Death by Mirrors 05-07-2018 06:59 PM

Nah, if anything I make one for Derpy. Much smaller and faster finished xD
(but then again... you'll never know...)

So do you have a link of that video? I'm going to bed now, but it sounds like something worth checking out.

Kaderin Triste 05-07-2018 07:04 PM

Yeppers! Link is here:
https://youtu.be/qGPZ1QujqcU

I still haven't actually finished my first shawl from that video, but only because I ran out of yarn and I keep forgetting to buy more. And actually, I haven't finished my second one either. But only because we're out of stock of the yarn I need.

trystan830 05-07-2018 08:06 PM

i've made two scarves on my looms. i might make a wide shawl/wrap on my loom one of these days.... but for me, crocheting does go rather quickly for me.

i *try* to have one project in the works at a time, but right now i have three. *sigh* one's a blanket, so that may take a while, because i get distracted after working on one thing for a long time lol

Kaderin Triste 05-07-2018 08:17 PM

Haha...three. That's cute.
XD

Nah, it's good to have the ability to only work on one at a time. As aforementioned, I just tend to get bored with projects, so I tend to have a lot going on. If you include the stuff that's all made but just needs assembling, I think I have 11 ongoing loom projects. Possibly one or two more, but I might frog a few for now and start them over again later.

trystan830 05-07-2018 08:52 PM

ain't it cute?

ribbit. XD

KittyBeary 05-08-2018 02:33 AM

Darn, I have a project involving flowers coming up but it won't be til after May. x(

Death by Mirrors 05-08-2018 05:22 AM

Thank you for the link, Kaderin!

Ongoing projects... let's see... I think right now I have three as well, but that's not counting things I want to do but haven't yet started on.

KittyBeary, can you start your project early? If not, there's still the option to come back later. I think so far I've only done the craftalong in time twice (and yeah, that includes May)

Kaderin Triste 05-08-2018 03:16 PM

If I include my other crafts, not just loom knitting, I think I have probably close to 20 ongoing projects...

Death by Mirrors 05-08-2018 04:23 PM

That's a pretty impressive number. You're a multi-talented genius.

Kaderin Triste 05-08-2018 06:16 PM

Or maybe...I'm just lazy and have ADD-like tendencies with crafts...
XD

ALTHOUGH, depending on how tired I am when I get home from work and/or how ambitious I am tomorrow, I might actually try to finish my minion hippo since it's 2 parts are made so it just needs some sewing, eyes, and stuffing. Which means only around 19ish ongoing projects!

Den 05-08-2018 07:18 PM

I kinda wanna take some of my yarn and make a bunch of sleeves I can wear...

Death by Mirrors 05-09-2018 03:58 AM

Do it, Den!
They'll look fabulous on you and also keep you warm in overclimated rooms.

Den 05-09-2018 07:38 PM

I'll make a sleeves/bolero after I finish my rainbow kitty ears hat.

Kaderin Triste 05-09-2018 08:56 PM

Rainbow cat hat! Sounds cute!

I think tonight I need to pull all my WIPs out of the closet and get them organized.
And also clean out my closet so I can finally put my christmas tree away. Or maybe just get rid of it (the tree) since it's falling apart and I never decorate it anyway...

Also, I've decided that once I've finished a few projects (especially either my skirt or the peacock-ish color ), I'm gonna possibly do a very special temperature blanket for myself.

Den 05-10-2018 08:08 PM

I'm basing it on the "Pussyhat" of a few years back.

trystan830 05-10-2018 08:09 PM

a few years back? that was only january of 2017.

but yeah, it does feel like a few years back, now that you mention it.... XD

Den 05-10-2018 08:15 PM

... Fair point.

trystan830 05-10-2018 08:47 PM

it's been a really weird, long 476 days so far. (i have a website i visit that tells me what day of this administration, err... regime we're up to.)

Den 05-10-2018 08:53 PM

I've also got roller skate parts coming here sometime in the next few months... I just need the axles and either trucks or plates to turn a pair of Vans I was gifted into a pair of roller skates.

trystan830 05-10-2018 08:55 PM

oh that sounds awesome, den!

Den 05-10-2018 08:56 PM

I was going to turn my Chucks into skates, but then I remembered that I have a pair of shoes I hardly ever wear that would work just as well.

trystan830 05-10-2018 08:58 PM

i have a pair of inline skates, haven't skated in a while. oh, i also have quad skates too, which i haven't worn in a longer while. and i have ice skates. it's been a while for those too, but i want to go again sometime soon....

Den 05-10-2018 10:22 PM

I learned to skate on quads. the sibling learned inline and he was able to ice skate the one time we went with family. I fell, and I took one of my awesome cousins with me... poor guy got a bloody nose and I still feel bad about it.

trystan830 05-10-2018 10:51 PM

oops!

i learned on the quads, but i did pretty well my first time on ice skates. on the other hand, younger daughter learned to skate on ice for the first time skating. when we went roller skating after that, she had to use the inline skates - couldn't quite get the hang of the quads

Death by Mirrors 05-11-2018 02:22 AM

That's an awesome project, Den!

I learned to skate on ice, but when I tried roller skating, quads seemed much easier to me. Haven't been using either in quite a while, but I think I still have the equipment.

Den 05-11-2018 08:56 PM

I just need skate plates now. I've got wheels, the base shoes, and stops on the way... but the plates I want are EXPENSIVE. I want metal ones, because the nylon ones tend to flex with heavier skaters, which I happen to be... and I want my skates to last for at least two years of regular use...

EverAshwood 05-13-2018 07:49 PM

I found the cutest crochet pattern but something tells me it might be the project that'd make me go off the deep end lol

http://www.diyhowto.org/wp-content/u...ttern-11-2.jpg

Den 05-13-2018 08:18 PM

I'm working on this in rainbow colors...

EverAshwood 05-13-2018 08:52 PM

*heart eyes* oh, if I could knit...

Den 05-13-2018 09:50 PM

There're youtube tutorials and books out there...

EverAshwood 05-14-2018 11:53 AM

And yet I end up watching videos on loom kitting instead lmao
What is my life

Bwahahahaha! My plan to convert everyone to loom knitting is working!!

trystan830 05-16-2018 07:47 PM

*looks at my few looms i have*

move along, nothing to see here.....

Kaderin Triste 05-16-2018 10:11 PM

Haha, I swear, by the end of the summer, I'll probably have gotten like....5 people to at least try loom knitting! Well...maybe only 3 unless we count the 2 who have already started learning...

Den 05-17-2018 01:20 AM

I'm on the third chart of the pattern, and am on yellow yarn now :3

You definitely got me. That video you showed earlier looks reasonably easy for a beginner, she explains it very well there.

No idea if I will actually stick to loom knitting now that I have mastered the basics of crochet, but trying new stuff is always fun :p-cool:

Kaderin Triste 05-19-2018 07:59 PM

I would say that loom knitting would be a great thing to learn so there are more options to what you can make. It might be easier to make certain things with it than crochet, but crochet is generally more versatile to an extent and there are thousands more knit and crochet patterns than there are loom knitting. For super simple extra thick scarves, loom knitting is always handy. XD

Death by Mirrors 05-20-2018 11:16 AM

Yeah, more options are always nice. I do know people have managed to loom knit socks and stuff, so even with less patterns it's still versatile, but right now I can't actually say which yarn related craft I like best. They all have their individual advantages and individual limits. Felting is probably my least favorite of all wool things I tried so far.

Kaderin Triste 05-20-2018 02:47 PM

Socks can be pretty easy on looms. I've not yet made a pair of normal socks, but I have made a few toeless socks. (Basically just because the pattern seemed easy and I like my toes to be free. XD)

Ooooh. I haven't tried felting yet, but I would like to eventually.
One of mu favorite yarn things to do is to dye yarn. But I haven't bought any white or natural yarns in a while for it.

Death by Mirrors 05-20-2018 04:08 PM

I have never dyed my own yarn so far, nor have I tried to spin it. Mainly because I can't get the proper supplies and/or tools here, so those things I can actually get earn a higher priority spot on my "to try"-list.

Are toeless socks just long tubes or do they have a heel?
