My stop is either right on school campus, or right on my street.
And I live off of the main road so there's always enough people around that that wouldn't happen.

LA has hundreds of thousands of people and it happens anyway. xD The metro / subway stations are worse. People get shot and killed down there. ...or just beat to death.

I was about to say... there are plenty of very successful and consequently extremely rich people around here who didn't even finish high school. America is all about being competitive and having an entrepreneurial spirit.

But yes, even for most basic jobs (working at a fast food joint, being a housekeeper, etc.) you have to have your high school diploma or GED in America.

But the competition is intense if you're aiming for any career type of job. You need a ton of education. Even if you have a bachelor's it isn't worth jack crap these days.

Sadly education is very expensive in America. It's not unheard of for people to have half a million dollars in debt when they graduate.

I USE WAY TOO MANY CONJUNCTIONS. I never used to do that until I went to a seminar where they talked about current trends in American English. The speaker went on and on about how using conjunctions to start a sentence is becoming more acceptable in modern times.
