I like that Gamefreak is trying something so ballsy and new, but if they are doing something like this then all starter Pokemon better have a Mega Evolution, and they should have simply stuck with less popular Pokemon to give the Mega Evolution's too. Not already super popular, and uber popular Pokemon (Blaziken!? I mean really!? He's already in uber for being overpowering, now he's a uber UBER Pokemon!)

At least we're finally getting Speed Boost Blaziken.

Still not sure how I feel about Dedenne. It's pretty much a hamster Raichu. GameFreak, I get that you hate Raichu, but at least you could make it less obvious. ;-;

I'm interested to see how the mega evolutions work. Are they a temporary battle thing? Can they only occur during a battle? Etc., etc.

I do think I'll be getting Blaziken and Lucario at the very least...

I think in the trailer it said it could only occur during a battle. I don't know anything else about it though. A lot of pokemon I really like are getting mega evolutions, so I'm really interested to see how exactly they work and what different things they bring to a battle.

Well then, I guess the only major question is how long the evolutions last.....I really hope it's more permanent instead of just a battle-only sort of thing.

I'm really loving the forms for all of them....honestly I just want to...forgive this...CATCH THEM ALL!

I've been studying every little information we get about it.

It's actually somewhat balanced, basically once you enter a battle your Pokemon changes form because it's holding the mega stone thing. But it's not permanent because it's not a 4th evolution. It's more like achieving that Pokemon's maximum potential because it can't evolve any more.

By transforming the Stats (most likely exceeding the typical amount of stats given), and possibly the Type will change. Nothing else is confirmed on whether something else might change.

This is actually a great way to allow older Pokemon to get more use in battle, and to keep it so not every Pokemon has to have 3 stages of evolution.

My only two bits on it though is that every Starter should get a Mega Evolution to keep it Fair, and that they should try to keep Mega Evolutions apart from a generations Poke Count (How many new Pokemon are introduced per generation.)

It's a interesting concept, and unlike new generation Pokemon Game Freak could possibly even allow Free Game Updates/DLC that release more Mega Evolutions over time.

True that they could but the problem I see with it is that some people will say that they are catering or pandering to a specific group or even the fans in general without coming up with anything "original" by that point.

So...basically the concept is kinda like having a "Super Saiyan" evolution....xD

Hey I started thinking... Remember in Gen 2 games that Team Rocket was trying to force the Gyarados to evolve? I wonder if that was their attempt at Mega Evolution?

Have you guys seen the Kanto starter evolutions?! I don't like Blastoise's. D8 But still, the new trailer they released where it shows how the trainer gets them to Mega Evolve looks cool. xD

Really, I love Blastoise's! TRIPLE CANNON!I think Venusaur's could be better though. The trailer was super cool. And now I'm definitely betting every region's starter gets a mega evolution, since the Kanto ones and Blaziken have them. I wonder if tons of pokemon will have them.

GameFreak is really trying to keep me from choosing a Fennekin as my starter Pokemon.... A free Speed Boost Torchic, and a choice between the 3 Kanto starters... UUUGGGGHHHHH. DAMMIT GAMEFREAK I MIGHT JUST BUY POKEMON Y! X.X.

It's going to be a Fire/Psychic, one of the leaker's confirmed that the secondary typings of the starters would be Grass/Dark, Water/Fighting, and Fire/Psychic respectively. (Same person who revealed some early X and Y details.)
That and I wouldn't find it too surprising regardless because Gamefreak tried experimenting with Dark/Fighting/Psychic pokemon as starters during the (I want to say 3rd gen...) 4th gen.

But seriously the game is out in a month and we still haven't seen the Starter's final evolution yet. IT'S BOTHERING THE F**K OUT OF ME!

Have they confirmed if you're getting the Kanto starter at the beginning or some time later in the game?

This info was leaked months ago by the Pokebeach leaker, and he didn't clarify then either. So it's unknown when Sycamore will give you the starters. My guess is probably after you beat the game.
Also if you want some extra delicious leak news, that leaker also told us that your more friendly rival will give you their fully evolved Pokemon. My guess is that if it's the more friendly rival is that their Pokemon is the starter Pokemon that is weakest to yours. (You started with Fennekin, they give you a fully evolved Chespin at end game.) So it's something else to think about when choosing your starter. I might just pick Froakie so I can also get Fennekin's final evolution and then just breed them.

I ALWAYS start with the water starter on every game... but Fennekin is so freaking cute, there's no way I can NOT pick it. 8D

I always pick the water starter, but I think Chespin is adorable. I usually HATE grass types, but I think he's so cute!

I'm not a fan of fire types in general for some reason. Maybe because I usually have a flying type, and that covers almost all of fire's advantages.
