Long continued to stand between Rosen and the cliff.
Rosen continued to stare, "Even the best bodyguard cannot stand forever between a man who wishes to die and death," he stated seriously.
Long didn't reply, but he was still standing.
"Get out of my way, coward," Rosen spat at him as he finally managed to stand.
Long stood his ground.
"What right to do you think you have, one who has given up... to keep me from giving up?" Rosen questioned harshly, taking a step forward.
Long didn't answer the question.
"Then get out of the way," Rosen murmured coldly, trying to step around him.
Long remained frozen until Rosen crossed an invisible line he had drawn in his mind. Then he quickly stepped, trying to push Rosen back in the chair again.
This time Rosen fell back into the chair, cursing Long harshly, "You're such a hypocrite!" he shouted at him.
Long didn't appear phased, waiting to see if Rosen was going to try to stand.
Rosen did try to stand, cursing all the while.
Long let Rosen stand, but every time he crossed the invisible line, Long knocked him back again.
Finally, the pain in Rosen's hands seemed to catch up with him and when he fell back into the chair he stayed there, biting his lip to keep from crying out as he glared at Long through tearing eyes.
Long waited a little longer before walking over to Rosen and putting the IV back in. His eyes were blank; it was easier for him to fall back into old habit than make sense of the present.
"Yeah, that's right. Escape back into yourself, coward!" Rosen spat at him, "Two can play that game."
