Hero 11-30-2015 01:29 PM

I bet you have tons of other helpful tips too o:
I'm relatively new to it all
Is there anything you enjoy making the most?

Horror Babe 12-01-2015 12:42 PM

Morning everyone

Hero 12-01-2015 02:49 PM

Good morn-..wait..it's the afternoon for me
Hello Titanic!

Glitch 12-01-2015 03:39 PM

good morning, although its 11:39 here. . . XD i just got up!!

Nari 12-01-2015 03:43 PM

+rolls in like a badass all action movie style, then sitters to corner+ Ah ha! An empty spot! +pulls sharpie from bag and uncaps it+

Glitch 12-01-2015 04:03 PM

i am starting to get over my cold!!! :DDDDDDD

I like sharpies.

Nari 12-01-2015 04:09 PM

I dunno what I've got, if I have anything serious. I woke up with a fever this morning, and a migraine. So I called in to work.

Glitch 12-01-2015 04:10 PM

ya probably the flu. I also have a migraine but it's from coughing all night while I was asleep. XP

Horror Babe 12-01-2015 04:12 PM

Oh hey there Hero!

Hi Glitch and Nari!
How're you?

Glitch 12-01-2015 04:13 PM

i'm feeling better than yesterday!! :D

Nari 12-01-2015 04:15 PM

Ick! I really don't want the flu. My job requires me to go up to other people's desks and answer their questions, and take supervisor calls, and give out codes. It's a lot of up and down. I can't get the flu. That'll totally throw me off my game.

Horror Babe 12-01-2015 04:17 PM

Glitch, what was wrong yesterday??

Glitch 12-01-2015 04:29 PM

oh i've had a cold/flu type thing. ALl congested and tons of coughing blehhh

Nari 12-01-2015 04:29 PM

Glitch// Yay! That's good. I'm glad you're feeling better. :3

Titanic// I feel like poo, and have a fever. So I stayed home from work.

Horror Babe 12-01-2015 04:46 PM

Glitch and Nari.
Eww.

I have a sore throat.
Had a cough last night.

So im getting sick.

Glitch 12-01-2015 04:53 PM

Well let's think of fun things to do so you don't have to dwell on how you feel!

Nari 12-01-2015 04:53 PM

Titanic// Yeah. Must be that time of year. The weather is getting colder, and not as enjoyable, but people are still being herp-derps and going outside without jackets, and then they get sick, and then they get everyone else around them sick as well. Bleeeeeeh.

Glitch// We could.....um.....I got nuthin'.

Glitch 12-01-2015 04:59 PM

I'm sorry for spreading my germs around here guys.

Nari 12-01-2015 05:11 PM

Glitch// I'd rather have your germs than some other people's. +shivers+ some people are just nasty.

Like.....wait....nevermind. +hovers in the corner wrapped in a blanket and doodles on the walls+

Glitch 12-01-2015 05:13 PM

At least make your doodles pretty <3 I can put a frame around them when you're done <3

Nari 12-01-2015 05:30 PM

I dunno really any other way to do it. It's a compulsion.

There's people around my apartment making loud noises. It's painful.

Glitch 12-01-2015 05:44 PM

D: I used to live in this little cement block apartment. I could hear the mailman and the garbage man and everybody outside like they were standing in my room xD

Nari 12-01-2015 05:55 PM

Ick. I would have hated that. I lived in a building that was converted into 4 apartments, and every one of the rooms were creaky.

Now I live in a complex that has been going through some renovations, to keep up with the area, because where I live, if the complex doesn't look nice, it gets run out of business. Especially since this is like an entire area of various apartment complexes.

Glitch 12-01-2015 05:59 PM

oh man. My current apartment is a duplex and it's monthly rather than signing a real lease. Which means they upped my rent this month, jerks.

But it's set behind some other houses so I feel like I am in somebodies back yard, and the fence is so low you can see in other people's houses and stuff xD

Nari 12-01-2015 06:35 PM

The other apartment was a monthly lease. And the landlord was a slum lord, so he did things without telling us. So my rent went up one month, and then the next month I got served a notice because I defaulted. I was so pissed. But I couldn't afford the new rent. This one is a year lease, and the rent is locked in, and I can redo the lease at the end to lock in this same price again.

I feel like I'm in aN actual community this time. Like there's a dog park, a pool, a fitness center, laundry facilities-which I have yet to find-a grilling area....it's pretty nice.

Glitch 12-01-2015 06:39 PM

ah I would like that. But I have animals so I try to find little out of the way places with backyards XD

Nari 12-01-2015 06:49 PM

Yeah. I only have goldfish and snails, so no backyard needed. I van have a dog, but I've never had one in an apartment before, so I don't know how they would handle it. Plus, I'm usually gone over twelve hours a day, so that's another thing.

Glitch 12-01-2015 06:53 PM

Ah ya you would need to be home. . . hehe

Mine just sleeps all the time anyway though!

man your art is so good y.y

Nari 12-01-2015 07:00 PM

Yeah. Goldfish and snails tend to do their own thing. I only need to feed them, and then they pretty much take care of themselves.

Bawwwww....thank you. It's not for lack of trying, trust me.

Glitch 12-01-2015 07:08 PM

I always kill fish. I don't know what my problem is. I can't keep them alive longer than a week D:

Nari 12-01-2015 07:17 PM

LOL I know I said that they pretty much take care of themselves, but it's actually pretty difficult to get started with fish. In all honesty, before you even get fish, you should know about the Nitrogen Cycle, and the importance of it for the health and safety if the fish. In simple terms, it's the four stages that water goes through to remove a ammonia from the water. Ammonia is like cyanide to fish. I'm guessing you did the usual, "grab a fish tank, put decorations in it, put tap water into the tank, get a fish from the pet store, plop ot right in there as soon as you get it home, and then feed the guy," routine?

Glitch 12-01-2015 07:32 PM

i got the bottled water, let the fish float around in it before setting it free into it's new life, that one lived a week. So i got another one, the pet store gave me some drops to put in the water so I tried that route, got another fish, it lived 3 days. I tried again sat up with the little guy all night, went out for breakfast and came home it was dead.

xD

Nari 12-01-2015 07:59 PM

Kay. If you ever decide to get fish again, try this. Get the tank a month or so before you get the fish. While you do that, get some ammonia. It should be a liquid form. That'll start off the cycle. You'll also want to get a testing kit. Set up the tank, fill it up, and then put some of the ammonia in the water. Don't get a fish yet. Do daily water changes and testing to see where you're at. You'll know that it's starting to work when you start seeing Nitrites. Nitrites are the waste from beneficial bacteria in the filter when absorbing ammonia. After a week or so, the Nitrite levels will start to rise and the ammonia levels will start to go down. Then, eventually, you will start to see Nitrates, which is the final stage in the Nitrogen Cycle. At some point, the ammonia will go down to 0, and the nitrites will go down to 0. Then it is safe for your fish. Do one final water change. Along the way, pick up some water conditioner. Seachem Prime is brilliant. The purpose of the water cinditioner is to neutralize the harsh metals and chlorine that is often found in Tap water. Let it sit for 24 hours with a littlE bit of ammonia in it, and then, you can get your fish.

When you bring the fish home, keep the lights off in the tank, and then float the bag in the water for 20 minutes. After those 20 minutes are up, then open the bag and if it is a small fish, carefully collect it in a net, and deposit it into the tank water. Don't dump the water from the bag into the tank. Also, don't feed it that first couple of days. Fish can go a while without eating. And leave the tank light off. It helps keep their stress down. And then, I would test the water once a day for a couple of weeks and do 80% water changes every other day. After that, you should only have to test and change the water once a week.

It seems like a bit of a hassle at first, but I've had both of my fish for over a year, they're over twice their body length and they are super healthy.

Glitch 12-01-2015 08:06 PM

i'll probably wait awhile to try, i was pretty heartbroken.

My mom even tried to raise fancygoldfish and while htey lived for awhile they all slowly died. one of them because it got it's eyeball stuck in the filter. That was horrifying.

Salone 12-01-2015 08:11 PM

That...does sound horrifying.

I only ever really did betas, because I was in a small town and betas were the only thing that survived Wal Mart's horrifying fish practices. Even then, they went through some unfortunate events.

During the ice storms of 2000 (Oh my god I sound old), our power was out for weeks. We lived very far out in the country, so we were low priority. Everything was all electric, so no heat save for firewood. During this time, our poor betas were frozen in their bowls. I was heartbroken.

Once the power came back on, we put put them on the stove and thawed them so we could bury them. Didn't actually need to.

Little bastards lived for 3 more years.

Nari 12-01-2015 08:14 PM

Glitch// Yeah. I've lost fish. I know how it is. Mine are my babies.I wept when I lost one of the last January. It's what I get for allowing him to storm the castle until he got too big for it.

I'm actually raising two fancy goldfish right now!
They're the lightS of my life. I plan to keep them alive for their full lifespan. They can live over 20 years.

Salone// Bettas are tough little bastards! They can go for months without eating, don't need the water to be disturbed regularly because they can breathe air if needed in short bursts, and they kill each other. I much prefer goldfish.

Glitch 12-01-2015 08:20 PM

my mom bought a ton of them, had them shipped over from japan. And she killed all of them, oh it was horrible.

Nari 12-01-2015 08:24 PM

I only have two because I only have a 40 gallon aquarium. Goldfish, ALL goldfish, need a lot of space.

Those poor babies.

I rescued Skađi from Petco. She was in an aquarium with about 20 goldfish, and it wasuch too small. And Thor is from Petsmart. Their tanks are cleaner, but still not large enough.

Glitch 12-01-2015 08:51 PM

my mom bought 5 55 gallon tanks XD it was insane.

Nari 12-01-2015 09:11 PM

The hell? That's a tad crazy.
