I'm currently in a food coma. @u@ But here's something I made a few weeks ago:

It's from Oblivion Island. :3 One of my favorite underrated movies.

Inspire 11-23-2018 09:56 AM

Ahhhh, I couldn't eat much at all for Thanksgiving, there was very few things I could actually eat from the table. Thankfully, I at least got apple pie that had the crust made with plant butter instead of regular butter. But that is cute, the colors look great together!!!!

Kaderin Triste 11-23-2018 05:09 PM

I'm angry because I wanna upload a pic of Derpy with his Christmas tree, but the internet at Joann is shit and keeps timing out, so I have to either find another wifi spot after work, or wait until Monday...

Inspire 11-23-2018 05:33 PM

That sounds absolutely awful and infuriating Kaderin, I most certainly hope you can find a way to be happy again!!! Also, I'd love to see the candy themed Christmas tree!!! Sounds amazingly different and fun!!!

Death by Mirrors 11-23-2018 06:00 PM

Blergh, I hate when that happens. The internet on my library workplace is sub-par as well, so I've pretty much given up on doing anything important there unless during emergencies. At least the lab has a good connection.

Let's hope Joann gets a better connection eventually. *sends Kaderin some hot beverage while she waits*

Stabbsworth 11-23-2018 06:05 PM

Hewwo?

Lol. I'm not really not happy. Just mad at the bad internet. XD
But despite working black Friday, it's been a good day and I've had a lot of really nice customers who I've been able to chat and joke around with.

Mmmm....mysterious hot beverage...lol
Would actually kill for cocoa right now. Or a latte.

Hopefully can swing by Target or Walgreens on the way home (need some batteries for the tree lights still), BUT if you have Instagram and aren't already following, follow or find @DerpyMcblueeyes to see tree and decorating the tree pics (and other adventures)!
Edit:Ah, j/k, if I wanna find wifi, I gotta hit Target, not Walgreens. XD

Inspire 11-24-2018 12:40 AM

Omggg, that sounds so amazing and what I've been striving for after this job hunt ends!!! It's been almost a month since I applied for at least five jobs and I've heard from none, it's getting disheartening... I would just love to parade around and clean and help others and omggg, I want to work sooo bad, you know?!?? You're making me want two jobs instead of one extra hard, my my!!! Ahhhh yeah, I don't have Instagram or any other social media app, I don't even have Facebook to be honest. After 9 years of using it, I just gave it all up. I didn't need it when I became an adult, believe it or not, hahaha.

Kaderin Triste 11-24-2018 01:16 AM

Yeah, I gave up Facebook too tbh
And I don't miss it at all. But I do have 2 Instagram accounts (one account for me, which is rare random posts of craft projects, my cats, and super rare nail art and the other account is for Derpy).
As for having 2 jobs? Not as fun as it sounds. Days off are usually VERY rare and it can be just exhausting. Extra money around the holidays thanks to a slight increase on hours at the one job can be nice though. Although I suppose it can all depend on the jobs as well.
OMG yes please come clean for me I am exhausted and can pay you in neat chainmaille jewelry, loom knit scalemaille gloves, and adorable stuffed animals!
XD

trystan830 11-24-2018 01:23 AM

i have facebook, instagram, snapchat and twitter.

and two jobs, but one is monday to thursday, the other friday to sunday. and if i don't request off, yep, i'm working 7 days in a row for the most part. but it's only like 6 hours a day, and i have most of my nights free XD

Damies 11-24-2018 02:58 AM

I need ideas for stuff to make with my cricut, like I have it and now I am all "wat do?"

Kaderin Triste 11-24-2018 03:02 AM

CUSTOM NAIL VINYLS!

Damies 11-24-2018 03:36 AM

OMG YES!
But what designs? o Ao

Kaderin Triste 11-24-2018 03:57 AM

I demand dragons.

Damies 11-24-2018 04:07 AM

that sounds difficult ; 0;

Kaderin Triste 11-24-2018 04:55 AM

I mean....like a dragon silhouette. Not like an in depth, detailed dragon...

Damies 11-24-2018 05:17 AM

Still difficult! But I may be on to something.....

Edit: I lied it looks nothing like a dragon at fingernail size ; n;

Pic of "roaring dragon" nail vinyl test result ; n;

Editagain: This looks more like a phoenix than a dragon ;0; also I dropped it and all sorts of fun junk before I got it photographed so it's survived a lot. xD

Edit Again: Finally done for the night.... at 2:15 am.

Don't have any facebook, instagram, twitter or whatever other social media there is. My internet life is pretty much dedicated to particular interests: Trisphee for the avatars, Ravelry for yarn crafts, and a german crafts forum for all other stuff that is not yarn. But I managed to find a photo of Derpy's tree on a site that apparently draws its feed from instagram, and I love the candy ornaments and gingerbread star on top. White color was a surprise, for some reason I expected a regular green tree even though Derpy never said it was green.

Damies, how about Christmas cards? I bet you could make some awesome silhouettes with your cricut.

Kaderin Triste 11-24-2018 06:32 AM

Lol. The tree has some pretty iridescent bits in the branches and it just seemed the most "Derpy" option. Partly because the shimmery white branches could look like they're all sparkly and sugar coated and partly because Derpy likes shiny things and rainbows and it was the closest to holo I could get. (Although the holo is mainly just my desire...)

And also, I hoped that the cats would be less likely to chew on a white tree than they were my green tree that I got rid of several years ago because they wouldn't leave it the fuck alone and I didn't want them to get sick from accidentally eating the fake tree bits. Unfortunately, it's apparently a texture thing, not color, so it has to be kept high up on my bookshelf anyway...

Damies: Lol. Definitely more phoenix than dragon, but tbh, I could make that work... >.>

Thank you! ^^ If that compliment was for me, anyway. xD

Damies 11-24-2018 03:56 PM

@Death: I have thought about cards but I have trouble coming up with ideas for cards. xnx

Kaderin: I think that may be as close as I get because of size issues. Nail art size stuff is hard to manage. ; n;

Death by Mirrors 11-24-2018 05:55 PM

Depending on whether you want classical cards or geeky, there's plenty of options. It's easy to spend hours on pinterest or similar sites. I think I'll be sending a fellow Game of Thrones fan one with a snowman dressed up as the night watch's most famous bastard Jon Snow and a slight twist on the original quote - "You know nothing, Jon Snowman". Been pondering to do the always symbol from Harry Potter as a christmas tree, but then again I don't know if Potter fans would perceive it as a declaration of love, and that could be awkward.

As for classical, lots of trees, stars, bells and ornaments do the trick. Different colors and textures, and you suddenly have a whole lot of variation.

Damies 11-24-2018 06:49 PM

Is it page 200 yet? 8D

@Death: I hate pinterest sooooo much it drives me insane. But I may have to deal with it for inspiration. ;n;

Damies 11-24-2018 06:50 PM

DOUBLE POST OOPS

Kaderin Triste 11-24-2018 06:56 PM

I hate how popular Pinterest is. Because literally everyone is like "oh, you should check Pinterest!", but I just really don't get the point of it because 98% of the time, it's just the image and not actual instructions or pattern. And I just don't have the time to click through 20+ people's pin boards or whatever they're called, just to find the original source only to have the original pattern/instructions be no longer available.

Death by Mirrors 11-24-2018 07:08 PM

I actually agree with that, it's super tedious to hunt down a pattern there. If I want instructions or patterns, I rather check instructables instead. But for a quick overview of what people have made, images alone suffice.

Kaderin Triste 11-24-2018 07:33 PM

Anymore, depending on what I'm searching for, I either go with instructables, ravelry, or YouTube.

Kaderin Triste 11-25-2018 02:02 AM

Sooo....when I got to work today I discovered that we actually had a surprisingly large quantity of the kitties in space fabric. So I bought almost 4.5 yards of it. It was 60% off PLUS employee discount...
Should be plenty for a skirt and extra in case I mess up.

KittyBeary 11-25-2018 05:37 AM

Now it's at page 200. xD

Death by Mirrors 11-25-2018 08:04 AM

Sounds like an amazing skirt. And if you don't mess up, you can sew a matching pillow case, or upcycle an old shirt. Or... well, I think you already know how to find inspiration.

Makes me wonder, does anyone of you hobbyists know a site similar to ravelry, but for sewing?

Inspire 11-25-2018 10:27 AM

Those nail art designs look amazing, Damies. The work put in is so obviously shown and the colors look great together, you did an amazing job. Also, Kitty, it was most definitely directed towards you and I'm so glad you enjoyed reading it.

I was thinking maybe I'll save any extra I have and learn to quilt. Throw it in with some other cat and galaxy/space prints.

As for sewing sites similar to Ravelry, the only one I really found through a quick google search is Textillia. The only downside to the site that I can see so far is that after the first month free, you either have to pay for a subscription ($20 per year) or just give up.

Stabbsworth 11-25-2018 06:20 PM

i used to do cross stitch.

Kaderin Triste 11-25-2018 06:48 PM

Teach me cross stitch so I can make pretty things!
It seems like a fairly easy to customize thing.

Inspire 11-25-2018 10:49 PM

The cat stitches keep sounding more and more amazing, Kaderin. I'm sure you'll do really well.

Kaderin Triste 11-25-2018 11:41 PM

Lol. I always make big plans and then never follow through. XD
Fingers crossed I actually make something with the fabric soon.

Death by Mirrors 11-26-2018 05:33 AM

Thanks for the link ^^

Big plans you never follow through on?

Yeah. I have saved around 100 different craft tutorials I want to try, and that's not even counting the 124 knit and crochet projects in my ravelry queue.

Cross stitch is actually fairly easy, it just takes a bit of practice to look neat (and a lot of patience if you plan bigger projects). Here's two youtube tutorial videos to get you started:

KittyBeary 11-26-2018 08:36 AM

I'll have to check out those videos when I start doing cross stitch! I've been thinking of trying it... :3

Witchchylde 11-26-2018 10:15 AM

Still haven't replaced the sewing machine I got conned into leaving behind eight years ago when we relocated halfway across the country.
