Oh, I didn't even know there was a third game.

*goes to research*

Serra Britt 06-09-2011 07:53 PM

One of my friends on Facebook is playing it and I keep seeing trophy notifications >> I don't know much about it but I can't imagine not liking it, I even liked the second one despite having to play around the game bugs :p

Suzerain of Sheol 06-09-2011 07:57 PM

Just read some reviews. Don't think I'll be getting it. It sounds like they took nearly everything I liked about the first one and replaced it silly innuendo and a new battle system that involves "purging" your Reyvateil of her clothing in battle to increase her power. :|

Serra Britt 06-09-2011 08:18 PM

So in other words I'll probably like it a lot >> But unless I'm missing something, I wasn't aware clothing stopped Reyvateil magic. That's a really wierd sounding game mechanic.

Suzerain of Sheol 06-09-2011 08:27 PM

Make that: "replacing the occasional descent into innuendo of the first game with near-constant in-your-face innuendo" but, hey, if you like that sort of things, guess it isn't a negative. The review I read made a pretty big deal out of it, is all.

And I'm not sure "weird" is the word I would use for that mechanic. More like... juvenile.

Serra Britt 06-09-2011 08:31 PM

Playing a game full of innuendo might tire even me out, but I'm a big perv...so yea that's not a negative to me.

"Juvenile" does fit better. I mean, yea, sure I'd like to see the Reyvateils with less clothes. (Even though I would be closer to a Reyvateil than a protector when it comes to personality.) But having it happen during battle? That sounds like a method to get more people to buy the game without thinking of the implications >>

Suzerain of Sheol 06-09-2011 08:49 PM

Well, don't take my word for it, that's just the impression I got. It sounded like they gave up what little seriousness there was to the story for the chance at extra innuendo.

If you do end up playing it, let me know, though.

It's on the as of yet unwritten list. It's getting to be a pretty long list, I think I should actually write it down. Remind me when I go back home and I'm on my own computer xD

Suzerain of Sheol 06-09-2011 10:18 PM

I was wondering how long you could keep that list going in your head...

Serra Britt 06-09-2011 11:09 PM

Oh I'm sure I'm going to forget some of them and just have to add them later :P It's a really long list...

Serra Britt 06-14-2011 11:23 PM

My roommate has been playing Grimgrimoire on the PS2 lately. Have you played any of the Vanillaware games?

Suzerain of Sheol 06-14-2011 11:27 PM

I don't think so. I remember checking that out when it first came out, but something else must have caught my interest more, because I never got around to buying it.

What else did they make?

Serra Britt 06-14-2011 11:33 PM

Odin's Sphere and Muramasa: The Demon Blade. Both excellent side scroller action games with absolutely gorgeous artwork as long as you ignore the characters with the "way too big boobs".

Suzerain of Sheol 06-14-2011 11:35 PM

Heard of Odin Sphere, wanted to play that, too. Never heard of Muramasa.

Serra Britt 06-14-2011 11:44 PM

Muramasa was on the Wii, but the gameplay style was very much like Odin Sphere's. I didn't play it long enough to see how much difference there was between the two characters, and now my Wii is gone so I can't right now. Odin Sphere had 5 characters and they all played differently, so even if they fought the same boss it was a completely different battle each time. It was sch a wonderful game...I wish I still had it T.T

Edit: So it sounds like you never played Dragon Force, it was a...very unique game.

Suzerain of Sheol 06-15-2011 12:52 AM

Alas, no, I believe that was slightly before more time. Or just a result of me not having a Sega.
