"So I've noticed," she said, "What do you do?"
"I'm a part-time invader, myself," Paul stated proudly. "I guess you could say I'm part a' the cleanup crew." He snickered a bit.
"I see, have you ever worked with Randy?" asked Greta.
Paul shook his head. "I have worked with Randy I, though. He's full-time."
"What do you do when you aren't invading?" asked Greta.
By that time, they had reached the Schickelgruber-run salon at which Paul worked. "This," he said, bringing her inside and sitting her down in a large, rounded chair near the back.
"You do hair?" Greta asked, getting comfortable in the seat and letting down her bun so that her long, thick, blond hair came tumbling down.
"Sure do, sweetheart!" He adjusted the chair and tied a cover about her neck. As he was about to reach for a spray bottle and a comb, a much smaller female Schickelgruber approached and squinted at him.
"You just come from the bar again, Paul?" she accused, giving him a sniff. "It ain't hurtin' nothin'," Paul insisted. |
"Erm...you're not going in the habit of drinking and wielding scissors are you?" asked Greta uncomfortably.
"You got nothin' to worry about," Paul assured her, picking up a pair of scissors in each hand. "I'm good with my hands!" He juggled the scissors in the air, deftly catching them and twirling them on his fingertips. When he stopped, both pairs were held in the ready position and he snipped them triumphantly. The female coworker seemed satisfied, however warily, and returned to her post.
Greta gave him a small smile, "Alright, I'm ready, just trim the ends, and my bangs and then, if you could, straighten it so it looks nice an neat?"
"You got it." Paul sprayed and combed her hair, then went to work with his scissors and an iron. The work was fairly quick, and after a few minutes, Greta's hair was neater and straighter than it had ever been.
She gave it an experimental swish, loving the way the white, blond strands shined, "It's perfect!" she said, "I think I'll make you my regular!"
"Glad to hear it," Paul replied with a grin. "'Course I do go away on long missions sometimes... but I'll letcha know."
"That's fine by me, what do I owe you?" she asked.
"You don't owe me a thing," said Paul. "Don't go spreadin' it around, but this is a no-charge establishment."
Greta's eyes widened, "You're joking!"
Paul shook his head. "Money's never been a <<Schickelgruber>> thing," he said simply. "Some places trade goods and services, and places that see more human contact might deal in human currency... but this ain't one of 'em."
"Well I have to give you something," said Greta, she gave his cheek a kiss, "Thank you very much,"
Paul chuckled. "Any time. You just come back here and make yerself an appointment."
"You're so sweet!" she cooed as she waved goodbye, "I'll be back before you know it!"
He waved back at her, then went to sweep up around the chair and wait for the next visitor.

.....
When Randy returned home Baby showed him a 24 hour family pass to the spring festival held in the town square and park, "Want to go?" she asked. |
He looked it over and nodded. "Sure; the kids'll love that," he replied. "We ain't been out in a while."
"Besides, Kurt is entering one of his flowers in the gardening contest, he's hoping to win first prize this year," said Baby.
"I be surprised if he don't," said Randy VIII. "What else they got there?"
"They have free foods and deserts contributed by everyone, Erickson is bringing his best cider and baked treats and Happy Horse Farms is contributing tons of apples for the Everything Apple bake. There's going to be a Beer N' Barbecue hosted by Karl. Bill from the pub is bringing the booze and there are all kinds of games and rides," said Baby.
Randy whistled. "Count me in! Round up them babies."
"Oh, wait," said Baby, "Jones is hosting a seminar, Kosher living for the contentious Vegan,"
Randy gave a snort. "Sounds like him, alright."
Baby nodded, "Should I invite Gloria?"
"Yeah, if you wanna," said Randy. He grinned mischievously. "She can hold onto the kids if we wanna sneak off an' do our own thing."
"Sounds good to me," said Baby giving him a kiss.
Randy returned her kiss, pressing her close for a moment before drawing away to go and gather the children.
Baby called Gloria, who was excited to join them, and packed a diaper bag for the twins.
Randy VIII returned with an armload of children, carrying all three of them at once.
"Alright! Load up the car!" said Baby.
Randy VIII carried them out to the car, strapping each one into a seat. "We all set?"
Little Randy gave a bounce, "I'm ready Daddy!"
"Then let's get goin'!" Randy VIII slid into the driver's seat and set the destination on the car's computer.
