Dang it...sorry I couldn't finish my exorcism scene in time...
I don't understand what has happened...

Suzerain of Sheol 12-27-2013 05:42 PM

I added you on skype, Lawtan.

And what was confusing exactly?

Lawtan 12-27-2013 06:04 PM

...did we just suddenly go to the final stage? How could that device do that...and why didn't Thomas use it in the first place - save the bullets, as it were. And why does this creature remind me of Lilith mixed with Quezacotl?

Suzerain of Sheol 12-27-2013 06:27 PM

The device had nothing to do with it at all. It's for calling down a nuclear strike from the Amorpha satellite, it's extremely dangerous to have it just lying around.

The illusion was dispelled when Sin recognized Na'lsa's presence -- he is one of her many children, being the incarnation of one of the Seven Sins.

And I imagine she strikes you that way cause you've never read Paradise Lost. :|

Quote:

On either side a formidable shape;
The one seem'd Woman to the waste, and fair, [ 650 ]
But ended foul in many a scaly fould
Voluminous and vast, a Serpent arm'd
With mortal sting: about her middle round
A cry of Hell Hounds never ceasing bark'd
With wide Cerberian mouths full loud, and rung [ 655 ]
A hideous Peal: yet, when they list, would creep,
If aught disturb'd thir noyse, into her woomb,
And kennel there, yet there still bark'd and howl'd
Within unseen. Farr less abhorrd than these
Vex'd Scylla bathing in the Sea that parts [ 660 ]
Calabria from the hoarse Trinacrian shore
Which is turn lifted from Spenser's the Fairie Queen in the character of Error.

And are you not thinking of Lamia? Lilith was apocryphally the first wife of Adam and was eventually damned and became a succubus who murdered newborns.

And she has feathered scales because she's a clone of Satan. :|

Lawtan 12-27-2013 06:32 PM

The Lamia makes more sense - I thought Lilith due to the sensual nature (And due to the L's, and no, I have not read Paradise Lost, and I'll need to look that up now (haven't heard of it before).

Suzerain of Sheol 12-27-2013 06:34 PM

You've never heard of Paradise Lost.... *faints*

IT IS THE GREATEST POEM EVER WRITTEN IN ENGLISH IT IS MY FAVORITE THING EVER GO READ IT NOW OMG

:P

Gallagher 12-27-2013 06:40 PM

-puts Suze in the corner-

Lawtan 12-27-2013 06:42 PM

*Is confuddled* Why is the fainting Daemon Prince in the corner?

@Suze - I'll look it up to read soon (either today or this weekend)

Right now...have to rewrite Kadia's scene

Suzerain of Sheol 12-27-2013 07:07 PM

It's 500 pages long Lawtan, might take you more than a weekend. ;)

Lawtan 12-27-2013 08:06 PM

It may not - Used to read that much in a day.

Suzerain of Sheol 12-27-2013 08:33 PM

It's extremely difficult reading, but all the power to you.

Espy 12-27-2013 09:06 PM

I wouldn't say it's the /best/ poem, but it's certainly...interesting. That you've never heard of it is...strange.

...granted, I went to a Catholic high, but even then...

Espy 12-27-2013 09:11 PM

Double post, but I just read stuff, so.

I completely forgot where the party was was only an illusion. Does that mean Thomas died in an illusion.....?? Or was it "real" in a sense?

Suzerain of Sheol 12-27-2013 09:15 PM

It was a psychic illusion generated by the Crown, he's really dead. Any wounds we took, any ammo we expended, etc, all really happened.

And The Divine Comedy is at least comparable in scope and power, but I did say "in English". :P

But surely Lawtan you've heard the phrase "Better to rule in Hell than serve in Heaven"?

That comes from Satan's most famous (though not quite my personal favorite but close) speech near the end of the first book in PL.

Lawtan 12-27-2013 09:28 PM

-how do I delete a post-

Salone 12-27-2013 09:37 PM

Where I come from, high schoolers are put through literacy tests.

Over 15% of my year failed them. You can imagine the treasure trove of reading we were issued.
