even start at this rate!

Also, just remembered I need to work on/finish an apron this week. So might not get the monkey done as soon as I thought.

EverAshwood 04-03-2018 05:59 PM

If it helps, I just can't stop crocheting XD it's the only thing that quiets my mind, so I just do it like constantly
I was actually trying to make another turtle before March ended, but all I got is a shell and a head XD (wayyyyy nicer with a pattern!!)

Den 04-03-2018 07:22 PM

I painted a mini in the wee hours of the morning today... and another one tonight.

Death by Mirrors 04-04-2018 04:11 AM

Cool mini, Den! His pose is awesome.

EverAshwood, when you said sock monkey, I thought you were creating one from an old sock ^^ but crochet always looks nice too

Lol I wish I had the spare socks for that

Kaderin Triste 04-04-2018 07:26 PM

Excellent work, Den!

Started my monkey last night! Having trouble with just grabbing colors at random, so I've been kind of picking and choosing, trying to not make it clash even though it's supposed to be a franken-monkey.
No pics yet, though possibly will take one tonight of what I have made so far.

Reaper: "It's Britney, b*tch!"
(I love it btw <3 skellies are my jam)

I have decided I don't particularly like playing with alcohol inks.

I'm putting all other crafts on hold to get cosplays done(for an upcoming convention and other cosplays. :x )

EverAshwood 04-07-2018 12:27 PM

I keep forgetting to post this wip:

Not pictured: one leg, one foot, and a tail. And yet I'm working on his damn hat lmao

Kaderin Triste 04-07-2018 09:22 PM

Awww so cute!
I have 2 arms and the head on mine mostly done (except stitching up, stuffing, and details like eyes) and possibly will get one or both legs (and maybe even the other pieces) done if I'm off tomorrow like the not finalized schedule I saw earlier in the week said.

KittyBeary 04-08-2018 06:43 AM

Nice minis!

Kaderin Triste 04-09-2018 09:01 PM

I was bad and bought a bunch of pretty batik fat quarters today. But only because we had a coupon that makes them 70 cents each.

Death by Mirrors 04-10-2018 04:35 AM

That's not bad, that's smart. There's so many things you can do with fat quarters! ^^

Yes, there's literally tons. 8D

I've made pin cushions, bags, mickey ears, cosplay pieces, etc with em :D OH and I made my turtle out of fat quarters. XD

Kaderin Triste 04-10-2018 09:53 AM

...but like, I can't really sew. I don't know how! Pretty sure my sewing machine's tension is still off even though I've adjusted it a bajillion times. And I literally cannot sew a straight line!

Death by Mirrors 04-10-2018 04:23 PM

...but like, now you can practice to sew. Straight lines aren't that hard, you just need to try a few more times. Tension can also depend on your fabric, so what works with one may be off with the other. How exactly is it off? Is the bottom thread showing on the top? Top thread showing on the bottom? Weird loops all around?

Kaderin Triste 04-10-2018 05:34 PM

It's been a while since I've used my machine tbh.
I know that mostly I'm just spewing excuses because I'm a little scared of wasting fabric on stupid practice stuff. I need to test the tension the way we learned in middle school home ec to be sure, but I think it was possibly weird loops all around last time.
I know that solutions can be googled and that there are more experienced people here that I can ask. I don't know why I don't do it.

Okay, so just double checked and I wouldn't necessarily say "weird loops" but the top and bottom threads are showing on both sides. Like a little dot kind of? Mostly it's the top thread showing on the bottom that's the worst though.

Note: Just adjusted bobbin tension slightly and also tried out different tension settings on the top also. Nothing is helping the problem.
I have taken pictures of the problem (in case they're needed), but should try to find my sewing machine manual. I think it some tips for this kind of thing.

KittyBeary 04-10-2018 09:57 PM

I'm better at hand sewing than machine sewing. Plus I don't have a working machine, so I do all my sewing by hand. x_x But I'm crazy used to it. XD

Kaderin Triste 04-10-2018 10:17 PM

Is hand sewing difficult? I think about doing it, but it's even more intimidating than sewing with a machine...plus, I feel like sewing straight lines would be even harder...

Den 04-10-2018 10:51 PM

It's not really difficult. A thimble will be your friend. and it just takes practice to get straight lines.

Kaderin Triste 04-10-2018 11:28 PM

Might have to look into it. Then I wouldn't have to play tension war with my sewing machine.
It's seriously frustrating me!

KittyBeary 04-11-2018 12:01 AM

I feel I can take more control over my stitching when doing it by hand. Though sewing by machine is much quicker. ^^;

Kaderin Triste 04-11-2018 12:07 AM

As with most things, there are pros and cons.
