"...Nate, do you want a drink?" Mail asked.
"I don't like flying," He told the flight attendant as she gave him a strange stare.
"Okay," She commented, brushing it off. "I'll get him a water." |
"Get him something for his nerves and put it in the water." Mail nodded.
She looked at him in surprise, before looking toward 'Nate'. After a moment of being shocked that he didn't protest - as was Mail - she slipped away.
"I want you to drink it all." Mail told Near.
"If I sleep the whole way, I will be very grateful to Mail," Near admitted, still rocking back and forth.
"But then you can't talk to me." Mail blinked.
The young boy turned to look at him in surprise. "Why would Mail want to talk to me?"
"I like talking to you." Mail smiled.
Near stared at him a little longer, before he tilted his head. "No one has... ever told me that before."
"Then they're all morons." Mail laughed. "Because you're fun to be around."
"I'm... fun?" The little boy actually sounded surprised.
"Yeah, you're a blast." Mail moved over to the seat in front of Near and looked over the back of it at him.
The younger boy watched him carefully, before he smiled. "My thanks to Mail..."
"For the truth?" Mail asked.
"For kindly lying to me," Near informed as he uncurled one leg, letting it drop - still with the other pulled against his chest... just as he was in the show.
In fact, a lot of the things about Near were similar to the show... if it really was written off of real life, the person writing it would have to have known Near very well. |
