I will not point fingers, but it happened.
Anyhow, I understand but I meant that the whole website is a game, as it is a form of entertainment. To fuel this entertainment, which may be having items or dressing up your avatar, we need Aurum and we got that from the games forum. It is logical that without the incentive many will not continue to post there.

Coda 10-10-2010 03:10 PM

Yes, it IS logical. That result is exactly the effect we wanted -- we wanted to get people out of the Forum Games section and into the other sections, because we were finding that the "20 latest threads" were being consistently full of games and a large number of users were never leaving that section, cutting down on views on everything else.

Argon 10-10-2010 03:11 PM

But how can you make sure that these users will not redirect their posting power to another forum and just lurk?

Coda 10-10-2010 03:13 PM

We can't be sure of that, but what we can be sure of is that the "recently updated threads" list won't be flooded with games, so people who are looking for a place to jump in and chat can find an active conversation instead of just a game.

Toriki 10-10-2010 03:46 PM

Just my own thought.

I don't see why we should be REWARD (with aurum) for having fun and killing time. I mean, the reason why we came up with games posting is because we have no conversation going on and just don't want to chat meaningful topics. So why should we receive aurum for not being productive (regardless of how silly the conversation might be, it is still conversation. Not a one-word game).

Personally, I prefer to receive no aurum at all for playing games in the Games forum. Because

1: You receive only max 50 with a HUGE text wall that made up of at least 100+ words, so why should you receive 20+ aurum for just ONE word? If you can get 20+ aurum for one word, shouldn't the amount extend on the others for 20+ aurum per word where you can receive 2000+ aurum per post? If that's the case, the economy will drop and whose fault is that laid on? Yes, the games.

2. Games is for entertaining and to kill time while your friends are all offline. So if you want to make aurum by posting, take it to some place where you can have conversation with more than just 1 sentence at most like the Hang Out forum. The "games" means it shouldn't be a "conversation". Anything convo relate is "conversation" in the "hang out and chat with friends".

Hmm, I posted in games because central square isn't as active. Hopefully it'll get super active soon so I can post more XD

Coda 10-10-2010 08:40 PM

If you talk... they will come.

Illusion 10-10-2010 08:55 PM

I still personally think the aurum amount in the game forum should be like 10 aurum per small worded post.

Gah.. Its a pain in a butt to find conversation around here when everyone rather PM or Talk in profiles.. x.x

Demonskid 10-10-2010 08:56 PM

The Fox Hole, The Brothel, The Captians Cabin, Jibber Jabber, and a lot of threads have lots of traffic and conversation o.O well maybe not the fox hole ^^,

Duchess 10-10-2010 10:43 PM

I'd join any conversation....as long as it's not about Pokemon, or anime or anything I can't relate too. :S

Short version: We can't stop you from playing games, but we really would rather you participate in productive conversations, so we're gonna reward you more for that.

okay, understands and respects the decision
thanks for clearing this up

I can understand the nerf of aurum granting in the games forum (though I am of the opinion if you want to encourage people to post elsewhere you should just say so instead of taking slick measures to force people to do it...), but if marketplace gets nerfed I'll be pissed. =/

Lolz, but the exchange is usually my home. I just don't think it's fair to nerf a place like that...I mean, if you're gonna nerf the market you might as well nerf hangouts too...and then imagine all the bitching that'd never end. D;

But uhm, link me. Cause like, I need another base anyhow. XD
