Ah, I can see how it could come off that way. I actually found the Advanced games cumbersome, come to think of it, but I never got that vibe from the original. I might have just ignored it since I liked the story so much.

How may tactics games are there? I only know of the two for final fantasy, the one my friend played on the PS1 (and got pissed off at when he couldn't out level the game) and the one I play on my DS, Grimoire A2.

There's another one on the Gameboy Advance just called Final Fantasy Tactics: Advance.

Ah. I remember a game my friend used to play on the PS1. It played like tactics but involved Mechs. I want to say Front Mission 3, but I'm not totally sure. It was interesting to watch though.

Cause a game that's hard to get into at first is Chain of Memories. Trying to move around and shuffle through a deck in order to attack is difficult at first ;@___@ But I only played it on the Playstion.

I played the first KH way back when it first came out, but I haven't played any of the others. Not really sure why, just lost track of that series.

And now, I'm slowly working my through, but my pile of games to play is still five or six thick, so it'll be a while before I set my sights on anything else.

I was a huge kingdom hearts fan, but lately I lost track. They have so many side games, and stuff you get only through the phone, etc. Idk. xD

Yes I noticed that in one of the threads where the topic was on Assassins Creed lol -is a major lurker- My opinion though is that Birth By Sleep is the best because of the different battle system used. The Series though is convoluted and won't get to the point. I'm a big fan, but I'm frustrated by it. u.u

@Sheol: All of them sound fun. And RPs...yes this will take some tiem for you to finish heh. I never finished Fallout 3 either! D: I got to um..that boat city with a metally sounding name. I'm an explorer at heart so I did more running around than actual quests.

That's exactly where I stopped playing too, in Fallout. Weird. I think I quit because I hit the level cap by then ad didn't feel like buying the DLC to increase it, at the time.

As for non-FF SE games... Xenogears? Vagrant Story? Dragon Quest? The SaGa games? The Mana series? The Last Remnant? There are probably others, that's all I can think of right now.

I liked Final Fantasy Tactics on the PS1 way back even though it was hard, I enventually figured it out and did an entire run of the game without having to powerlevel at all.

@Sheol: wow you hit the level cap? o: I sure didn't. I just wandered rather aimlessly for fun. Maybe did a handful of quests. But yup I wandered xD I have played Dragon Quest, and it is fun I must say C: Only....12(?) and Rocket Slime if that counts lol

We bought Lost Planet 2...could get into it like the first one so I didn't get anywhere at all really. Better get it before they get rid of it another way if you want it.

Do they throw it away? I've always been curious about that.

@Serra, the first time I played FFT I rented it (I think I was around 10 at the time) and I had to return it before getting past the fourth battle. That game had a tough learning curve. (Of course, it's stupidly easy to break once you know what you're doing.)

@Jurinjo, yeah I did a lot of exploring and wandering around in Fallout 3. I probably hit most of the locations on the map. That's the way I am in those games, though. Same thing with Elder Scrolls, the main storyline is always in the background for me.

Doing this cosplay makes me want to play Breath of Fire now...

Wait, she's from Breath of Fire? No wonder she looks familiar to me. It's been forever since I played those. The third game was my favorite by far.

I think I've only finished a few games in my gamer life: Dark Cloud, Lion King (Sega Genesis and Game Gear), Primal Something-or-other (dinosaur fighting game for Sega Genesis), FF Tactics A2 and Cool Spot (Sega Genesis). Remember when 7-up has the little red dot as their mascot? He had his own game. :). The newer Zelda's too, though Majora's Mask and twilight Princess where joint efforts with my stepsister.

I'm still working my way through Castlevania; Lament of Innocence, Devil May Cry, Okami, my Silent Hill 2 disc that won't work, FFXII, Alice in Wonderland, and on PC Baldur's Gate (lost the save), Icewind Dale (also lost the save and now the game won't work), Morrowind, and probably a couple others that I forgot. (This does not include the stuff I've played and since quit). So yeah, I'm fickle.

I never really know what games to get either. I think I buy one or two a year, maybe. I have Pokemon Black and before that I bought Pokemon soul silver. Those are the last two I got. Apart from my "to finish" list my "to play" list consisters of Genji: Dawn of the Samurai, and Warcraft Three on PC. That's it.

Ugh. Net's so bad I'm not even sure what I typed up there. Breath of Fire wasn't bad. We played into 4 I think, though Mr. Ancient accent guy drove me insane. My poor lit student ears!

Yes she's from the second one. I think I enjoyed the fourth one a lot, but I also liked that odd one on the PS2, umm.. Dragon Quarter I think was the name.

I only remember playing 1 and 3. Not sure I if I got to any of the others. I probably at least saw 2 played, though, since I recognize her. My uncle had like every SNES RPG ever and I was over there playing all the time when I was young, so I got exposed to a lot of games I never ended up getting for myself.

4 I think was PS1. My friends and I were playing it at hospital one day when my friend brought his playstation while they kept me company. I liked the game (watching anyway. He usually played). It did have an obscene amount of go-fetch quests though. That was not so much fun. Accent Boy was a interesting character, some ancient re-awakened guy of some sort, purple clothes and silver hair, the text was nasty though. Pretty much add "eth" or "dst" to the end of every other word and make the rest of them "thee"s, "thou"s and "thy"s.

That accent sounds maddening. I'll never understand why writers have such a hard time doing that right. It really isn't that hard to get the conjugation right in most cases.

I once had a heck of a time trying to explain "lest" so somebody. He seemed to think it was a fancy version of "unless."

I always like the vast array of characters in Breath of Fire. I remember in the first one I got the bad ending because I couldn't figure out how to use the special dragon form. I couldn't figure out why it wasn't available until I unfused Karn...

That was what I always liked about those games, how unique all the characters were in battle. Karn was awesome.

I don't think I ever finished the first game. I got stuck in the part where you're stuck in a nightmare or something and gave up.

That part has tough battles and some annoying puzzles. I don't remember exactly how to get out of that.

I actually had the official strategy guide for the game, too, so either that section was unnecessarily difficult, or the guide was completely inadequate to help me through. Or both. :p

I think I remember getting stuck there but I'm afraid the first time I played Breath of Fire was pretty close to when it first game out. I played it again more recently but I'm seriously at a loss as to the particulars of the nightmare, I just remember there being one.

I think I played it when I was 8 or 9, which we would be... 12 or so years ago. I barely remember anything about the game, honestly. That part just stuck out because I got stumped there.

I had a love/hate feeling for the HP bars on the enemies in that game. For the one part it was nice to see them, but on the other hand the bosses cheated and kept going when the bar got to zero. I thought the other games did it better, with the HP bars being a mystery until you killed an enemy once, so bosses were always a mystery instead of pretending to die and then taunting you.

Yeah, the second wind feature was annoying. Some of the bosses had longer second winds than their regular HP, from what I remember.
