The look something like a gopher or a prairie dog I suppose. Big chipmunk maybe? The Vancouver Island Marmot is especially endangered, hovering in the two-digit numbers right now. The Olympic 2010 mascots had a little fanboy in the form of a Vancouver Island Marmot.

Yeah, I figured. Fortunately a good chunk of my familiy is British so my mom knows of such things! And we have a container of vegemite at home left by one of my sisters's friends visiting from Sydney.

I never really thought about the animal thing though, untill a college room (from Melbourne) commented that a squirrel looked something like a weasle with a fluffy tail. Makes sense. ;)
