Even though I had one class today, I can see problems coming my way. My shift doesn't end until 10:30 tonight. I HAVE to be out by 11 because of the 6 hour rule. I doubt I'll be out. |
If your shift ends at 10:30, don't they have to let you go? Or is it the silly "stay until we're done" crap that retail likes to pull?

At the first Wal-Mart I worked at, I had to do that. Only problem was, when they scheduled me for 40 hours one week, and I ended up with 44 hours, they yelled at me. I told them if they won't let me leave when my shift is over, they have to pay me overtime...

I just don't understand the "Don't clock in late, don't clock out early...don't go over your hours." Unless they want you to leave your area early and hover by the timeclock?

Exactly! You're not leaving early, you're just waiting to leave on time.
Like us, they expect you to clock in 5 before your shift, it's not mandatory, but they'd like you to be there. So if your shift is at 1, and you are there at 12:55 you're good. But if you walk in and clock in at 1, they ask why you're late. |
I don't understand all the "expectations" and such, when you aren't allowed to expect anything out of your managers...like them lifting a finger to help you perhaps.

Find a better job? Or, in my case, find a doctor to tell me what's wrong with me so I can get accommodations at work :p
