Hullo again, Aur.

-hrm- Well, I suppose I could, but I have a bad feeling like I might end up explaining things more than I'd like...

I've had post-traumatic stress disorder for about six or seven years now (so for pretty much all of my teen years). See, my first, uh, partner, boyfriend, what have you, was murdered at a New Year's party that we attended together. This time of year is... hard, to say the least. It's also been... ah... (forgive me, I tend to have trouble keeping track of the time... It all blends together quite often.) I think about two years or so-? Since I was raped... (I had a close call to that a couple years before the actual rape, too, around this time of year.)

I've been dealing with it mostly on my own, and friends of course, for a long time now, but I'm still prone to returns of my depression (I was just getting over one of those swings when I met Asami and renewed contact with Nexess) and the occasional, well, PTSD type episodes... You know, flashbacks and the like. One of those kind of hit me out of the blue today.

And uh... Yeah. That's about it, I guess.

Funkduder stood silently on his perch. His flames went dim. Stress, depression, sadness, and death. These things he had experienced before, but on a much smaller scale...
"Interesting...and sad..." His head felt slightly heavier than before."... I'll spare usual advice and condolences since you must have heard them before at least a dozen times, but to reveal this to me gives me higher regard of you...care for a drink?" he asked opening a bottle of brandy.

Thank you, love, but I'm fine... It really is amazing what a good cup of cocoa and a bit of fooling around can do. Gore, too. Franken Fran helped with that. I'm on chapter 14.

In any case... When the site goes down again, I suppose I'll go to bed. It's not that far off anyway. And I think I have enough for one more cup, too.

Funkduder 01-03-2012 06:05 AM

I'd give it ten minutes, give or take. I'm glad you like the manga, by the way. :)

Gallagher 01-03-2012 06:06 AM

It's exactly to my tastes, as I'd hoped it would be. Just like Leviathan. It hits all the things that I love perfectly. You don't happen to have any other suggestions, do you? Parasyte was good, too. Not as much as Leviathan though.

Funkduder 01-03-2012 06:08 AM

There isn't much that I can think of that's quite like Franken fran. Sorry, hun.

Gallagher 01-03-2012 06:12 AM

Shame. Oh well. I suppose it's better that way.

I can just cycle through these three anyway... How brilliant.

Those Frankenstein-esque creations really get me. Same with chimeras. That's why my primary roleplaying character (and the one my current avatar is based on) is a tetragametic chimera.

Funkduder 01-03-2012 06:18 AM

Mmmhmmm...(kinda gets the idea, but not really :( )
tetragametic...?

Gallagher 01-03-2012 06:23 AM

It's when a person has two sets of DNA in their body.

In the womb, two separate eggs have to get released and fertilized in a cycle. Normally, these would make twins, of the not identical sort. But sometimes, for reasons we don't exactly understand, they'll combine to form one perfectly functional person instead.

Sometimes, you can tell. They'll have differences in the color of their skin, or eyes, or hair, or even turn out as a hermaphrodite. But, sometimes you can't tell unless you happen to find out by accident while doing genetic tests. Either way, it's completely natural, and happens in humans and animals... Probably more often than we realize, actually.

Funkduder 01-03-2012 06:26 AM

That's...kinda awesome. Though when I normally think of that, I think of this tumored fetus that had four arms and four legs. I think they did a C-setion and a surgery after... if not, it probably died becuase the limbs took too much from the fetus.

Gallagher 01-03-2012 06:28 AM

I know what you mean.

Most often, though, that sort of thing is when one fertilized egg starts to split to make identical twins, and... doesn't quite make it all the way. But yes, sometimes one twin can be sort of... absorbed by the other like that.

These explanations are a bit simplified, but they are different processes, really.

Funkduder 01-03-2012 06:32 AM

Indeed. But I think that sounds cool, nonetheless.

Gallagher 01-03-2012 06:36 AM

Oh, it is! -grins- My chimera, half of his genes happen to have albinism as well. Most of his hair is a pale, pale blonde, because he's got it on most of his scalp, yeah? One of his eyes, too. I took a little bit of liberty with that and kept the stereotypical pinkish color, even if it's not strictly correct. His eyesight is horrible on that side, and the difference between that and his good eye gives him trouble with depth perception... Not to mention he has massive spots over different areas of his body and always needs protection from the sun!

... Oh dear... Well, I have warned not to get me ranting before, haven't I-?

Spirit of the Party 01-03-2012 06:40 AM

You have not, but nonetheless, I'll read. I find you very amusing *brushes past gently* and attractive ;) ~ <3
