Money's that tight, huh? SC4 is only like 7 dollars used on Amazon. (Which is honestly kind of shocking)
*cries* I paid 80 dollars for it. :( |
Maybe next month then. I haven't started working yet and I did just have to fix my computer.

The worst part? I can't wait to hand Namco another 80 dollars of mine on Jaunary 31st. :D
And... here is where I gripe about Critical Finishes. Did anyone think these were a good idea? I never DC online unless someone beats me with these -- that's not a win, it's a bypass of the entire structure of the game, and one that would never work without the insufferable lag online adds to the equation. It's actually really difficult to punish someone who's going for a CF because they don't play like a normal person at all, it breaks my rhythm horribly. Also, to keep exploring the Sieg topic, I find I have the most trouble with characters who can just keep up an endless string of attacks, as his interrupts are kind of limited. People like Maxi and Taki are hell for me as Siegried. Amy probably would be, too, but I know her inside-out and those match-ups tend to become hilarious once I learn how they use Amy. Which brings me to another point. I almost always lose the first round, since I spend it trying to size the opponent up and learn how they fight. Does anyone else play this way? |
and for me it kind of kills the moment of killing someone when all you want them to do is to defend themselves throughout the round.
But to tell you the truth the Critical finishes are pretty cool |
Well, the animations are cool. Have you seen how they changed them in 5? They're called Critical Edges now, and they don't instant-kill, they just do a lot of damage, and they're based off of the new Soul Gauge. You can only do them when the meter is at at least level 1. They actually add an element of strategy to the combat, instead of making it boring and cheap, while still looking (even) cool(er).
|
no I haven't seen i in 4 the only way you can get to critical finish is when you put the opponents soul into shock technically
|
I know how they work in 4. People tend to notice I'm vulnerable to them because I block a lot. :p
Though, they notice I'm weak to throws a lot more... |
I don't really I just throw...do you wanna play SC4?
|
As in right now? Sure! I'm bored out of my mind here. :p
|
ok, I just got to get started
|
I set a room up and sent you an invite, don't know if that works when you're offline or not. Let me know, I'll send another.
|
Yea I found you ^_^
I suck at it and I need to make my shirt |
Lol, no more Amy from me, she's not fair. :p Sieg, either, since I'm so good with him.
I'm gonna try some people I need practice with. Like Nightmare! :p |
Sorry for winning so much, Echo, I was trying to go easy. I'm just conditioned to duck throws, guard impact, and such.
Still, I had fun, hope you did too. A lot better than fighting strangers in ranked and wanting throw my controller through the tv. :p |
it was better than fight with a computer. that was easy?! I just love the fact that I ringed you out with 2 hits.
I kind of mash buttons and you can probably tell |
Yeah, that was funny. And you did beat me a couple times with some of my rustier people.
And... yeah, at lest, I was going easy with Amy and Sieg. I'm kind of scary with them. :p Also, if you don't play online a lot, the lag can mess up your timing. I pretty much only play online, so I'm used to it. If you ever want to get REALLY frustrated some time, go mess around in ranked. People are NOT nice there. |
no that was actually my first time doing it online since I'm a loner and I play alone.
I would be at the lowest novice player and since before that I haven't played it in months because i thought I lost the game |
Yeah, I was being sarcastic. I don't actually suggest playing ranked. :p It's not a good place to learn, either, since all you learn is how to play there, which... isn't actually fun, since you're basically training to dodge cheap moves then respond with your own.
Either way, it's only a few months until SC5 comes out, so there's not much point in putting much practice in with 4 any more, since the game is going play a lot differently. Honestly, every time I play 4, it just makes me want to play 5 that much more... |
well I wait until the price goes down then some one can get it or if I have the paycheck to purchase the game but for some reason I'm in the mood of an 8-bit video game XD
|
I was thinking about CaS in 5 earlier today... I wish they could do a layering system like Tripshee's, at least with the hair. There would be so many awesome combinations that could be made... though, you'd get idiots online wearing every single style, each in a different color. I can't imagine it would pose any problems with clipping or anything, though, if each style works individually.
|
Well, think about having to load and render 30-50 different wigs each time you fight someone <.<;
|
I'd settle for 2, honestly. :p
|
Yes, being able to have two would be nice just for some color modification abilities. But maybe you can "paint" part of the hair a different color too? It looked pretty in depth.
|
If I ever become a serious gamer again, I might get SoulCalibur V.
|
New announcement today!
So, we have "Sheba" who looks like a cross between Yun-Seong and Kilik, with a dose of Goku/Sun Wukong added in for good measure. I doubt I'll use him, but it's nice to see more new people. And Cervantes is apparently human again. Interesting, but have to see how it plays out. Yoshimitsu is back and is looking pretty badass... And Aeon Calcos, a.k.a. Lizard Man now has angel wings, dual wields axes, and breathes fire. Um... wow? I wasn't expecting that. Will be hard to use for Create a Soul, but... I have to say, he's certainly more interesting now. There's some more screenshots further down in that link showing new stages and some story mode captures. Looking pretty awesome, all in all. Apparently there will be a livestream Create a Soul demonstration on the 22nd. Edit: It seems to be Xiba, not Sheba. Much better in my opinion. |
I'll be the one trying Sheba
|
Xiba! His name is Xiba! Ignore the mistranslation above. :p
|
But still~ i want to try him out
|
LOL no matter how it's spelled I think I know someone who's going to want to be teh 'Shiba'(since that's how both will sound when said).
>.< and I soooooo want to start on my Viola outfit, but I"m nervous over any changes they might be making to her! |
maybe wait until the game is released then it'll give you the permanent design idea for you to sew
|
Q.Q but I want to have it done before it comes out...it's what I get to work on once my CFH(Costume from hell) is done...stupid indecisive designers
|
|
I want SC5 for my birthday since there's nothing between Christmas and MY birthday in a way of deserving a present
|
I asked for it for Christmas. My mom didn't seem like she was too excited about getting me a preorder for Christmas, but I hope she gets it.
|
Here's a new video showing Viola's second costume. I wish the host was more familiar with the game, since this looks to be a new build with all the most recent characters in it, but... he doesn't seem to have a clue what he's doing, so of course he picks Ezio to play instead of one of the new guys. >_>

::flails:: why is it ALWAYS red??! But when there's better references I'll probably make that version too :: drools all over the new videos::
|
That's pretty cool that you can make those costumes. Mind showing them off when they're done?
I can't remember if I mentioned or not, but in one of livestreams last month, there was someone doing a cosplay of Viola. If that would be helpful to you, I could probably dig it up, but she was just wandering around the area they were in, I don't remember getting a very detailed look. |
I've got plenty of references for her main outfit, and I don't like using other people's outfits as reference(I'm a bit anal about details). And I'll post pictures of the finished costumes when I get 'em done. Viola's main outfit is next on my To Do list. So, I'll start it in January...ish....
|
So... Algol is back, Edgemaster is the mimic character, and one of the CaS exclusive styles is Devil Jin from Tekken.
