In my school district back home they extended the school day by 10 minutes and SHORTENED summer by a few days. Something about a mandate in the mid-90s about kids needing to spend more time in school.

My school times have changed as of 2010. The Curriculum For Excellence came into place because the school inspectors wanted senior pupils to get at least two hours of physical education a week as well as more help planning their future.
So we now have seven fifty minute periods a day, a fifteen minute break and a forty five minute lunch. Lunch was significantly shortened, as were regular class times. Also we used to have registration in the mornings, but that was cut too. However, we get off at 2pm on Friday. |
