ha! maybe the other cat but this one is a potato with legs XD

it could also be that is is math which is the darkest of magics

mdom 10-01-2019 10:26 AM

those are the best cats

Stabbsworth 10-01-2019 10:26 AM

i don't do math. instead, i code things to do math for me.

mdom 10-01-2019 11:06 AM

That actually sounds more difficult than math itself

Death by Mirrors 10-01-2019 05:23 PM

But also more fun. And it reminds me of the good old days with my necromancer in GW. I did not kill enemies, I just cursed them and watched them kill themselves. Smiling.

Burnt Rice 10-01-2019 07:42 PM

Coding, more fun? It's on the same level as math for me~ A lot of self doubt, pain, and questioning life choices.
So.... pretty fun I guess.

Espy 10-01-2019 08:12 PM

I... like messing around with differential equations.

Mekatra 10-01-2019 08:28 PM

For the first time in my life I am learning not to be scared of maths. It is all about learning the rules and having rules to keep me safe within the confines of the number prison is helping me not panic.

With that being said, both coding and maths are friggin difficult.

Espy 10-01-2019 08:44 PM

I like calculus-based stuff.

...Can’t stand statistics, though.

Mekatra 10-01-2019 08:49 PM

I'm struggling with algebra. I am incredibly thankful that my degree track doesn't have any higher maths on it.

Espy 10-01-2019 10:41 PM

Mhhh. Meanwhile, I’m struggling w matrices.

mdom 10-01-2019 11:12 PM

Damn matrices is what I hated the most in high school
really glad I didn't have to score high in math to pass for college

Death by Mirrors 10-02-2019 06:21 AM

In my opinion both coding and math is only difficult if you never had it properly explained to you. Back in high school we had a math teacher who barely explained anything. He just wrote tons of equations on the blackboard and expected us to somehow follow along -.-"
I was smart enough to manage most times, but I definitely get how others then start to believe they're too dumb for maths.

Stabbsworth 10-02-2019 10:35 AM

there's also dyscalculia. something like that, fuck if i know how to spell shit.

i actually find coding much more fun than doing math, mostly because i can easily understand the concept of coding.

Death by Mirrors 10-02-2019 04:16 PM

Fine, but that's like 5% of people. The majority would grasp the concept. Which is of course different from whether or not a person actually likes math in the end.

Espy 10-02-2019 05:08 PM

I’m not terrible at learning new languages, which means I shouldn’t be terrible at coding, but I think a lot of that’s just... I started coding in 11th (?) grade, and supposedly you didn’t need prior experience bc it was a beginner class. Unfortunately, most people there legit knew what they were doing, and it was really demotivating, and I started falling behind.

Really struggled w that course, and it made me scared of programming. Still am to a degree.

Death by Mirrors 10-02-2019 05:36 PM

Our own IT class was pretty much our teacher sat on the front desk reading the newspaper while everyone else browsed the internet.

Espy 10-02-2019 06:24 PM

That sounds like an utter waste of money.

Death by Mirrors 10-02-2019 08:42 PM

Yeah, it was. To be honest I didn't complain about a free hour to goof around online back then... yet it would've been cool if he actually, ya know, taught us computer stuff.

mdom 10-02-2019 10:19 PM

when I was a child we had a computer class that was basically 'how to use windows 95'
because it was 1995. Good times.

Death by Mirrors 10-03-2019 05:46 AM

I had Windows 95 figured out on my own soon enough - but I'll never forget how I stared at the computer for the first time when it looked so beeping different from 3.1
Then grandpa was actually the one who found out how to start a game. I think I spent a whole week doing nothing but Solitaire and Space Cadet on our new PC.

Espy 10-03-2019 05:51 AM

...I miss Space Cadet and Minesweeper.

Death by Mirrors 10-03-2019 05:54 AM

They took Minesweeper out? o.o
*still has it here on Windows... uhwhat'sitagain... 7*

Burnt Rice 10-03-2019 03:47 PM

Yeah they did Death. Just like Nokia took out snake from their phones.

Death by Mirrors 10-03-2019 04:34 PM

And call that progress. Why, world? WHY???

Burnt Rice 10-03-2019 04:41 PM

Yeah dude. We got to progress to our ends somehow. Removing minesweeper and snake is just one of the many tiny steps we got to take for the end to come. (8

mdom 10-03-2019 05:12 PM

they remove minesweeper and add 39048324892 types of solitaire u.u

littl3chocobo 10-03-2019 05:45 PM

that is not nearly enough types of solitaire

Merskelly Metalien 10-03-2019 09:33 PM

o-o *ahem*….

I was learning Basic in 1984/85. On a Texas Instruments machine. With a cassette tape for data storage.

Pretty sure we're off this topic now, but I'm late to the party so here:

You mean the topic is now DAD JOKES? ^__^
