I don't really care about getting AU. I can get that easy enough.

Kali_Namir 07-20-2012 10:03 PM

Same here, but it's a thought. I've always thought it would be more incentive and could possibly help to make the site more active if people could have AU earning in social groups...

Either way, I think I'll set it up this weekend...

Lunaryon 07-20-2012 10:06 PM

Sweet! Can't wait to begin the mystery of how a Muggle with tech advanced far beyond ordinary levels found herself in the middle of Hogwarts...

Gallagher 07-20-2012 10:11 PM

-whines- I never got help with my characterrrr, now I'm running out of tiiiime~

I think groups would be a good way to break it up until we have enough people to call for private common room threads (preferably made by the associated heads of houses).

Lunaryon 07-20-2012 10:26 PM

What you had was kinda vauge... I'd be glad to help you right nao with you're character if you like.

Kali_Namir 07-20-2012 10:33 PM

I was thinking it wouldn't be officially open until September 1st (RP and Social Group) that way it gives us around a month and a half to get everything set up...

I was totally thinking that the Common Rooms Would be set up by Heads...It would just make it a little more awesome...

And if we get enough people, we might could to classes!

Gallagher 07-20-2012 10:35 PM

Pfft. Whatever, man. Whatever.

Let's see... -fusses with notes- With a squib/non mix... I'm going to assume the squib parent is a touch odd, because it's strange being in that sort of world but without the abilities to really join in... Whomever was interested in them would have to be very open, possibly intrigued by non-magical folks, or just not bothered by such matters... This paves the way for someone that would probably have simultaneous self-esteem troubles over their abilities and/or family line (the extent to which would be very swayed by the company they've been made to keep prior) and a friendly nature to those that might not always be viewed in a good light.

With what I know I want for their wand obsession and future career possibilities, I'm going to say they have a bit of an obsessive nature with such things, much too enthusiastic at times, but, at least where their interests are concerned, quite clever... Maybe not in other matters... Lack of confidence can start a real vicious cycle with ability, as we've already seen.

...

-flops on the floor- Oh goooood, but this isn't enouuuugh!

Lunaryon 07-20-2012 11:00 PM

Have the Squib Parent having a love for Potions, given that it's one of the few magics that s/he can use, which also gives your character a little bit of background knowledge into the subject.

I'm a little confused about what you mean as a Wand Obsession... Can you explain a little more?

Next handful of things are a little easier, because personality doesn't really tie in:
Gender
Hair length/color
ethnicity
eye color

Gallagher 07-20-2012 11:14 PM

Bah. Insignificant details, really, easy enough to pull out at the last minute.

I've mentioned it a bit in this thread before, but the new character will be an aspiring wand maker.

Part of the spark for it, I think, will come from the squib parent keeping a dead wand (which would have in turn belonged to a grandparent).

The potions thing is very good. The same could be said of CoMC, I think, and Herbology. Both of those would tie in with wand making and be a great boost... Of course, chances are good that they went to a Muggle school, and any knowledge in these subjects would have been picked up or self taught.

-grumblemutter- I'm feeling fairly good about the nurture aspect of personality, but there's still the nature...

Airina 07-20-2012 11:19 PM

I need to figure out a character... I has nothing yets....

Kali_Namir 07-20-2012 11:24 PM

I need to fix mine...and decide which one I wish to do...I think I may actually make a whole new one...Like a kind of childish headmaster who teaches History of Magic as well...idk...

Airina 07-20-2012 11:25 PM

I has no idea!

Gallagher 07-20-2012 11:36 PM

I would be very surprised if a headmaster had time to teach, do detentions, grade papers, all of that AND do their head duties. You might be reaching a little too far there.

Airina 07-20-2012 11:38 PM

That's what I was thinking, maybe be a headmistress who used to teach history of magic?

Kali_Namir 07-20-2012 11:44 PM

See...I really wanna use my teacher character, but I feel as though I'm supposed to play a headmistress role...

Gallagher 07-20-2012 11:46 PM

Is there going to be a rule against multiple characters?
