we're prolly doing different techniques, though.
oh yes. crochet, toe-up, short-row heel; two different colors. i'll post a pic shortly =)
lol and I'm doing Naalbinding. really simple U/OO
i've heard of that, never seen it done though
It's actually pretty easy to learn. I'm sticking with simple for now, because I can't figure out how to do more complex stitches yet.
very cool!
They're gonna be good for winter, and late fall, because I'm using wool, and Naalbinding makes for a very sturdy fabric.
warm socks are always a good thing for winter!
Indeed. Especially with as easily as I get cold.
ah yeah
it's weird. I'm pretty sure I have Reynauld's Syndrome.
well that doesn't sound that good
I keep forgetting to ask my doctor to check for it when I go for checkups.
write it down somewhere?
odds are, I'd lose the paper I wrote it down on... I'm bad at keeping track of stuff.
put a reminder on your phone?
That might work.
I'll have to figure out how I'm going to make the heel for my socks, eventually. |
i just did a short-row heel on my socks, and i really like making them this way, actually.
Okay so....to the hand-sewers in the group:
What are some tips and advice you would pass on to a beginner and what would a good starting project be? Because my sewing machine tension is still off and I have checked and tested and re-threaded it about a bazillion times. (Okay. So only like half a dozen, but still...) |
Pillowcase, or pillows. simple shapes, straight seams.
Time to make a tiny pillow for Derpy!
lol you could also make him his own sleeping bag. same principle as a pillowcase.
That would be pretty cute.
And with summer coming up, fairly appropriate also. XD A camping set for Derpy! Ah man....my stitching started off almost okay and quickly went crooked. Derpy is not gonna have a nice rectangular pillow when I've finished... XD Although if I'm lucky, I'll only screw up on the long sides and it can kind of be a rhombus... |
That'd be frickin' adorable.
Remembered that I still need to finish my monkey for Ape-ril, so I put away my sewing for now. (Totally not gonna have the monkey done. But at least will have all the parts made.)
Also, we're taking theme suggestions for May since it's almost here! |
That's an amazing painting. Would've never guessed it's just from using leftovers.
ah heck, I never finished my ape... o.o
funny story.
i'm wearing a shawl today (no, that's not the funny part), but i remember having a pin that was a black flower that i could use to keep the shawl closed... but i have no idea where i put it! on my way in to work today, i told myself i can crochet a new flower and put a pin backing on it. and then i see the new theme for May! (and that's the funny part) XD |
Shhhh! That's not necessarily the theme yet! There's been no announcement!
>.> <.< |
true... but it's still funny.....
and my vote is also for Mayflowers |
"Me too! I wanna May flowers! Pweeeaaase?"
I was about to suggest science fiction (because May 4th, ya know) but flowers does sound like a great theme.
I learned a new naalbinding stitch! :D
**Anouncement**
Has winter seemed to drag on? Maybe you've actually had some April showers? Well, hopefully spring is on it's way! Let's all cheer it on with some bright May flowers! (Or Mayflowers, whichever.) And may the fourth be with you! ;D In case you missed that, this month's theme is May Flowers! To be interpreted however you want. |
tee hee!
I've actually got a few flower patterns that I've been meaning to try out. Most of them involve felting though and I don't have many yarns that would work for that. Except some of the ones I dyed a while back and I don't remember which of those are superwash and which aren't. (I should have labeled them, but forgot to...)
