I don't know the series, but I know Guild Wars is a game
you lot know more than me XD
A series of games, actually. The original Guild Wars consists of three different standalone campaigns and one expansion pack. Quite a strategic game, you reach maximum level fairly early and in each town or outpost you can switch the skills you're going to use for the next mission, so it's easy to experiment. Then there's Guild Wars 2, which feels more like a casual game and has the skills tied to your currently equipped weapon. GW2 plays like 200 years after the storyline of GW, but in all honesty I like both the story and the gameplay of the original better.

I've not played anything Guild Wars related so the only thing I know about them is that Guild Wars 2 is a popular game XD.
I have all the original Guild Wars games including the expansion pack, and I tried Guild Wars 2 during one of their free preview events. It's nice you can play as different races in GW2, but aside from that... meh. I don't get its popularity.
I have gw2 but I don't play very often. . . Like if suze were to message me and say "hey play gw with me" i'd be right on but otherwise XD
i'm a loser XD i will stick to the original sims and paper mario
