I thought that the story was one of the best things about Black and White. It didn't really have much else going for it, because it didn't really bring about much of a change in mechanics. 2nd gen added two new types and split the "special" stat into special attack and defense. RBE added abilities, EVs, IVs, natures, and a lot of new items that had a profound impact on the game. 4th gen brought the "physical-special split", which made it so that moves were not physical or special based on their type. Before that, any Pokemon whose offensive stats didn't match its type was screwed.

And then Black and White brought... Dream World? Perhaps I'm just bitter that I'm too technologically incompetent to access it, but it seems like a step down to me. It also added automatic sun and rain. Screw that.

I hope that X and Y have an even more satisfying story, because I'm not really sure what else they could add. I guess they could give Flareon some moves.

Wait a second... this isn't the competitive battling forum. Ummm... carry on.

Apparently, Gamefreak is slightly changing up the "formula" in X and Y. People are predicting 2 new types will be introduced, Sound and Light. (Thinking about it... It would make sense considering no one can identify Xerneas's typing.) A sound Type sound very plausible, considering there are a lot of "sound like" moves in Pokemon.

I just hope Gamefreak will finally decide to make Charizard, Gyradose, and other Dragon like pokemon the official Dragon Typing. Change the numberings a bit so the Nidorans are the same number/pokemon (which they are... Just back in the RBY times there were no pokemon genders.) And other logical fixes they can change to the Pokemon/Pokedex in general.

Most of all, I wish Gamefreak will explore all possibilities with DLC. It would be amazing to see new storylines that will unlock legendary Pokemon to you that were IN GAME. And not the lame, here's a free pokemon and a possible small side event once you get the Pokemon.

The idea of new types is certainly intriguing, and could have a profound impact on the usability of some Pokemon. Unfortunately, I just don't think it's likely. Introducing new types, when they already have so many pokemon, would result in a notable shortage of those types, when compared to pre-existing types. While some Pokemon that already exist could fit as light or sound, (Exploud comes to mind)they would still be quite rare.

I can't really think of how sound or light would interact with other types. Light would probably be super effective against dark and ghost, but I don't know what would be good against it. I can't really think of anything that sound would be good or bad against. Though one thing can be said for sure: If new types are made, they will be bad against steel. Because everything is.

Steel and Dark were mostly introduced in 2nd gen because Psychic was ridiculously overpowered as a type. The only types good against it were bug and ghost, which sucked for plentiful reasons. Dragon is arguably overpowered, but I'm not sure it's enough to warrant a new type.

But I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't excited for new types.

i dont like the idea of new types and i do seriously doubt that theyre going to add new typings. i am however excited for the 3d pokemon world(not the 3ds effect) im curious as to how its going to turn out.

I've heard speculation that the 6th gen region will be based on France, like how Unova was based on the US. I actually did notice that Pikachu was standing on top of the Eiffel Tower for the trailer. It sounds like a pretty neat idea to me. They have architecture in France, right?

France has a LOT of unique architecture, and design. I really want to see giant cathedrals, and gothic buildings in glorious 3D!

They're also brave enough to erect an unapologetically phallic structure, then declare it a symbol of their culture. So that's pretty cool.

And yes, my choice of verb was quite deliberate.

Ashy 02-09-2013 09:33 AM

it might be based off europe cos there were some other european landmarks i noticed aswell. also, isnt there a building in tokyo that looks like the eiffel tower?

Xyphlan 02-09-2013 02:43 PM

I seem to recall reading somewhere that there are a lot of buildings over the world that are based on the Eiffel Tower. It wouldn't be too surprising to learn that one was in Japan.

For future reference, whenever I say I read something "somewhere", that almost invariably means that I read in on Cracked.
