Suzerain of Sheol 06-10-2013 02:28 PM

Tell my body to stop crippling me so I can get back to fun things already...

Seriously, it's been almost 3 months since surgery. This is getting ridiculous.

Espy 06-10-2013 03:01 PM

Immune system being douchebaggy?

Suzerain of Sheol 06-10-2013 03:36 PM

Not really. I spend probably half of every day screaming in helpless agony from intestinal cramping, despite being on nothing but restricted fluids.

Espy 06-10-2013 04:29 PM

-cringe-

Doesn't exactly sound like a food problem, then -- more like you're missing certain vitamins.

EDIT: Which IS a food problem, but not in the same sense.

Suzerain of Sheol 06-10-2013 05:32 PM

I honestly have no idea; missing most of my large intestine makes things complicated. All I know is I didn't have this pain when I came home, whether it's my intestines getting back into working gear or I have some kind of problem going on... who knows?

My doctor is useless on the subject, just tells me to give it time. Easy for him to say when it's been nearly three months since I could eat anything.

Anyway, I was actually considering a reboot of Eschaton when I'm finally up for it, since I'm not sure how many of us are still even around. I know Quiet is, if anything, worse off than I am. Anyone from this who wanted in would have an automatic spot, but new blood might be fun, too. Thoughts?

Espy 06-10-2013 05:52 PM

What would a "reboot" consist of?

Arikana 06-10-2013 06:19 PM

I want in. I never got much chance to do much with the old/current one. D:

And if your current doctor isn't being of much use, why not go see another one for a second opinion?

Suzerain of Sheol 06-10-2013 07:01 PM

Basically starting a new story in the setting, I'd be okay with bringing in your characters, though.

And Ari, because he's my surgeon and I need to go back for another major surgery from him in a couple months. I'd prefer it be him, since he knows my insides better than anyone else, and he *is* the kind of narcissistic, god-complex egomaniac that he'd kick me to the curb for daring to question his opinion on my treatment. Or at least be severely displeased, if not hostile, about "going behind his back" as he would see it.

Arikana 06-10-2013 07:42 PM

Well, I guess looking for a new surgeon would be out of the question then. >_> I hope you'll soon be able to eat again.

Espy 06-10-2013 07:51 PM

O.o Narcisisstic doctors.

Hm...So, the new RP would be a clean slate, or would it basically be a timeskip with new people? Because having to re-meet characters might get awkward. Also, would the amplitude of power (nerfing Lev's power a bit, maybe? But Lev is pretty well-developed, and buffing up Dante's) be changed?

Suzerain of Sheol 06-11-2013 09:11 AM

You mean re-meeting as in the sheer coincidence of them coming across each other again? Yeah... that could be slightly awkward. I'm sure we could make it work, though, even to the point of them still traveling together. If we went back in time to more of a "prequel" that would be more difficult....

And honestly, I never had an issue with Lev's power level, if anything most of the rest of the group was too weak to really interact with much of the setting given how high-powered it is. I mean, we basically needed a Deus ex Machina to get past Cain...

It's up to the group though, depends what people want. *If* we end up doing a reboot. Which is why I was asking for opinions on it.

Serra Britt 06-11-2013 12:33 PM

I'm "here" in the sense that I'm still visiting Tris at least 3 times a week, I just don't post much anymore. I'm fine with going along with whatever everyone else wants. Not sure how comfortable I am with powering up Fee...I mean, that doesn't seem much in her nature to pursue power.

Nah, I meant re-meeting as in, "Oh hey, I don't know you at all". A reboot would be interesting, although I tend to let my imagination run away in terms of characters. Ten years into the future, Dante might have a twelve year old son that he /actually knows about/.

This'd probably also depend on how many RPers actually like the setting of this RP. I for one would most likely be interested (obviously).

Salone 06-11-2013 03:13 PM

I would definitely like to be in round two. And am okay with whatever changes need to be made.

Just get feeling up to snuff first, Suze.

EDIT: And a fresh start might let me do a few things...differently.

That sounds millly terrifying.

Hehe.... Good.

I meant mildly. I can't type on a phone.

Oh, it's fine. I do want to redo him though. Make him a bit more scary and focusing on unhinged and illogical mental states to scare, rather than using raw gore.

There will still be gore though. Something about utterly corrupting the physical avatar of a creature is satisfying. When I was a kid I thought that if a monster killed someone, it claimed their very soul. Is what I sort of had in mind for Na'lsa.

Suzerain of Sheol 08-09-2013 11:08 AM

Just wanted to let everyone know I'm alive. I made it through my heart surgery just fine, and I'm working on recovering and finally getting home. Feeling mostly okay besides the nagging feeling that someone had at my sternum with a power saw....

We'll see about getting this going again once I get back. Hope everyone's keeping well. :)

Espy 08-09-2013 11:38 AM

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE-/shot

My intuition apparently has good timing. (Dreamed that Esch was back up and running again.)

Arikana 08-09-2013 10:17 PM

o3o Nice dreams, Espy. I wish I had some really intuitive dreams regarding my own life.

I can't wait for Esch to start back up. I miss it, especially so since I haven't really been a part of it for too long before it became stagnant.

Suzerain of Sheol 08-24-2013 07:44 PM

So. I'm home now and doing reasonably well, all things considered. I think I'm ready to try and get this going again.

Can we get a roll call, please?

And I'd like to discuss how we want to continue, as well, and get that hammered out.

Espy 08-24-2013 08:19 PM

I'm heeeeeere.

...Your avi is horrifying (I had my screen tilted a bit too far back.)

Arikana 08-24-2013 09:57 PM

I'm here too!

Salone 08-24-2013 10:06 PM

Oh, I'm still creeping around.

Espy 08-24-2013 10:10 PM

...I clicked on this thread just as this song came up.

Suzerain of Sheol 08-24-2013 10:39 PM

So, if we did do a reboot, one of the things we really need to hash out is the power level, since I think we all saw how unbalanced things got with the disparity we had going. I think things would go a lot smoother if everyone was on the same page, or at least in the same chapter, so to speak. And we could do anything from Call of Cthulu-esque hopeless, helpless horror to epic level army-smashing fireworks. I *think* we were originally shooting for sort of mid-line "adventurers" last time, but things somehow spiraled.

Thoughts?

Or we could try to continue if you'd prefer, do a little shuffling, maybe timeskip a tiny bit. We're in an area ripe for all sorts of "quests" so to speak, so we can go in pretty much any direction.

Maybe a few examples of what kind of power level? LOTR characters (they would be approximately mid-range for me) or most earlier Final Fantasy characters vs say, Wolverine, who's OPed as hell but STILL not as much as Superman or Ironman (more recently). I could add Batman to that list, I guess.

That also sounds interesting. In the case of a timeskip, we'd have to figure out a way to have the characters that are rolling over from the original RP all happen to meet up again. And obviously the fates of the inactive characters might be brought up in smalltalk or inner thoughts.

If we do a parallel universe sort of thing or just a complete restart of this universe, would our characters still know each other, or would things be completely reset?

Suzerain of Sheol 08-25-2013 12:14 AM

On power, I think we were getting toward the high end of the scale in the Cain fight, what with him ripping he entire temple apart with his whirlwind and tanking Uriel's sword to the face. The next step up would have to be NPCs like Abaddon or the False Prophet who are just LOLNO. Lowest low end would be absolutely mundane people, but that would be rather boring I think.

I guess we really need to look at what we're up against. Even the weakest enemies, the Dybbuk are fast-zombies with no brain weakness that you have to completely dismemeber to take down by normal means. :| A Rephaim is a 20-ft tall bullet-timing armored undead freak with psychic hypno whispers and a buster sword. Demons, not that we ever encountered any, are straight-up reality-warping eldritch horrors with bad, bad side effects from just being around them. And I think we all know what Nephilim are capable of... :P

So, I'm thinking we all need to be at least some kind of superhuman, just to be able to survive most of time. Maybe not quite to the same degree Na'lsa, Shealtiel, and Asasiah were by the end, but somewhere in the middle, make sense?

Also, just to throw it out there, there's no reason artificers or soldiers couldn't have totally twinked-out cyber body-mods and stuff that would level the playing field with the magic-y types. I don't think we used enough super-tech last around, anyone who wants to give it a try can get creative with it.

Anyway, when I said timeskip I meant like maybe a week to a month, I figured the group would still be mostly together minus anyone who drifted away. Longer than that would require more planning, as you pointed out.

And at the last point, we can do whatever seems like the funnest option, that's why I'm asking for you guys' opinions on it. ;)

Espy 08-25-2013 12:51 AM

If we just did a timeskip, it would start out with the old characters being sort-of accepted people in Thyatria, yeah...?

And yeah, most of us probably have to rework our characters a bit o.o;; I hope I've gotten better with character design in the past two years.

Suzerain of Sheol 08-25-2013 12:56 AM

Yeah, that sounds about right.

And yeah,I'm about 90% sure I'll be making someone new. Kind of hard to play an intangible wraith that bleeds OMGWHY EVIL into his immediate vicinity. :P

Salone 08-25-2013 07:10 AM

Na'lsa could use a bit of a nerf. Besides, I want to play him a bit more mysterious, a bit more performing his horrifying things in a more human body. More a question of is Na'lsa a real thing, or is Lev just that much of a madman?

Just need more Lev. He was the original character anyway.

Suzerain of Sheol 08-25-2013 12:50 PM

I like where this is going.

And I think one of the issues with playing at a higher power level is that it gets to the point of rocket launcher tag eventually. I mean it doesn't have to but it's easy to slip into that paradigm where were either totally outclassed by anything higher on the totem pole or we stomp all over anything in our path. Kind of reminds me of Disgaea endgame come to think of it..... :P

Arikana 08-25-2013 06:13 PM

You guys either talk a lot in a day or I just miss out on stuff from not being on for an entire day. >3>

Anyways, I'm good with wherever we go. I was planning on speeding up Ei'lycia's powers for a bit to match the strength of the rest of your characters rather than doing it all at once.

Perhaps a timeskip in a little bit after Ei'lycia has at least been more integrated with the rest of the group?

Suzerain of Sheol 08-25-2013 10:57 PM

I think it might be easier to have her get involved with them in the beginning here at this point, we're probably going to have to ret-con the last bit of the campaign to make things fit. I basically figure most of the group more or less drifted away/settled into Thyat'ria/drifted into the void (*coughShealtielcough*), leaving.... it look like Lev and Dante still somehow sticking it out. I'll leave the how up to you two! Or they coincidentally cross paths again.... which is stretching things a little, I think.

Anyway, was thinking they start picking up jobs from Zaccheus, which gets them in proximity to Ei'lycia (and you can work from there, Ari, on how she integrates), and gives an opening for any other characters to join up as fellow mercs hired for the mission.

Sound maybe sort of vaguely all right?

Also, if I were to make a new thread, is it bad form to link to the old one for all the setting info rather than copying it over?

Espy 08-25-2013 11:25 PM

I would be fine w just linking the setting, but not the characters, since we're reworking them and need new char profiles.

The thing w Lev and Dante hanging around might be fine; Dante could probably get along reasonably well with normal-Lev. I'll also have to think about how I'm going to rework his character; will post or PM my ideas later.

Arikana 08-25-2013 11:31 PM

Sounds good to me. And I don't see a problem with linking the thread for setting purposes either.

I don't think I'll need to rework Ei'lycia much since I haven't really done much with her and can simply continue with her beginning to come into her full powers.

Suzerain of Sheol 08-25-2013 11:32 PM

Oh, that's what I meant, we'd have a new space for profiles.

And yeah, you should be fine, Ari.

I need to come up with my new character now....

Salone 08-26-2013 04:03 AM

I'll need to do a definite overhaul. Maybe this will spur me on, I've been rather...well, drained lately. Creatively.

Espy 08-27-2013 01:02 AM

I asked Dante if he wanted a haircut. He looked horrified.
