Fallout 3 is worth the play whenever you are able....as is New Vegas.
You can jump into the latest game for Mass Effect, but you are missing a good chunk of info and back story from the first two, so playing them from beginning to end would probably be better. |
or check out the ME wiki >.>

Not quite the same experience.....or dramatic.....
|
which is why you need to play brotherhood and revelations >.>
|
I know, and I'm going to....trust me on that. Even having read it, still want to play. Just need to be patient until I can get em.

Now I need to track down some manner of word/design program so I can do my final project in the next week. >.< |
Get a Mac, Quiet! :P
|
Quiet: Ouch......that sucks.....
|
Not sure how a Mac would solve my current situation, especially as I've been told that word processing and documentation software are not Mac's forte.
I'll be fine. The irritating stuff is dealt with. Just need to dig up MS Word and that's enough for the immediate needs. |
Uuuugh. Tried playing DotA 2, but I never do well in games where there's no solo play option.
|
Not familiar with it I'm afraid, just the Basshunter song.
|
You've been told wrong, Quiet. Desktop publishing has always been one of Mac's strong suits. The built-in TextEdit is comparable to WordPad but slightly nicer. Microsoft Word exists over here if that's what you're accustomed to, and Apple's iWork has Pages, which is slightly better than Word for desktop publishing. Neither Word nor Pages are really appropriate for REAL desktop publishing and you'd need to get some professional software if you intend to do professional publishing, but if what you're looking for is a word processor that's easy to come by.

Oh? Coda has a Mac too? 8D
|
Coda sleeps with his mac under his pillow. He hisses at every Windows machine he sees.
Espy: Dota2 is HARD. @_@;; I tried playing it under the basis of "Oh, I'm a decent LoL player, I should be able to beat some Dota bots!" But no. I fed like crazy. The hero I played was probably one with tougher mechanics, but I still couldn't even tell which one was my hero among all the creeps and enemies, let alone kill something. |
Lol, really?! 8D
I would love to see that, especially the hissing part. XD |
Huh, thought about DoTA2, any good?
And that thought made me laugh...mac under pillow, hissing at windows...*chuckles* |

BWAHAHAHAAAAA!!!! XD
Nice. Though I was totally expecting a video. :P |
I only played one round of Dota2, because I got scared and ran crying back to League of Legends. I'm sure if I practiced and got to know the style and the heroes and the items, I would enjoy it, but it's got a pretty dang steep barrier to entry. There's so many things that you have to know that aren't obvious (or even easy to learn) at all.
|
._. I want Mon to draw that now. A little chibi Coda hissing at the windows logo, clutching his mac protectively...
|
Omg, I would love to see that too!!!! 8D
I can just imagine the hilariousness of the image. XD <3 |
Hmmm.....this may be time for another Ashy image of Coda......
|
Ooooh, that sounds like fun. Then again, I wouldn't really care who made this image of Coda getting possessive over his Mac and hissing at Windows, I just want to see it. >w>
|
I just know Ashy has made several in the past....seems like she would already have the experience.....

Or I could....if she was on.
|
Well if Ashy will make an image, I can't wait to see it. >w<

I plan on getting better software but right now I can't afford it (looking mostly at Adobe)so I'm going to experiment with what I can get in the meantime. I go with my brother, who has both computers and uses whichever one is better for what he needs to do and for my purposes (all my purposes) he recommends a PC. |
If "your purposes" involve operating on a limited budget, then yes, Mac isn't for you. Generally speaking, gaming and video editing are the only roles at which Mac doesn't at least keep pace with Windows. And since your instructors have a teacher's salary, and your peers are college students, the minimum-acceptable product becomes the recommended one because money matters more than pretty much anything else in a college setting.
|
Money is a concern, yes, and I would like a comp that can do gaming as well as whatever I need for school and later, work. I'm in mostly a post college setting as a number of people in class are working and already have some of the software that I'm looking into, but some of us are running on shoestring budgets too. I don't plan on having more than one computer for everything any time soon.

that linkis for coda btw, spoilered for NSFB |
Steve Jobs Coda sounds good. :D
I can't wait to see it. >w< |
That would work Ashy.
Coda is right....Macs are definitely not for someone on a limited budget.....or for someone who is a pretty solid gamer. You will find that outside of Blizzard's games and a few other companies, there is a limited market. It is expanding slowly, but taking time for sure. |
My husband put a windows partition on his mac and uses that for gaming. He gets annoyed with having to switch over though.
|
I thought about doing that.....but once I got a hold of my old tower which I've kept running and in good order with Windows on it, I put the thought out of my mind. It's not that it's bad, just that I don't want to partition right now.

It's true. We can't give up the games! He has a fair amount of mac-compatible games on Steam, but a lot of the ones he likes are windows-only.
|
Moonless can't play half the MMOs we wanna play together cause of the games not liking macs OnO
|
Well, I'm sure one day all of the windows-only games he likes will be available on a Mac. :) Though I have no clue when that day will be. XD
Also: What is this Steam thing? owo |
... please tell me you're kidding about Steam. >.>; Short version: It's Valve's downloadable game store. Lots of games, quite a large number of them with both PC and Mac support.
