HAYATE

"...Gyeh?!" He tripped over his injured and dragging foot and went barreling into a stack of dusty chairs.

After a moment of contemplating the darkness, he slowly got up and leaned against a pillar, hoping it was at least somewhat intact, and drew out a single torch from the stash at his belt, then pulled out his lighter and lit the torch. It wasn't much to go by, but he preferred to not run into any cobwebs.

...Shit. Remembering his mask, he put the torch over the edge of a desk and looped the gas mask over his unkempt hair, but not before sliding a tab upwards to close one eyeslot. Depth perception wasn't important now, at least not as important as having one adjusted eye would be in case he ran into any hostiles. Grabbing the torch, he slipped down the corridors to where he knew there was a stairwell that linked this building to another.

It wasn't as if he hadn't broken into and explored almost every single building in the area.

Roland continued to smell and shrugged. "I'm a police officer. Your fellow hunters made the mistake of shooting at me. Which is a breach of the hunter contract. Which in turn allowed me to use the necessary force to neutralize the situation." He walked closer to Makoto until he was within an arms reach of her MP7. "Well I hope your gun fires then. The others found it rather difficult and probably rather strange that their guns wouldn't fire when they pulled the trigger."

Makoto stood her ground, refusing to move back as the officer approached her. She glanced at her MP7, and tested the man's words. She pulled the trigger, but no bullets fired. ...Strange. My gun was working awhile ago. She kept the gun pointed at the officer's head, hiding any sign of surprise from the officer.

"I'm sure the Hunters wouldn't have fired at a police officer if the said officer wasn't inside a Skull Gang's base." Makoto paused. If my gun isn't working, then close-quarters-combat would be the only thing that would work. However... She stole a quick glance at the dead bodies of the Skull Hunters. ...seeing what damage he's done to those unfortunate Hunters, I'm putting myself at a huge disadvantage. She looked into the officer's eyes. "What were you doing inside there anyways."

Roland turned his back towards Makoto and walked towards the pile of hunters were he saw one of them had started to crawl out from under his fallen comrades. He raised his right foot and slammed it down on the hunters head and only a slight groan escaped the mans lips before falling completely still. "Oh I was a prisoner." Roland removed his foot from the hunter's head after he was satisfied that he wouldn't be moving any longer.

Makoto lowered her MP7 as she watched the officer put the injured Hunter out of his misery. She reached for her earpiece, checking if it was still on. I hope HQ is hearing all of this. This bastard is more of a threat than the Skulls we're hunting down. I don't care if he's a police officer or not. He took down a whole group of Hunters on his own.

"..." Makoto took a deep breath. She dashed at the officer, who was only a few feet away, and took out her knife. She lunged at him with her knife.

Roland turned around and caught the blade of the knife between his index and middle finger of his left hand. "Oh dear... It appears you just committed a crime... Attempted murder of a police officer." He sighed softly. "It seems like you will be joining you comrades after all."

Makoto's attack failed. She grit her teeth in frustration, seeing the officer's inhuman ability. What? How did he...? Makoto desperately threw a punch, hoping to stumble the officer and make an escape.

Roland let the punch hit him in the center of his chest. "That was rather pathetic..." He sighed once again. "But I guess you understand the situation you are in." He released his hold on the knife blade and pushed Makoto back. "I guess you were more bark then bite in the end."

The sound of the explosions could be heard from the street where Chloe was at. She stopped for a moment, her lips setting in a thin line. That made her decision up for her, there was no way she taking any alley ways home. The police and hunters probably heard the explosion and all the alley ways would be thick with them.
Shifting her labtop under her arm, Chloe glances around and decides to take the route across the nearby bridge. Around halfway across the bridge, she notices Ashton. Not really sensing any danger from the girl, she was probably a candy skull, Chloe stops a few feet away, seeing that Ashton is deep in thought.
"You know, it's not really safe to be sitting there, day dreaming," Chloe says in a calm voice, if the girl wanted to fight than let her make the first move, if not, than there wasn't no harm in being a little social, "The whole area is probably going to be flooded with police and hunters soon."

"Most likely, it's not just the flame skulls involved," Chloe responds, staring out at where Ashton points before sitting down her labtop and leaning on the railing of the bridge, "All depends who your referring to. Through might not be safe to discuss tech stuff or members around here."

"Hm, I suppose no member of the techs can really afford to be nice, all the other skulls want our secrets," Chloe picks up the labtop, "and I agree. Even the pavement seems to have ears these days. The cafe sounds fine, I am dying for a cup of coffee anyway."

Chloe raises an eyebrow, "Can't get any more creative than this to get to the cafe," she remarks as she carefully follows Ashton across the work zone and the beam, "Through kind of wish now gym wasn't the only subject I had failed in school."

Once the officer released his grip on her knife, Makoto jumped back a few feet while keeping her guard up. She switched her knife from the saber grip to an ice pick grip, playing with the knife as she stood her ground.

"I could say the same to you. I expected you to kill me, and have me 'join my comrades' like you said before." Makoto looked at her watch (which was on the same arm she's holding her knife). Backup would arrive soon, but she didn't want any more Hunters killed by this one guy.

Roland laughed at makoto and sat back down on the pile of hunters. His left arm resting on his knee and his right still placed into his pocket. "I'm simply waiting." He spit out the cigarette he had between his lips and replaced it with a fresh one. "Besides its not like you can run away." Roland took a match out from his left pocket and lit his cigarette. "By now I'm sure you have noticed that."

Jayden pushed the rims of his sunglasses back up on the bridge of his nose as he entered the area, the smell of burnt flesh could be smelled a few blocks away. Must of been one hell of a party. Jayden thinks to himself, surveying the bodies and other debris that lay around the outskirts of the base, kneeling every so often to check for a pulse of a fellow officer or hunter, only to find none. People he only had known for a short time, dead before their time, this one of the few things that made police work sickening.
Pulling out his revolver from his pocket, he turns the corner to find Makoto and Roland. Disgust flicks over his mouth seeing Roland sitting on top of the dead hunters, "Oi. You ever learned to respect the dead?" Jayden snaps at Roland before addressing Makoto, "Would of got here sooner but the bloody dispatcher kept messing up the directions, ended up at a freaking strip bar, a gay strip bar at that. Mind telling me who your disgusting little bandanna toting friend is?"

Lucky not to fall off the beam, Chloe joins Ashton on the other end, "Maybe we should put that in the Cafe's suggestion box, have a better route of reaching the joint." she says drily.

Another person appeared in the alleyway. Makoto turned her head in the direction the voice came from. It was another police officer, with a revolver in hand.

"You don't recognize the guy sitting on that pile of bodies? He's an officer, like you." She quickly eyed the newcomer, and sighed. I wonder if he's going to shoot me. I apparently broke the law.

[B]Roland grumbled. "Its not like every officer knows the other lil miss hunter." He sighed then pushed his glasses up. A slight glare forming on them. "And why should I respect the dead if they were nothing but butchers in life?"

"Another officer?" Jayden slips the revolver back into his pocket, "Hate to say he looks more like a skull than police and do I look like I know who he is? Bloody hell, I'm not a mind reader, I don't know every police officer here," he answers Makoto, "And at least, if what this dude says is true, I haven't tried to shot another officer in the back, have I?" He than turns to Roland, his lips twisted in disgust, "Does it matter what they were in life, man? They are still human beings. Anyway, better we get the job we're here to do done and leave the little dating rituals you two have for off duty."

Chloe surveys the cafe, "As long as their coffee tastes decent," she says, reaching into her pocket and pulling out the remaining change, "How many of the other skulls come here anyway?"

Roland's smile faded for just an instant. "It matters when they kill indiscriminately..." He said in a hushed tone which neither Makoto nor Jayden could hear. With his smile flashing back onto his face, Roland stood up and stretched. After a quick stretch he placed his hands back into his pockets and walked down from the pile of hunters. "And for your information I dislike violent women... To volatile. I personally prefer the bookish type."

Makoto laughed at the two officers' comments. "Dating rituals? Ha. I don't have time for that kind of thing." She glared at the bandanna-wearing officer. "And I certainly have no interest in you."

Makoto radioed the Skull Hunter Headquarters as she walked past Roland. "I need a medivac at the Skull's hideout. I have multiple casualties. I'll continue to pursue their leader." She examined the bodies closely, looking at the disfigured faces each one had. Heh. Like you're any better, officer. She turned around and walked towards Jayden. She slipped her hand into her hip pouch, took out several dog tags, and handed it to him. "Give them to the medics or something. I have a job to complete."

Before she walked into the alley, she turned around and glared at Roland again. "I don't care about what the Skull Gangs are to you, or about your hate towards the Hunters. Don't get in my way. I still have that bullet for your head."

Jayden raises an eyebrow, "Could of fooled me." before accepting the dog tags, "Gotcha. Guess I'll start roping the area off and keeping anyone who shouldn't be in the scene out." Jayden glances at Roland as he pulls out a cigarette and lights it, "You don't know how to live, do you? All the violent babes are the best kinds to invite to parties. First to start the cat fights when you start eyeballing other babes but not the best kind of exs to have through." Taking a puff of the cigarette, Jayden puts the dog tags in his pocket and pulls out the police tape from the little waist bag he kept under his clothes, "Forensics is going to have a field day with this lot." he mutters to himself.

"That's a good thing to know." Chloe joins Ashton at the table, "Tell me about it, it's harder to feed a still growing kid with the amount of money I get." She pulls one of the menus over and opens to glance at the options to eat.

Roland shook his head. "If you believe that then that's on you." Roland started to walk away. "I'll leave the rest with you." Roland waved slightly as he walked. "Oh and don't forget to fill out the paper work as well."

Before long Roland had made his way back to the shrine district. It was peaceful here with a slight mystic atmosphere. Though as he continued to walk Roland noticed the hush toned voices of the people in the area. He thought at first that it was because of pant legs and shoes were still stained red but when he turned the corner to his house Roland saw the reason. "Oi... What are you doing here Maki?"

Makoto walked several blocks away from the two officers. There were already several Hunters securing the area and checking the bodies of the Fire Skulls they took down. She looked around the area before slamming her fist on a broken car.

Damn. Those two Skulls I was chasing are probably long gone now. And that damn officer got in my way again. She hopped onto the hood of the car, and sat down.

Makoto's stomach growled, and she rubbed her stomach.I haven't eaten since I got here... There was a small cafe around the block. She sighed. It'll do, I guess. Makoto walked in and took a seat at one of the booths inside. She rested her chin on her hand, and stared out the window as she waited for the waiter to take her order.

"Oi oi... That should be my line." Roland pointed at Maki. "Your the one standing in front of my place..." Roland's house at the look of an old temple which had been converted into a house, but still keeping the appearance of a temple and despite the its rustic appearance it was very well maintained on the outside leaving anyone to believe it really was a temple of some sort.
Roland sighed and walked passed Maki and headed towards the front door. "So... You wanna come in?" He opened the front door and walked in then slipped his blood stained shoes off and tossed them to the side before he walked down the hall.

The inside of Roland's house was more modern. Something someone would see in the New Tokyo district and clearly far beyond the pay rate of a Old Tokyo district police officer. The inside was also rather filthy with clothes papers and other random objects scattered about the floor.

Roland was in his room changing. "This used to be a government safe house not to long ago." He said as he came out of his room wearing a pair of shorts and a muscle shirt. Two vertical scars could be barely seen on his chest. They were perfectly parallel to each other and looking like it was a type of surgical scars.

Roland walked into the kitchen and opened the fridge. "Want something to drink?" He pulled out two beers from the door and used his foot to close it. Walked up to Maki and held out one of the beers. He noticed that she still had her taser in hand. "Its not poisoned and I'm unarmed. You can relax you know..."

Jayden rolls his eyes as he watches Roland walk away, "Sure mate," he takes one last puff of his cigarette and crushes the butt beneath his heel, "Just what I look forward to doing, the bloody paperwork."
Sectioning off the area took around ten minutes, luckily not many sightseers in this area. Removing the small camera that was also in the small bag, Jayden begins to collect photographic evidence, not just for Forensics but to assist in the report writing, through he could always lift Makoto's address from the police directory later on and see if she would help clear up some of the events that had happened, and hell, maybe he would pick up a case of beer on the way over. Salvage what he could of the night, nothing better than moody coworkers, a case of beer and paperwork on your night off..

The waiter walked to Makoto with a tray of food. It wasn't much, but a sandwich and a coffee would be enough to get her though the rest of the day. Makoto handed the waiter a little more than enough money for the food. "Keep the change."

She bit into her sandwich, and looked at the other customers. Some were staring at her, and others seemed a bit uncomfortable because of her outfit. Heh. Maybe I should've came here without my equipment.

"Oh, she's not my daughter through I guess legally, she could be. She's my little sister, she has born really ill and I've been the one raising her since she was five," Chloe replies, "If you wish to, I don't mind paying for my own. And yes, you may ask. I'll try to answer your questions to the best of my knowledge regarding your friend."
