I should probably try to think up something for a present for my dad and brother, but tbh they're exceptionally difficult to buy or make stuff for.
Most of my ongoing projects are just stuff to add to my bucket of things to sell.

trystan830 11-29-2018 03:53 PM

i'm getting the two kids of one of my cousins visa gift cards - that way they can buy whatever they'd like themselves.

Kaderin Triste 11-29-2018 03:58 PM

I....could maybe do that. Although I might only be able to put like $10-$15 on them depending on my hours at Joann...

That's a really beautiful puzzle, Damies. You're doing a great job.

That's a great idea Trystan, you're quite smart when it comes to gifts.

Stabbsworth 11-30-2018 04:26 PM

been writing some roleplay stuff recently. it's fun.

Inspire 12-02-2018 02:42 AM

I want to get into role-play again but it's like I can never find a reason to?? I mean, I had an amazing chance once, made a couple OCs and everything but I just didn't feel as if I was good at all and that started making me depressed so I just up and quit it. I know very heavily that was a mistake so I want to try again. I know I'm into reading far more than any of the creative stuff though. Specifically drawing and writing. The thing is, I hate writing so that's another thing holding me back. It's so off and weird, I swear, hahaha.

Kaderin Triste 12-02-2018 02:47 AM

Can I just say....SAME.
Except I don't actually hate writing, I just feel like everyone else is far superior at writing than I am, so I am too intimidated to do any real rps. And I tend to get bored and quit early on in them.
Have a small army of OCs from ages ago though. XD

aww, thanks!

Inspire 12-02-2018 02:53 AM

Ahhhhh, we're in the same boat then, hahahaha!!! I remember one was a guitar player with a great personality since I have a huge interest in music and opera and such (I need to figure that out too, so much to do!!!) I also remember one was a girl named Kalia but that's all I remember for the OCs. I feel that way a lot too, seeing such glorious things others can do with imagery and such. But I always read anyway because it's so interesting and special too!!

Of course, it's so easy to compliment you, you make it easy, hahaha.

*high-fives Inspire*
Back in high school, I wanted to be a writer actually (among other things), but I discovered I'm far too critical of myself to ever succeed at it. And I struggle with plots as well.
I still have all the info for my characters (although for some it's not much more than name and basic appearance), but over 80% of them have probably never been used for anything.
Oooh....guitar player! That would be an interesting character. Do you remember if they were made for a specific reason or just because it sounded fun? Also, Kalia is a pretty name!

Inspire 12-02-2018 04:31 AM

Hahahaha, I love the high fiving, that's so cool!!! I remember how when I was like 10-12 and possibly a little over that, I sat outside on a blanket writing poems!!! They were mostly goth type ones to be honest, that was my thing then, hahaha. I threw it all away at the last couple houses we lived in and that was it for the OCs, haha. I figured there was no point in keeping them, another reason I never got a time to do it again. It was to me, quite so!!! It was my favorite of them, I spent the most time on him to be honest!!! No I don't actually but I wish I did, my favorite things were OCs and creativity with role-playing. It is, I had a phase of wanting to change my name to it, I've loved it since I've heard it!!!

KittyBeary 12-02-2018 04:45 AM

I had raspberry hot cocoa the other night. Woot woot.

Death by Mirrors 12-02-2018 05:56 AM

Personally I think the main goal at roleplay is to have fun, not to be super awesome good at it. Of course I also get what y'all mean about being really critical. Hence why I sometimes hesitate to RP in English, even though I think my grammar is decent at least (but these two or three times when I picked a wrong word are the ones which tend to stick in my mind).

Sooner or later I want to go back to pen and paper roleplay via roll20 - of course, an actual round around a friend's dinner table would be cool too, but I always tend to have friends who either live in another country or don't like RP much.

Maybe that's an option if you hate writing or are conscious about your work's quality. It's pretty much just building characters and then describing what they do and/or dialogue. If you don't know what to do, there's always the players guide to back you up. Either way, fun first. Quality comes with practice.

Stabbsworth 12-02-2018 11:46 AM

i really hate tumblr's formatting shit in the rp community. like, why the hell do you need to use double-small text in all your replies. small text is small enough.

don't get me started on icons.

Kaderin Triste 12-02-2018 11:54 AM

Like Dungeons and Dragons style? I don't have enough local friends, but an online version would be fun.
DUNGEONS & DERPY!

"Yes. New skirt pwease."

Kaderin Triste 12-02-2018 12:41 PM

Guess I'm buying some elastic after work today...
(For Derpy and me actually...)

update: Store WAY too busy for me to pull a manager off task to ring me up. Will buy elastic later.
Going to work on tiny Derpy size tie blanket instead (coffee print on one side, sonuts on the other).

Update 2: Blanket done!

(The other side is purple with bright rainbows and colorful donuts, but the pic is stubbornly refusing to upload properly as usual.

Inspire 12-03-2018 11:47 AM

That blanket is so perfect and desireable!!! I love how there's two side likes a quilt!!! I'd use the blanket all the time, I ADORE coffee and the purple!!! You did soooo good!!!!

Stabbsworth 12-03-2018 03:45 PM

very nice.

size 7 is apparently the limit.

Linkle 12-03-2018 04:11 PM

Question! Would a hobby like say, Tabletop RPGs count towards this? They....sure do take up money and spare time and boy howdy do they sometimes consume me.

Stabbsworth 12-03-2018 04:13 PM

sdhskjhdksh probably.

i'd like to get back into coding so that i can make some real quick shitty games like an animal crossing ripoff, but i'd also like to get a decent computer so that i can do several things on there. like youtube shit.

Linkle 12-03-2018 04:16 PM

yay! Because I can go on for HOURS about D&D/Pathfinder/Tabletops in general.

Coding sounds like a lot of work, Maybe a hoebrew rig might be good for multiple things?

Stabbsworth 12-03-2018 04:20 PM

i've been meaning to get into DND, but there's no fucking clubs like that around here, because this town's a shithole. all the cockney people are coming over and people are robbing from stores, and i'm just sitting here, not being able to do shit about it tbh.

i think i looked into a computer engineering club in primary school? but there's no way i'd be able to build a computer myself, haha.

Kaderin Triste 12-03-2018 04:28 PM

All hobbies count! They don't have to be arts and crafts!

Inspire: aww, thanks! I actually really want to buy more of the fleeces now and make myself a matching blanket. But I also 2anna pay the bills... XD

Linkle 12-03-2018 04:35 PM

Voidbarker, it's fun. I rec finding online groups. usually they weet weekly, and you play over Discord and Roll20, and it's about the same as a Face-To-Face group!

My friend wants to help me build my own rig, which is nice but my current one is well...my baby.

Stabbsworth 12-03-2018 04:39 PM

honestly, i love blogs that chronicle the shit that dnd players say. especially if it's a fucking bard trying to seduce the big bad and rolling a nat20.

i suck with numbers and such, so i'd probably make for a crappy dm.

i, uh, mostly want a better computer for my personal use, honestly. i've been thinking about streaming and such, too. the laptop that i got about... uh, 4 years ago, it has a crap battery and overheats when i try and record with OBS for about 10 minutes. i can still record with it, but it WILL overheat over the 10 minute mark.

the battery also wasn't crap until this year, i think. it's still fairly decent, but it needs to be plugged in. also, on the rare times it does overheat from normal use (i.e: when i'm not recording like a fucking loon), that's probably helped with the battery degradation. that, and it was pre-owned.

my dad's laptop is a bit better than my own, haha. the reason why i'm using his now is bc the charger for my laptop is making a whining sound and i don't trust it. galla's even noted my paranoia w/ electronics, haha!

Linkle 12-03-2018 04:47 PM

5e is fairly lenient with numbers, but I take more pleasure in playing over DMing. My advice for it is find a group that can help, a lot of newbies are getting into the D&D scene, so people willing to teach aren't hard to find!

Personally my last computer had to be given away since my S/O needed it for work, so i wound up getting something strong enough for my online gaming hobbies. If you never wind up needing to replace that comp best buy tends to have Ok refurbs.

Stabbsworth 12-03-2018 04:57 PM

we have a computer in another place, and that has fairly decent specs. hell, it can run destiny 2 if you decrease the graphics, i'd wager.

i5 processor and a nvidia geforce gtx 660 gpu.

the laptop that's mine has an i3 processor, and probably an intel card. my dad's laptop has an i7 processor and an intel graphics hd 4400 gpu.

ideally, the computer i'm looking at for personal use would have an older-gen i7 processor and a nvidia geforce gtx 1080ti card, but i'll probably go a lot lower than that for the card.

Linkle 12-03-2018 05:00 PM

I'm running a i7 with nvidia geforce gtx, so nice! I don't think i have ever owned a nicer computer.

it's a lot of money though. Worth saving for however, if you ask me.

Stabbsworth 12-03-2018 05:02 PM

yeah. i think i've got around £900 saved up in savings right now?

i think, just for the gpu, it'd probably require £1000 odd, considering the current shortage.

Linkle 12-03-2018 05:05 PM

Hey, you're getting there! I'd definitely try looking at ebay or places like newegg for stuff!

Stabbsworth 12-03-2018 05:08 PM

i know a couple sites that do prebuilt computers, and you can put in individual specs and such.

i'll have to ask dad about it.

Linkle 12-03-2018 05:10 PM

it's def worth looking into to say the least!

Stabbsworth 12-03-2018 05:12 PM

i've actually been saving up for a long time. did spend some money on steam cards, though.

i get around 40£ a month from weekend work.

Linkle 12-03-2018 05:14 PM

Steam cards, damn you steam! Always taking money out of our wallets and accounts!

40's not bad, depending on if you use some of it to do other things it wont take you too much longer it seems.

Stabbsworth 12-03-2018 05:18 PM

perhaps! i got the binding of isaac on a discount bc of a steam sale, haha. and don't starve together, which i gave a copy to Polaris bc Steam gave me an extra, giftable copy bc of the sale.

Linkle 12-03-2018 05:21 PM

I mean sounds like it was worth it!

Stabbsworth 12-03-2018 05:22 PM

it was! TBOI:A+ is a game w/ a lot of replay value, haha. And Don't Starve Together looks pretty decent, it was made by Klei.
