Den 04-27-2018 12:14 AM

we're prolly doing different techniques, though.

trystan830 04-27-2018 12:20 AM

oh yes. crochet, toe-up, short-row heel; two different colors. i'll post a pic shortly =)

Den 04-27-2018 12:21 AM

lol and I'm doing Naalbinding. really simple U/OO

trystan830 04-27-2018 12:28 AM

i've heard of that, never seen it done though

Den 04-27-2018 01:05 AM

It's actually pretty easy to learn. I'm sticking with simple for now, because I can't figure out how to do more complex stitches yet.

trystan830 04-27-2018 01:06 AM

very cool!

Den 04-27-2018 01:25 AM

They're gonna be good for winter, and late fall, because I'm using wool, and Naalbinding makes for a very sturdy fabric.

trystan830 04-27-2018 01:36 AM

warm socks are always a good thing for winter!

Den 04-27-2018 02:06 AM

Indeed. Especially with as easily as I get cold.

trystan830 04-27-2018 02:09 AM

ah yeah

Den 04-27-2018 02:20 AM

it's weird. I'm pretty sure I have Reynauld's Syndrome.

trystan830 04-27-2018 02:21 AM

well that doesn't sound that good

Den 04-27-2018 02:26 AM

I keep forgetting to ask my doctor to check for it when I go for checkups.

trystan830 04-27-2018 02:30 AM

write it down somewhere?

Den 04-27-2018 08:33 PM

odds are, I'd lose the paper I wrote it down on... I'm bad at keeping track of stuff.

trystan830 04-27-2018 09:52 PM

put a reminder on your phone?

Den 04-27-2018 11:26 PM

That might work.

I'll have to figure out how I'm going to make the heel for my socks, eventually.

trystan830 04-27-2018 11:49 PM

i just did a short-row heel on my socks, and i really like making them this way, actually.

Kaderin Triste 04-29-2018 06:03 PM

Okay so....to the hand-sewers in the group:

What are some tips and advice you would pass on to a beginner and what would a good starting project be? Because my sewing machine tension is still off and I have checked and tested and re-threaded it about a bazillion times. (Okay. So only like half a dozen, but still...)

Den 04-29-2018 06:39 PM

Pillowcase, or pillows. simple shapes, straight seams.

Kaderin Triste 04-29-2018 07:03 PM

Time to make a tiny pillow for Derpy!

Den 04-29-2018 07:48 PM

lol you could also make him his own sleeping bag. same principle as a pillowcase.

Kaderin Triste 04-29-2018 08:09 PM

That would be pretty cute.
And with summer coming up, fairly appropriate also.
XD

A camping set for Derpy!

Ah man....my stitching started off almost okay and quickly went crooked. Derpy is not gonna have a nice rectangular pillow when I've finished... XD
Although if I'm lucky, I'll only screw up on the long sides and it can kind of be a rhombus...

Den 04-29-2018 09:12 PM

That'd be frickin' adorable.

Kaderin Triste 04-29-2018 10:41 PM

Remembered that I still need to finish my monkey for Ape-ril, so I put away my sewing for now. (Totally not gonna have the monkey done. But at least will have all the parts made.)

Also, we're taking theme suggestions for May since it's almost here!

Damies 05-01-2018 12:57 AM

MAY FLOWERS! For theme. xP

Also my latest leftover paint painting:

Death by Mirrors 05-01-2018 07:51 AM

That's an amazing painting. Would've never guessed it's just from using leftovers.

EverAshwood 05-01-2018 09:04 AM

ah heck, I never finished my ape... o.o

trystan830 05-01-2018 11:43 AM

funny story.

i'm wearing a shawl today (no, that's not the funny part), but i remember having a pin that was a black flower that i could use to keep the shawl closed... but i have no idea where i put it!

on my way in to work today, i told myself i can crochet a new flower and put a pin backing on it. and then i see the new theme for May! (and that's the funny part) XD

Kaderin Triste 05-01-2018 01:42 PM

Shhhh! That's not necessarily the theme yet! There's been no announcement!
>.>
<.<

trystan830 05-01-2018 01:43 PM

true... but it's still funny.....

and my vote is also for Mayflowers

Derpy McBlueEyes 05-01-2018 01:49 PM

"Me too! I wanna May flowers! Pweeeaaase?"

Death by Mirrors 05-01-2018 05:39 PM

I was about to suggest science fiction (because May 4th, ya know) but flowers does sound like a great theme.

Den 05-01-2018 07:06 PM

I learned a new naalbinding stitch! :D

Kaderin Triste 05-01-2018 08:10 PM

**Anouncement**

Has winter seemed to drag on? Maybe you've actually had some April showers? Well, hopefully spring is on it's way! Let's all cheer it on with some bright May flowers! (Or Mayflowers, whichever.)
And may the fourth be with you!
;D

In case you missed that, this month's theme is May Flowers! To be interpreted however you want.

trystan830 05-01-2018 09:35 PM

tee hee!

Kaderin Triste 05-01-2018 10:03 PM

I've actually got a few flower patterns that I've been meaning to try out. Most of them involve felting though and I don't have many yarns that would work for that. Except some of the ones I dyed a while back and I don't remember which of those are superwash and which aren't. (I should have labeled them, but forgot to...)

Looks like a giant wave needs a tiny surfboard :)

Den 05-01-2018 10:10 PM

I found a flower pattern on Ravelry that I wanna try out.
