Level 40 is the cap but Level 30 and up you need Half a million experience to level up which is crazy insane

Which is, I'm sure, the point. If the cap were easy to reach it would defeat the purpose, but if there wasn't a cap then there would always be an unfair power imbalance.

^This. It's not that uncommon in other games that level up. I mean, at my leisurely pace (I am not letting it consume my life), I could reach that in a year.

Also got a lot of doubles, so I sold those that had low CP. Taught a dad and his kids a little about the game. :3

That's exactly what you're supposed to do with doubles -- that's how you get the candy needed to level up and evolve them.

I made a new friend yesterday, we were out all day. Been out today as well, just taking a small break now, then it's back downtown and camp between two Pokéstops, put up lures.. Then go around and start over, maybe claim some gyms. :3 I am Team Mystic, what about you guys? :D Found any rarer Pokémon?
From eggs, I've gotten; Sandshrew, Charmander, Magmar, Magnemite and 2 Weedle.
Rarer, (who I think is rarer) I've caught: Lapras, Onix, Jigglypuff, Rhyhorn, Jynx, Tangela, Mankey.

Congrats! My first Eevee to evolve was a Vaporeon, too, although I got super lucky and found a wild Jolteon.

I just wake up around 5 am, walk for two hours on my own, and then just leave the thing on while I walk to class and back.
Rest of the day, I ignore it. I get to learn about "real pokemon!"

I'm fairly certain that Gen 2 is nothing more than a rumor. It's way too soon for them to be messing with game balance like that. I KNOW they intend to get trading and PvP running (they said so in an interview), so that's probably the next priority after bugfixes.

So I finally caved and installed this game on my phone. Its hella funny that manager is very psyched to play and even made stickers for the staff that were on his team, and that one of my coworkers always complains that her pokemon run away.

And yet all I do is sit in a park and people watch and I am level 15. My phone is so glitchy and cheap, and overheats, that I happen to reload and boom there's a 700 cp magmar magically? idk these things happen. Its really fun to watch the amount of people playing it in droves.

I think thats the fun part for me. Watching people in their business suits walking around pretending to text, until you see their fingers do the flick and they exclaim how excited they are to catch a bulbasaur.

Unless I'm at my university, no one around me plays. (university is about 20-25 miles from home)

Yeah, adding more content BEFORE the server load issues are resolved will just make matters worse by increasing the amount of load ON them.

Sadly, I suspect that the server issues are a matter of "needs a lot more money for more hardware because the code is already solid."

I doubt that manpower is the issue. Niantic is a Google spinoff, and having worked for Google (in fact, in the same building as Niantic for a while) I'm reasonably certain that it's run like a Google team. 20-30 people is actually quite a lot when you consider that they only have two projects and they don't have to have employees to handle things like marketing (Nintendo does that for Go and they don't advertise Ingress except for the occasional event) or system administration (they use Google App Engine so the ugly parts are taken care of for them).

As a developer, if I got to work with 30 people on a single team I'd be feeling a little overwhelmed by there being TOO many people involved. There's a book called "The Mythical Man-Month" that talks about how throwing more developers at a late project only makes it later -- software development can only be split up so far before you start losing efficiency by having to coordinate too many potentially-conflicting sources of input.

To be completely honest, Pokemon Go is actually a RIDICULOUSLY simple game, code-wise. Since release, no one has ever seen a bug in the actual core mechanics. The issues have all been with the interface or the network, with two known exceptions (the rangefinder "bug" that was actually intentionally put in there to try to reduce some of the server load, and the bug that sometimes gets expiration times backwards leaving despawned Pokemon visible in the radar). 5-10 people on the game client, if you've got a couple iOS-specific specialists and a couple Android-specific specialists, and 4-6 people on the server intuitively feels like about the right level of stuff now that the game is functionally complete.

They even have the advantage that they don't even need artists; I imagine The Pokemon Company gave them everything they needed in advance.

I got some cool Pokemon while I was down at the beach, loads of Magikarp (I'm at 250 ish candies now) and for some reason they had Growlithe…. which was awesome.

Bluestacks doesn't provide the GPS spoofing thing on its own, to my knowledge; that's probably an add-on you have to install separately.

Note that you've got a really good chance of getting banned for using GPS spoofing.
