((Oh course, my pleasure ^^ ))
Joey watched with a smile as Flutter made her way over to the reception desk. He winced as she tripped a little and made a motion to go after her and help her. She seemed so helpless in his mind, but he she had said she would do it herself so... Joey smiled, and once she was safely inside, he turned and left. *** Olivia walked through the unfamiliar doors of the auditorium. It was a huge room that carried sound well and was adorned mainly in the color gold with splashes of white and black. She let out a breath, and could swear she heard it echo. How nerve racking. Suddenly a hand came down on her shoulder and she was pulled into a rough half-hug. She looked up to see Joey's face grinning down at her. She grinned in return. "Joey!" She said, pleased to see a familiar face among the plentiful sea of drama students. "Olive! Splendid!" He practicably cooed. He pulled a long measuring tape out of his pocket. "Let's begin!" ((I didn't know if Saya was with her, so I left it open for whatever you would want to do)) |
((Eh. He won't be so it makes sense.))
He'd gone searching for the hotel during their last period which had been a free period for him, and thus was slow to get to practice. Rushing in, he let out a pant and a sigh of relief, which echoed it seemed through the elaborate room. "Jeez...This is even bigger then the lord's mansion in the village. I've never seen such a huge and fancy room..." "Glad you could make it," Peter called, waving hello. "I'm helping out with measurements. Mind if I take yours?" "Sure. Just tell me what to do." The two worked for a bit, before Peter nodded. "Got it. Now I'll go write it down. I'm good at memorizing things so I have it all memorized. You can go find a script to work with for now if you want. "Thanks. I'll go find Oliver then." He began to walk, seeing his friend somewhere nearby. "Olive! Did you finish measuring yet?" He smiled easily. "Peter took mine as soon as I got in here. When you're ready let's do some looking over the script okay?" |
Olivia nodded her consent and Joey began taking her measurements. He skillfully wrapped the measuring tape around the key areas of the body, the hips, chest, and shoulders. He finished that and was measuring her height when Saya showed up.
Joey waved at him in acknowledgement, but was concentrated on Olivia. She herself turned as much as Joey would allow and smiled at Saya. "Yeah, just one more thing and I'm done." She turned back to where Joey had originally positioned her, but stumbled, her feet losing their footing. She felt the tug of the measuring tape around her as she sensed Joey attempting to use it to keep her standing. Instead it brought him down with her. Olivia squeezed her eyes shut and felt a thump resound through her as she hit the, luckily, carpeted floor. Opening her eyes she peered into the green orbs that hovered above her by just barely an inch. Letting out a shaky breath, she could see the expression on Joey's face, shocked and... something else she couldn't recognize. His pupils seemed to grow, darkening his eyes in a strange way. His expression seemed confused as if something was happening that he couldn't quite make sense of. It was at that point that Olivia realized exactly how they were positioned. Joey's forearms were directly by her head, supporting most of his weight. His legs had, in attempt not to crush her no doubt, spread apart so they were positioned on either side of her. It was incredibly awkward on many levels. Suddenly, Joey blinked and the confusion was gone from his face. A grin replaced it. "Well," He began with his usual gusto , "You come here often?" He asked with a grin. I laughed whooshed out of Olivia. "No Joey, I don't lay in the middle of this floor often." He laughed and pulled himself up, holding out a hand for her, that she took, and helped her up. What had just happened had seemed to last a lifetime for Olivia, but it had only been a few seconds. |
"You guys alright? That was pretty clumsy... If the carpet weren't here you'd likely have bad bruises- you might still have 'em, but they won't be as bad. This carpet's pretty thick, right?" He grinned after a sigh of relief escaped him. He'd honestly been frightened by the fall- but was relieved to find them safe and basically easy. "Good thing Joey kept himself propped up though or he'd crush ya, huh, Olive?"
"Yeah. Too much weight on a person's back is bad for them," Peter walked behind him, causing him to jump. "Don't sneak around like that Pete!" He grumbled, shaking his head. "You scared the hyenas out of me." "Hyenas?" "What? I don't know what else to use. It's a common expression in my household...Though hyenas are good to scare away, they're pretty hard to..." |
Olivia brushed hair from her face and did a mental run down of her body. Her head ached a little, but other than that she felt completely fine. She had been lucky. Snapping out of her thoughts she glanced back at Joey to see if he was fine. As she did so she felt a hand go down on her shoulder.
"I'm fine." Joey said with a smile, giving her shoulder a friendly squeeze. "How bout you Olly? You got the worst of it." Underneath his ever constant tone of enthusiasm Olivia could hear concern. She smiled at him reassuringly. "I'm great." "Good, ah here you two, your lines." Joey said, handing them two scripts from a nearby table. "Now practice. A lot. Practice until you believe you are the character." He said with a grin. |
"Shouldn't be too hard," Sayaku replied with a grin as response, taking the script into his hands. "Wanna work together, Oliver? It'd be easier to have a partner, don't you think? Oh, but maybe we should focus on the lines in the script first, then the actions... It's better to work on one thing and then the other..."
|
Olivia smiled, happy at the thought of working with Saya. "Yeah. We only have two lines each, should be easy to memorize. Do you wanna work here or go back to our room?" Oddly enough, she wanted go back to their room and practice. She had come to enjoy the alone time they got very much and felt like squeezing out every bit she could. Alone time was not a good thing in her situation. Alone time led to her saying strange things most boys would never say and to compromising situation. Yet she enjoyed it.
((sorry if this post sounds funny. I just woke up from a very unplanned nap and my brain a little fuzzy)) |
((It happens. Just be careful when you nap not to wake up at a bad point in the sleep cycle hm? :3))
"It's sorta crowded in here, ain't it? If I had to choose, I'd say our own room would make it easier to hear ourselves and not deal with the huge crowd. Don't wanna get in the way or have someone get in our way as we work, right?" |
"I agree. C'mon" She said with a smiled and began to leave. "You two behave yourselves. Remember, safe se-" Joey began with a wicked grin until some student thought enough to cover his mouth so he wouldn't say something rather embarrassing in an echoing room. Olivia raised her eyebrows and looked at Saya. A small chuckle escaped her lips and she motioned with her head for Saya to come with her.
|
"Uh-huh. Yeah, we'll remember that, Joey. We really need to." He laughed at it before running ahead, smiling over to Oliver. "C'mon, I'll race ya to the room. Energy is important so we should boost it with some exercise!"
|
Olivia grinned, her eyes lighting at the challenge. "Oh, your on farm boy." Then she ran, not giving Saya a warning. He hadn't said anything about it needing to be a fair race. She pushed her muscles, relishing the chance the try and beat Saya. Not that she would, she was sure, considering she had never worked a day of hard labor in her life. She knew Saya's muscles would be much better conditioned.
((I agree that Saya would most likely win :) ))) |
((Eh, probably. His sister's slow as a slug, but he is pretty fast thanks to having to chase the livestock as a kid ;D))
"Don't think you'll get by that easily," Sayaku called out with a laugh. He started to speed up from behind his friend, pacing himself without hiding his natural speed. Once at the door, he put a hand on it, only panting slightly- he couldn't help it, since it wasn't quite as short a distance as he'd thought it would be. "Made it." |
Olivia came up behind him, seeing he had already made it to the door. She grabbed the door handle herself, her hand overlapping his. She was panting and laughed all at the same time, which didn't help breathing. "I think... you cheated... cause... you've had... years of farm work... and I haven't.. so I win by default." She told him in between pants, leaning against the wall, forgetting her hand that was still on his.
|
He laughed a bit at that. "Hey, you could've conditioned on your own without the farm work you know. Regular exercise is plenty to keep the body going enough to be able to run that way. Chasing a goat and running for the sake of keeping yourself healthy don't change the benefits that much. Well, except the possibility of getting rammed by an actual ram."
|
She laughed and leaned her head back against the wall. "Alright, alright, but either way your stronger than me. And you know what that means? You have to carry me inside." She was joking of course, but a part of her was thrilled at the thought of Saya carrying her. It was a part of her that she was constantly having to beat down anymore.
|
Sayaku shrugged it off, opening the door and tugging on his friend's hand, squatting slightly so he was low enough to be boarded. "C'mon, then. Piggyback should work, right?"
|
Olivia's face turned scarlet. She hadn't expected this. A laugh and funny retort, that's what she had expected. Not a piggyback ride. She was dumbfounded for a split second, but brushed it off, and got on Saya's back. It felt as if an electrical current was flowing through her from Saya. She felt suddenly tiny compared to him with the feel of his masculine form beneath her. Her heart did a strange flip.
Raising her hand she pointed inside their room. "Giddy-up horsey." She said with a laugh and a surprising amount of confidence for how she felt. Then a thought struck her. Was she flirting with him? Was that even possible, considering Saya saw her as a guy? Wouldn't he be weirded out if she was? She reassured herself with that last thought. Yes, he would say something if he thought anything were off about how she was acting. |
"It's a piggy-back, not a horse-back. Shouldn't I be called a boar or something along those lines?" He laughed it off- considering he was from a farm, the idea of farm animals didn't come off to him as a way of flirting. That, and he was used to giving piggy back rides to his sister. "But yeah, we'll go in now." He walked through the door, carrying his friend carefully and putting him onto the lower bunk before heading back to the door to close it.
"That brings back memories. When we were kids, my sister couldn't walk on her own a lot of the time so when I was around I'd give her a ride when she was struggling. Even if it was going outside, since she'd panic if there was a car involved." His laughter continued as he took a seat next to his friend. "Anyway, shall we see our lines?" |
Olivia laughed. A grin formed on her face and she looked at Saya. "Ever the chivalrous big brother." She said with a shake of her head. It seemed to her that Saya was one of the true gentlemen left and she wondered what kind of girl could ever be as mean to him as the ones from his past. It just seemed wrong. "Here you go." She said and handed him his script.
|
Taking his script, he nodded and folded his legs under one another, crossing them in what seemed a natural pose for him. Opening the script, he began to search for his lines, baffled. "Uh...It says here there are multiple servant boys, doesn't it? Or is it a continuation? I'm sorta confused now..."
|
Olivia leaned over to look at Saya's script. "There should be something distinguishing you from the rest of he servant, considering who you serve..." She trailed off as her eyes scanned the page. "Ah, there." She lifted her hand and placed a finger at his part. She looked up as she did so and realized how far she had leaned over and how close Saya's face was. His body heat was all around her and for a moment it almost seemed to stun her. She looked down as naturally as she could, as if she had just meant to glance at his face. She pulled away in a natural manner also, as if she hadn't even had to think about it. Then she pulled out her own script and searched for her part. "Okay, there I am." She said with a smile.
|
((Can you tell me what their scene is about per chance? So I know what to say? xD Sorry there's nothing here yet. Had to ask first ;-; ))
|
((no problem, um, I'm thinking they should be discussing the trial their Mistress is going through, you know how it's such a shame and all, and maybe they could have another scene after that, when their mistress dies, you know being all sad))
|
((Sounds good to me!))
Trying to adjust his voice slightly to have the proper hint of a servant's natural concern for a master, he began to speak from the script. "I can't help but wonder if there really isn't a thing we can do for the mistress. It's so painful for her!" |
Olivia takes a deep breath and then attempts to become one with her character. She blocks all else out except what she must say and what she must feel. Her face grows sad, as if she two feels sorrow for her mistresses situation. "There is no stopping her pain, you know it as well as I. The best thing we can do is keep silent. If she and Sir Knight are found out then there will be much more pain, I can guarantee it." Her voice grows hushed and serious at the last line and she stares intently at Saya, though she see's a servant boy in his place.
|
Internally, Sayaku fought a chuckle at how in tune with the character Olivia was- at this point, he wasn't quite as into it. "There must be a way we can help push them along towards happiness," He whispered slightly in return, knowing to do so from the script. "Mustn't there?"
|
Olivia closed her eyes for a quick moment and opened them slowly. "If the Prince chooses her... there will be no happiness." Her eyes tighten, as if thinking of an awful truth. Then she sees it is the end of her script and the character she became seems to vanish and her expression clears as she stares up at Saya.
((Sorry if you wanted to keep going with the script. I just figured it would be really short since they are minor characters. I can re-do it if you want to add more)) |
"Jeez. I thought for a minute you left or something, Olive." Sayaku laughed, already having been mostly out of character besides his voice. "I think Joey should've put you in a bigger role. I don't care if he sees you as a maid, the way you act seems like it'd fit a bigger one then this."
((S'okay xD)) |
Olivia laughed. "No, no, no" She said quickly shaking her head. "In front of all those people I'll be lucky to get these few lines out." The thought of performing was scary enough without having it be an important role. As it was, even if she messed up her lines the show could continue on normally. "Privately, in front of you, i's easy. I don't worry about looking silly or anything."
|
"Something tells me you're putting too much stress on yourself thinking that way," Sayaku replied. "Sometimes you look silly when you act. It's really no big deal. But Olive, you didn't look silly. You looked like you were an actual maid being worried for their mistress."
|
Olivia's cheeks reddened from the praise and she looked away, across the room, trying to find anything but Saya's face to concentrate on. When she was little she had put on mini plays for friends and family, but she hadn't done so in many years. She had been told she had talent and should pursue acting, but she had never really wanted to. Acting was for fun and only fun to her.
After a long moment she peeled her eyes from the wall she had been staring at and looked at Saya again, though only briefly, and then at her lap. "Thank you." She said, grateful for his praise yet slightly confused. His praise had made her feel funny. Blissfully happy, and warm and fuzzy, but different than when others praised her. She looked back at Saya and wanted to hug him. She was, however, unaware of male etiquette in a situation like this. Wouldn't her hugging him be odd? And why did she want to hug him? Even she didn't know. "I guess I just... don't like the thought of so many people... watching me." She said finally. |
Somehow, Sayaku ended up chuckling a bit. "The fact that you had such trouble looking at me when you said that both worries me and makes me think you're like a cute little brother or something." He had meant that the other boy was cute, but he couldn't just say it that way- it was awkward. "There's really nothing to be embarrassed about. A lot of people have trouble being watched. I mostly don't like it either, unless I'm being watched playing music. Then it's fine for me."
|
Olivia looked at Saya quickly when mentioned she had been like a cute little brother. 'Cute,' she liked, 'little brother,' not so much. What else could she expect though? There was no way Saya could see her the way she was beginning to realize she wanted him to. To him she was Oliver, a fellow guy, and would always be such. Her stomach did a strange twist of displeasure and she held back a frown. Why couldn't he have just said cute?
"I don't mind so much when people watch me paint. That's probably because I don't acknowledge anything but my painting supplies and the canvas." She smiled, thinking of how she always seemed to go off into her own world while painting. |
"Sounds like me with music. I don't notice people when I'm playing drums or something because I'm so into it that no one else exists in my head. It's like everyone vanishes off the face of the earth...Well, until I finish. Then I realize people were watching. But...I can usually just laugh that off." He smiled, nodding in response to his friend.
|
Olivia nodded and smiled, remembering something from her childhood. "As a little kid I used to hide everything I would paint or draw. I didn't want anyone to see any of it. I don't remember when I stopped that, but I know it took some convincing from my older sisters." She laughed a tiny laugh and closed her eyes. Her sisters, oh how she missed them. Then her eyes snapped open, she had forgotten to call them. "Oh, speaking of sisters, I need to call mine. I forgot." She stood and walked to her bag and began digging through her stuff, trying to find her cell phone, which she rarely used.
|
"I should call my mom too to let her know about Flute. Thanks for reminding me." He smiled a bit, digging out his also rarely used cell phone. "I hate this thing but it does come in handy..." He dialed the phone number, calling it. To his surprise, an old friend answered. "Ah- Chini...Um...Why are you answering my house phone? Anyway, can you get my mom?" He waited, fidgetting slightly from anxiety over who answered. When she did, he spoke the first phrase he said in Norwegian, his native language.
"God middag, mor. Eh? You're learning English too? Well that's convenient. Oh- mor. Sis is in the area right now- she came extra early, so she's staying at a hotel for a little while. A friend helped her find the way and stuff. Hm? Yeah I'm in the play. I play a servant boy. You gonna come? Oh...Sorry to hear that. Well, take care of the livestock for me. And keep clear of billy. Only dad should touch that beast..." He hung up with a sigh after the conversation. "So mom's learning English. I hope with all of it I won't lose my ways with Norwegian words..." He laughed a bit, smiling to himself. At least his mother had been well. ((Note: I used an online translator. God middag means good afternoon, and mor is mother. :3)) |
Olivia overheard Saya's conversation as she dug through her bag, finally pulling out her cell phone. She was curious about a lot of things. Who was Chini? Also, his language sounded fun. She wondered if he would teach her any of it. She decided to ask after she made her call.
She dialed the number and the phone was picked up in the second ring. "Oooooolive!" Said a high pitched voice. "Geeez, take forever to call why don't you?" Olivia laughed. It was Kaity, the sister closest in age to herself. She was very hyper active. "Hey Kaity, how is everyone?" -She was greeted by an enthusiastic response and the beginnings of a epic tale- "Woah, woah, not so fast! I can barely keep up." -Kaity replied with a much shorter version of everyones welfare- "That's great. Tell everyone I love them, kay? Alright, bye." She turned to Saya. "If I let her, that girl would go on for hours." She said with a fond smile. Then she remembered her earlier questions. "Whose Chini?" |
"It's just someone from the village..." He was tempted to hide even that much, as Chini was the supreme beginning of his downward spiral of problems with girls- but he didn't want to say that out loud. "Her name's Chinza, but a lot of us in the village always called her Chini. She's next in line to inherit the general store. Probably doesn't sound to exciting in reality but she's always been really happy for that."
Sayaku grinned, looking back at the bit he was able to hear from his friend's phone call. "Seems like you get along well with your family. That's at least a relief. Though I think my mom would do the same as your sister Kaity in terms of that." |
Olivia grinned. "Oh, Kaity's a handful, but we're pretty close since she's closest to me in age." She laughed, brushing hair out of her face and looking at Saya.
When Saya said 'she' a sharp spike of jealously went through Olivia. She knew it was pointless and she had no right to it but she still felt jealous of the girl who got to be a girl around Saya. And because there was something odd about the way Saya spoke about her made Olivia think there was more to the story. So, Olivia being the tactful person she was, blurted out, "Was she your girlfriend?" The she tried to fix what she had said. "I mean, you seem a little... off when you talk about her so I thought maybe... Did it end badly or something?" Yes, she certainly was a master at tact. |
"It's...something I'd rather not talk about," Sayaku mumbled quickly. His voice was slightly quiet, and anxiety driven as well. He wouldn't look at Oliver, but rather stared at his lap, silently awaiting a new topic. "It's not important anyway, right? So let's not worry about it."
