"They just haven't gotten to it." Mihael frowned. "That's what my agent keeps saying, anyway."
"I read the script," She scoffed. "L doesn't die. Well, he does, but he beats Kira first."
"Son-of-a-bitch!" Mihael burst before glaring at Lawliet.
"...Different actor." Lawliet put his hands up. |
"Tell me about it!" Missy cried, her eyes narrowed at the road ahead of her. "They're using a brunette for Misa! She's supposed to be a dumb blonde, hello!?"
"I'm not complaining." Lawliet replied. "But they're keeping Light."
"Big surprise." Mihael sighed. |
"I actually heard they were getting Zac Effron to play his part," Missy commented.
"No wonder he's blowing a total gasket!" Mihael burst into laughter.
"He's not an engine." Lawliet blinked. "Look, that's the limo!" Mihael pointed. |
"Well, duh," Missy snorted, rolling her eyes. "This is Chester's place... the place of the party you asked to go to."
"This asshole has his own studio?" Mihael frowned.
"He's one of the highest paid photographers in the world," Missy commented. "No wonder he has Nate wrapped around his finger. A kid like him has probably never even seen a limo, let alone been in one..."
She pulled into the parking are and pulled to a stop. "There's Mail-Box's car," She commented. "Or one that looks just like it, at least." |
"...Mailbox?" Mihael blinked and turned in his seat to look.
"Mail," Missy sighed. "His name is spelled like Mail, you know... Just said differently."
"Oh for the love of..." Mihael pushed his door open and climbed out.
"...Are we going?" Lawliet asked Missy. |
"Do you want to?" She replied, ignoring her brother as he stormed off.
"I haven't taken you out in a while." Lawliet commented.
She gave a smile and turned off her car.
-- "You had to 'make an appearance' at your own party?" Nate asked Chester as they stood on the balcony, watching people around them mingle and chat. |
"It's polite of the host." Chester replied as he looked through the people. "This kind of exposure will help that career of yours along...not more posing for forty-year-old men on cheap internet sites for what meager change you can. Now you're well on your way to stardom."
Nate's eyes slowly went wide and his cheeks turned pink. "H-how did you know about that...!?"
"Don't worry, I'm not going to criticize the work." Chester said. "Even though I can imagine you took all of those photos yourself before posting them...I even caught the glare from a mirror on a few, but really there was a distraction from the quality of the pictures."
"Those were private photos," Nate hissed, obviously embarrassed. "That guy swore he wouldn't share them...!"
"That 'guy' ran a pay site for Albino pictures." Chester chuckled. "You never bothered to look? Did you even get paid?"
"Yeah... he gave me fifty bucks," Nate scoffed, looking away. "What a douche bag... How did you find them?"
"My job...my mission is to find beautiful things to immortalize." Chester replied- seeming surprised Nate had even asked the question in the first place.
"...So you looked at an albino porn site?" Nate asked, lifting an eyebrow.
"You popped up on Google, you're part of the free tour." Chester offered. "I didn't want to play your efforts down with that information."
He put an arm around Nate's shoulder and pulled him a little closer. |
"Eh, not surprised," Nate said, shrugging. He then leaned into Chester's touch. "Those photos were absolute crap, anyways. And I photo shopped them to make my face look different. High contrast and the liquefy tool make for an entirely new Nate!"
"I could tell the difference, I knew you'd worked on it." Chester smiled. "I have an eye for natural beauty."
"You're kind of a creeper," Nate pointed out, though he was smiling.
"But only for you...surprisingly." Chester laughed as he turned to Nate- his hands falling on the smaller boy's hips. "...We can cut the party if you like...maybe hit the shops and buy you that pair of pants?"
"That sounds-" Nate started to say when they heard a crash inside and he frowned, looking toward the sound.
"Damn it, is it another brawl?" Chester leaned over the rail and peered into the crowd.
Nate groaned as he spotted a head of red hair amongst the gathering crowd. "I'll be right back..."
He slipped away from Chester and headed inside, taking the stairs and going into the mass of people. Slinking in between them as if they were nothing but air, Nate eventually caught up with the redhead he'd been looking for. "Mail!" |
"Hey there." Mail smiled pleasantly. "Where you been hidin'?"
Glancing over at where the crowd was gathering, only to see that someone had smashed a vase by accident, Nate sighed. "You're not here to crash this party, are you?"
"Of course not." Mail replied- giving a devious smile. "Your other boyfriend know I'm here yet?"
"What do you mean, my 'other' boyfriend?" Nate groaned. He grabbed Mail's arm and started tugging him upstairs.
"Hey, there he is!" Missy hissed to her brother, pointing to the albino boy as he headed up the stairs. |
"With that moron!" Mihael breathed hotly before storming off.
"Oh dear, I guess this party was short-lived." Lawliet sighed. "Oh, taking me up to the suite already?" Mail laughed. |
"Trying to get out of the crowd," Nate said. "I can't stand being in them..."
"We could go someplace to be alone." Mail offered.
"I don't care where we go, so long as we're away from these people," Nate groaned, feeling his chest constrict a little as he fought to get air.
