So proud of myself. I have finished 2 books this month. Only have to read or finish reading 6 more by the end if June to be back on pace! XD
|
ooh that's awesome, Kaderin!
|
Lol. Hopefully that was just to the act of finishing books and not my being super far behind on my reading list...
XD But yeah, it feels good to be doing some reading. |
hehehe
i love reading |
I generally do too. Except when depression issues make me lose interest in everything. It can be so hard to get into a book when that's going on. BUT! I will hopefully finish another book by the end of the week or possibly early next week. Just over halfway through Jane Eyre. It's been tough for me to get into really. And also has been kind of predictable, in my opinion, which makes it even more difficult for me to get into.
|
well, yes, losing interest in things isn't good.... and neither is not being able to get into the story.
but - good luck! |
I think part of it is that I generally prefer sci-fi/fantasy for a genre, so the more mild themes and plot of a lot of the "classics" tends to just drag on for me.
|
ah, that makes sense
|
why deos life have to be slow and steady when it shot out >C< ive had little time for reading and that makesme sad XDX
|
what is it about rain that makes people want to curl up and read?
|
i don't know, but i always like to curl up and read XD
|
i finished with the current series i was reading - Amanda Pepper series. now i'm to get caught up with Warriors. then i think Incarnations of Immortality (i have 2 1/2 books left)

I'm bad, I haven't started reading my book yet, but I have another book to review this month and it's super short so it's not like it will take more than a few minutes. I was going to try and get more progress in Vas before I pick up another new one from my shelf, since I'm getting into my read a bunch at once habit, which I was hoping to avoid.
I'm cleaning my shelves out now, and actually going to sell some of my books that I've hung onto and never read, or they're on the stack to read and see if I want to actually keep them. This covers some books left over from uni that I only half finished or didn't read at all. |
I'm also bad. I haven't read much the last couple of weeks. I haven't actually done much of anything really. Just work, sleep, repeat. Time to pack a book in my messenger bag again!

It hasn't been easy. There are moments/chapters where it gets interesting, then even larger sections that are so droll that it's almost unbearable to read. But it's kind of interesting to be able to see how time has effected writing styles and the evolution of genres.
|
There's a related book written by a more modern writer that deals with the backstory of another character. Won't spoil though, as I'm not sure who you've met yet.
|
If I recall, Jane and Mr. Rochester are pretty much about to be married. I think that's around where I left off.
|
I've been slowly reading the book Good Omens. It's pretty amusing!
|
Ugh. Have managed to start 3 new books, but haven't made very much progress in the ones that have been in progress since earlier in the year. XP
My goal is to at least have Jane Eyre finished within the next 2 weeks. |
i've started a book, but it's slow going, because it's my own book. i seem to be weird that way...
|
I wouldn't say that's weird. When a book is your, as opposed to borrowing it or checking it out of a library, there's no deadline and no pressure to finish it quickly. You can take your time and that makes it easier to go more slowly.
|
hmm, this is very true, Kaderin.
|
I was making good progress on a long and tedious book that I kept renewing, until I finally bought my own copy. Haven't touched it since.
|
Woo thanks to a short book/play, I have finished reading 1/4 of my goal quantity of books!
XD But hopefully will have 2 or 3 others done soon also. |
I technically have a book for June but I feel silly since it's only a handful of pages. Reading "A Boy Called Bat" now and it's super cute. One of those kids books, boy meets baby animal, it is cute, likes animal, etc. It's interesting since the main character is autistic and he's narrating the story, so it comes off as his normal approach to the world.
I seem to be reading more kids books of late. I'll call it reader's advisory material. ;) |
Huh, that actually sounds pretty interesting.
Finished another book. Only, what, 7 more to go this month if I want to get caught up? |
i'm passed the 1/2 way mark on my current book - For Love of Evil. after that i think i'll finish the series with And Eternity, and see what's on my reading list that my library has - i have a two-book YA series from P.C. Cast (Moon Chosen and Sun Warrior). it got mixed reviews, but i'll give at least the first one a read.
|
Okay, Bat was very cute. Not an active book, but cute.
Now for a complete about face, My Friend Dahmer! The graphic novel. Still working on The Princess Diarist. I found when my mind became more active again after managing to de-stress, the book was just too light feeling. It's at my mom's right now. I'll finish it before year out so that I have at least one other book read from my shelf. |
nothing wrong with cute! i reead "a Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo" --- the book from Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. it was CUTE! =D
have fun with your current reads =) |
finally getting back into my reading list XD life has been hectic. to busy to even read wiht how tierd i've been at the end of the days XP
|
Can totally understand that.
Also, I have surprisingly finished 3 books so far this month! Granted they have mostly been fairly short and easy reads. Or have been close to the end. I should really start taking a book everywhere I go again. I don't have much time to read usually, but maybe on my breaks on the days I work Joann. It's only 15 min, but that's better than nothing. |
Turns out the books I'm working on reviewing have a deadline sooner than I thought, so I'm only going to get the two done. Alas!
Finished My Friend Dahmer (graphic novel, got through it pretty quickly) and am reading The Skeleton Tree right now, an adventure novel with two boys who don't like each other shipwrecked on the Alaskan coast. It's another local author and having recently visited Alaska it's cool to read about some of the stuff, like the items that wash ashore from Japan. Making up for my skimpy reading in June. ;). Need to tackle more shelf books though, maybe crack open another Russian novel. |
..... The only reading I've been really doing lately is manga reading. ;_; But it's something, I guess...
I do want to read some books I've had, though! I keep meaning to. :x |
Right now my books are all sprawled on my bed while I sort my bookshelf. I've decided to re-arrange things.
And now that I'm trying to send in my review notes my school email isn't working! Bah! Also going to start whittling my collection down to the stuff I want to keep and what I can pass on or sell. Yay, money, but alas, books. |
Blah. Need to get onto my other book review so my record doesn't falter. I'm going to finish one of these books before the end of the month! Got a list of 20 books to review (as many as I felt like) and only made it through one and a half because of how obnoxious some were to get.
|
Lol, if I start 3 more books, my list will be full and I'll just have to finish them all...
XD What is wrong with me that I am uninterested in finishing books? |
Still ekeing my way through The Skeleton Tree. I like it, but the heat here is not helping me get it finished, even if it is set in Alaska. Haven't actually started Chase yet, though I think I already put it in. Hopefully it will read faster. I'd like to have it done by the end of the month.
|
my current book is a nice big one - Navigators of Dune. it's well over 500 pages.
